Share to many users. That I can confirm.
Previously I tried subscribing to GX50 unlimited, that didn't work on my 3G router. Line connected but cannot even open 1 webpage.
Then I plugged it into my own handphone without hotspot enable and it was able to browse or connect as per normal.

Therefore I conclude that Umobile successfully blocked any form tethering / hotspot it detected when plugged into my 3G modem.  ranting.gif , thats what that leads me to "upgrading" to Hero package.

Yes I know its written in their T&C that non-smartphone / hotspot is not allowed in GX50. Who doesn't love unlimited data.

in reality, they offered 5GB quota for hotspot..
maybe u need to complaint about unable to do hotspot..

Hi guys, need your feedback on Umobile call quality.

Do you get echo / frequent dropped calls / people not able to get their calls to you even though the signal bar is full?

How is sms shortcode delivery system by Umobile (TAC from banks)?

Thinking of switching to Umobile, mainly need it for unlimited call purpose.

they r using Maxis 3G infra..if u setting to 3G & below, u can get use Maxis infra which is very good for calling purposes..

Just to add..Umobile users only get 2G / edge signal if they roam on Maxis network. Only good for calls but terrible for data. And even forcing on manual network selection on Maxis 3g WCDMA mode it will not work.

So dont hope on hopping on Maxis's 3g network and pay Umobile prices.

yes if u in KL..but they still had an agreement until this June 2019 in limited area..

for those suffer using Umobile 4G (normally inside building), better change to 3G and below setting..coverage much more better..4G not good inside the building..

from wikipedia, The major shareholder of U Mobile includes Straits Mobile Investments Pte. Ltd (49%), followed by U Telemedia Sdn Bhd (21.46%), DYMM Sultan Ibrahim (15%),[17] Magnum Bhd (6.33%), Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun (6.2%), and Berjaya Infrastructure Sdn Bhd (2.01%).

U Telemedia Sdn Bhd is a venture by Tan Sri VincentTan, Founder of Berjaya Group and meanwhile Straits Mobile Investments Pte Ltd (a backup of SingaporeTechnologies Telemedia Pte Ltd - ST Telemedia).

Straits Mobile Investments Pte Ltd, from ST Telemedia in Singapore, bought into U Mobile in March 2010 with a reported RM1 billion for a 33% stake that it acquired from Vincent Tan... and some of the balance shares after that.

So, basically 33%+6.2%+21.46%+2.01%....hahaha...that why Vincent is strongly promote UMobile.
