Since i registered as overseas voter, i have not received a single sms from any government sms broadcast.

used to get so many

dont know how they know my old number, or why is it related to that?

could be some other thing too lol i dunno
*
Maybe they see u overseas
So don't bother to blast spam SMS anymore 😁

No use for them also...
U also not qualified for all the $$$ given... Since there's some requirements saying u must be in Malaysia for certain period & not earnings in foreign lands....

Hi, does anyone know how U40 works?
I wonder why the speed is uncapped versus the 6Mbps advertised?
*
speedtest.net is uncapped usually

Try other sites like fast.com for a realistic test

.
Just to add, fast.com is owned by Netflix and will show our video-streaming speed. So, for the affordable U Mobile phone plans, their video-streaming is usually limited/capped to HD/720p/3Mbps. For U40, other mobile Internet data usage is capped at 6Mbps, eg web-surfing, installing apps, etc.

Note that prior to mid-2021, affordable U Mobile phone plans had video-streaming limited to SD/480p/1.5Mbps and an FUP of 50GB per month. SD/480p is a good enough video resolution for 6" phone screens. Eg we only need UHD/4k/2160p/20Mbps video resolution for large TV screens >54" = for 40" TV screens, FHD/1080p/5Mbps is good enough.
....... IOW, video resolution needed is according to the size of the viewing screen, except when it comes to head-mounted AR (Augmented Reality) or VR devices.

Seems, Ookla's speedtest.net bypasses our ISP by using port 8080 for the speedtest = bypasses our ISP's speed cap, if any.

Personally, I've been on postpaid GX50, speed capped at 5Mbps, since Jan 2019 = a satisfied casual home customer.

I just saw the umobile 5g home, it says can use in router, can hotspot no restriction, can use with LTE device, 1TB no speed throttle at ONLY RM68

Seriously this sounds too good to be true. Seriously is this really
- can use for PC?
- can use on old 4G LTE router?
- CAN FINALLY KILL THE GOAT AWEFUL DIGI i150???

I need to know!! I need it NOW! Tired of paying Digi for shit service yet so expensive...
Even if just getting it and use on 4G line only (no 5g coverage) is already better than paying 160 for digi...

Speed is fine for 4g. Family member using umobile for long time already

Dont have any 5g device to test 5g though, but from their coverage map, dont have coverage foe 5g. See if i can find someone with 5g phone to test. If got then i might get a new router.

If the map don't have 5g coverage... Then highly possible don't have yet for your area....

But yeah... Try getting someone who have 5g device to test out first 🙏

5g is nice to have but not critical for now.
Right now the most critical thing is burn that digi card and not paying this month bill (almost 31 end of month)
For just 68 going umobile, the saving is MASSIVE

Personally I also feels 5g like overrated....

As long it's acceptable speed & can do all the tasks required... then 4g is sufficient enough 🙏

Later on when there's more choices of devices... And cheaper pricing too... mature / stable 5g coverage & speed... Then can move to 5g services 👍

What speeds are you now getting on 4G U Mobile during peak and off-peak network traffic hours.?

Do celcos prioritize new subscribers for the 1st 2-3 months.?

for example downloading 5gb file

5g 500mbps speed took 1 minute 20 seconds

4g 50mbps speed took 13 minutes 20 seconds

Woah...

5gb files.... So big one...

Was thinking around 1gb or 2gb like that...

Personally... If not frequently need to download such big files... 4G sufficient enough... As long around 10 - 15mins no issues to wait.... Can go have drink first, or smoking chill.. then back to see download complete or not 😁
