UMobile GX30 prepaid phone plan is limited to SD/480p/0.6Mbps video-streaming, 3GB of hotspot data per month and 3Mbps for other usage, eg read news and install/update apps.
....... Live-streaming requires double the Internet bandwidth or download speed of normal recorded video-streaming. Eg live-streaming at 480p requires at least 1.2Mbps dl speed, at 720p/HD requires about 2Mbps and at 1080p/FHD requires about 4Mbps. Try manual setting for the video resolution/quality and not leave it at the default setting of auto.

Once the 3GB hotspot limit is reached, I think no more hotspot data will be usable = can no longer hotspot.  Once, normal data of 100GB has been used for the month, throttling will occur = dl speed limited to 0.5Mbps.

Seems, recently UMobile has allowed video-streaming at up to 720p/HD/1.5Mbps for GX50/30, but not at 1080p/FHD/2Mbps. My GX50 can now video-stream at 720p, maybe since about a month ago.

Maybe the change is because UMobile is scared its no-contract GX50/30 subscribers would move to the truly-unlimited(data and speed) Unifi Mobile RM59 (normal is RM99 per month) promo from Nov 2019 to March 2020, which can even video-stream at up to 4k/2160p on 4G LTE Band 38/40.

Problem is, Unifi Mobile has quite poor 4G coverage in urban areas and has no 3G coverage of its own = rides on Celcom's 3G coverage = no unlimited data/speed when riding on Celcom 3G coverage. UMobile has its own 3G coverage to fall back on when there's no 4G coverage. 3G can give dl speed of up to 4.7Mbps. Phone calls and SMS mostly use 3G, not 4G. GX50 gives free phone calls.

6-month Year-end reward promo was in Dec 2019. After replied to the SMS from UMobile, got the monthly reward of bill discount/rebate from Jan 2020 to June 2020 = it's like a 6-month contract to get the full reward = if I port-out before June 2020, eg to Unifi Mobile RM59 in March 2020, likely I will kena bayar-balik itu 6-month reward.

I have no plan to port-out = quite satisfied with the GX50 phone plan in outer Klang Valley since I live quite near a highway = less risk of network congestion, ie cell towers are often located along highways for car navigation apps = I may be served by 2 or 3 cell towers. Cell tower range for Internet data is 3 miles.
....... Most of the time, I get full 5-bars 4G signal reception.

Network congestion can occur in densely populated areas that are away from main roads and highways, since one 4G/3G cell tower can only serve 60 subscribers at any one time, on a 1st-come-1st-serve basis = if so, try to not switch off your device once connected; if possible switch-on 24/7.
....... TM Streamyx used to have this problem., likely because TM over-sold bandwidth to too many customers = many complaints about slow speed and could not connect.

Just to clarify, the 30GB figure is total data used by subscriber per month, ie not 30GB of data used by subscriber on the 4G modem occasionally.
.......IOW, with the same phone SIM card, you may use only 10GB of data on the 4G modem occasionally but used 40GB of data on the 4G phone = total 50GB of data used per month = may get DPI'ed by UMobile.

Before doing DPI, UMobile only knows the subscriber's total data use per month, whether got illegal use or not = it does not know how many GB is being used illegally if there is any. Only after DPI, will UMobile know whether the subscriber is doing illegal use of the phone plan and how many GB of data has been illegally used.
....... UMobile can impose extra charges on the monthly postpaid bill of subscriber for illegal use of hotspot data above the set limit of 5GB per month for GX50, eg RM10 per GB. If offending subscriber does not pay, UMobile may terminate and CTOS his/her account.

but there are other unlimited call and unlimited data plan like P99 and P139, which is RM99 and RM139 respectively.

understood there are some differences like RoamOnz/HotSpot/etc, which i don't need at all.

Not really. Other telcos will upgrade their backend or have more base stations to cater for the capacity.

It is something can be solved.

To be fair, others have much lesser capacity issues than u mobile.

Anyway, my last use of u mobile is many many years back. I am going to give it second try on the GX30 on 20 jan. will see how it goes. Anyway have rm25 promo price for 6 months.

Since it is prepaid and I am using it purely for data and not main line, can just MNP anytime if it is really not good.

its the worst telco i ever use

the coverage was bad, most place got 3g only, and contrast to what the other experienced,the 3g was too slow while the 4g is decent enough

this is on town area, i never thought town area also half half on 3g n 4g

my advice to whom that want to mnp, buy a sim from 7evelen, try the gx12(don't like me spend rm30 on gx30) , try a week and see if can bear the speed.

for me, I don't recommend because of the inconsistent speed and network.
for those who curious,yes, it can play 720p utube video without buffer,but depends on network sometimes.

other than youtube, other video streaming platform is all capped.

i used to watch the live streaming on gameplays by hosts on those china streaming platform. all cannot watch at all.

But between Android won't be much difference..

Afaik;

UMobile uses only 4G LTE Band 7 = 2600MHz and 3G Band 1 = 2100MHz.  So, the problem should lie with the lower quality 4G modem inside the mid-end Oppo and Vivo phones, eg can only detect strong 4G signal = at least 3 bars.

Where do you get the info that Umobile, digi, and maxis are able to use band 20 for LTE?
