i'm in kg melayu subang, noticed one thing new starting from early jan, umobile's lte band 7 is no more used in my area. the main band is now band 1 and band 3. i mean umobile's band 7 is not available at all, disappeared like it's switched off completely. i'm using network signal guru to lock to specific bands to test. can anyone test your area too? edit: i don't have a screenshot of how it was before, but i'm 100% there was band 7 coverage in my area, and it was the main one. now it's gone, not sure if this is permanent or temporary. QUOTE(lurkingaround @ Jan 29 2020, 09:47 PM) syukrilajin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U_MobileSeems, UMobile is transitioning to 4G LTE Band 1 = 1800MHz and Band 3 = 2100MHz from Band 7 = 2600MHz. Maybe because of less frequency interference from other celcos, the lower frequencies give better range/coverage per cell tower and have better wall penetration, even though slightly lesser speed. ....... Seems "Band 8" = 900MHz is only 3G/HSPA+ for backup(eg in case area has no 4G coverage) = top speed 7.2Mbps. I have just experimented setting my mobile network to only WCDMA/GSM or 3G/HSPA+(= 900MHz), ie no 4G LTE, and I can still get HD/720p/1.6Mbps streaming on Youtube and 5Mbps when downloading apps on the GX50 phone plan. 3G signal reception on my Android device is better than 4G LTE, ie 900MHz is better than 2600MHz in terms of signal range and wall penetration. ....... Of course, if the subscribers can use speed of at least 7Mbps, they should stick to 4G LTE. . Maybe they want to repurpose their 2.6ghz band for mid band 5G. It's a good thing, a bunch of chinese phones, Xiaomi in particular, only support band 1+3 CA(for some of their older CA supported phones). Not sure about newer ones. I get around 30-50mbps for both band 1 and band 3 independently, so combining those two band would be great for my area.
