Too bad the hotspot quota is too small for this day and age.
.
Afaik, most casual phone-centric users do not need hotspot data, ie those who also use computers need hotspot data.
OTOH, the 100GB data cap on the new U-PP68 mobile plan is quite a turn-off, ie only 3.33GB per day = some users will prefer U-PP98 for it's much higher 1,000GB data cap = 33.33GB per day. A 1-hr 4k/2160p video consumes about 7GB of data = 4.5 hrs per day.
.
Afaik, celcos seem to be profit-gouging mobile users by imposing data caps bc they pay TM HSBB Fiber for their backhaul connections to the Internet at the rate of about RM90 per 30Mbps = RM10 per 3Mbps, not RM per GB of data.
....... Celcos should limit the number of users according to the capacity of the 4G cell towers, ie about 500 active users at the same time per cell tower.. Including non-active users, a celco should limit itself to sell to only about 750 users per cell tower and give every paying customer unlimited data, including unlimited hotspot data, like TM Unifi and TM Mobile. Instead, the celcos impose data caps or "FUP" so that they can sell more mobile plans to more users, eg 2,000 users per cell tower, esp in urban areas.
Also, each 4G cell tower usually has a capacity of 1,200Mbps (400Mbps per 20MHz)(= 3X20MHz or 3 times 10X10MHz) to be shared by the 500 active users at the same time = average 2.4Mbps per user.
In comparison, each TM Unifi Fiber cable has a capacity of 10,000Mbps or 10Gbps to be shared by about 40 active home-users (residing in link-houses) at the same time (= average 250Mbps per user) and every paying customer enjoys unlimited data, including unlimited "hotspot" or Wifi data.
That may be why DIGI could make a profit of RM304 million for Q4 2021 while TM made a profit of only RM80 million for Q4 2021.
