I asked a Live Chat Customer Service, they said free upgrade from streamyx to unifi is only 10Mbps and the price you have to pay is Unknown atm which will last only 12 months.

I don't think TM has the power or will to demand every "taman" or high rise building to upgrade their own infrastructure to support fibre internet. Then again, it is not their responsibility to upgrade infrastructure which they do not own.

So TM can announce something like this, but if building owners don't care to upgrade their own infrastructure, Streamyx subscribers will still get stuck with outdated & expensive internet from the pre-PH era.

In the end, the announcement made TM look good in the eyes of the relevant ministry without actually doing anything and most importantly , can still milk those unfortunate Streamyx subscribers who don't have any other options.

I took a look on the form, feel more like new unifi application. Upgrade Streamyx ADSL to 10mbps unifi 10mbps VDSL it's completely differ hardware. Properly scam. Free one year, sound like promotion ads. This not the double speed free upgrade, right. And upgrade installation fee not mentioned, scary crazy, I have a bad experience installation fee on Streamyx, it's charge me everything

TM install no enough Fiber Distribution Point in the 1st place, and each Fiber Distribution Point has only 8 port at the moment. Fiber Distribution Point would get even lesser port when the speed getting higher and higher.

Got this when checking for the streamyx upgrade. From Streamyx 4Mbps, 512kbps upload to maybe Unifi Lite 10Mbps download, 5Mbps upload on VDSL will be better than the Streamyx ones. Can wait for the upgrade.

Need to be grateful because this streamyx is at my hometown rural area. If got 10Mbps it means it is fast enough for rural areas.

Nope, they can’t. Streamyx is ADSL, and Unifi is FTTH. They have to change the physical infrastructure.

According to my 'friend', who asked someone at TM, the so called free upgrade only lasts like one year.

Meaning, if you're paying for Streamyx, say at RM88 and the UNIFI package you're being upgraded to is worth RM129, then, the price is maintained at RM88 for ONE YEAR. Then it reverts back to the market rate of RM129.

Not sure whether this is the case, but whoever is interested can re-check with the customer service at TM point.

So, just don't blindly click to upgrade from Streamyx to UNIFI unless you have all the facts on hand.

If anyone of you thinking to stay with TM forever, then you can skip reading my below message.

If you're thinking to change to Maxis 30mbps or other service provider, then I suggest you to becareful with TM so called "free upgrade".

1. In 09 November 2017, they gave me a free speed upgrade to 8mbps, which they claimed there's no contract renewal for this streamyx.

2. At the same time, they provide me a Unifi TV Pack (Jumbo Lite- which I can login to watch their programs from computer or smartphone). Which, I never asked for it and never ever login to watch it. Now, they claiming there's a contract for this Unifi TV Pack

3. So, if I terminate my account before 09 November 2018, there will be a penalty charge on me.

Is this sound logic? "Free upgrade" to you, no contract renewal on broadband, but there's contract renewal on the Unifi TV Pack.
So, they probably could do that forever (giving upgrade, before your contract expired so there will be a contract renewal and tie you down).

Unifi is still miles better than Streamyx, and 99% would change to Unifi if it is available, even for a higher price. You are getting much faster speeds and definitely no regrets switching to Unifi.

That's true. But since I'm not a particularly heavy user, not in a rush to upgrade.

Here's mine, hopefully will get free upgrade on next month since it's end of the month

Basically TM just impose double contract on its customer lol. Even though the Unifi TV Pack contract was for 1 year. And for the existing customer that already end their contract, they put the new contract for Unifi TV Pack. I must say whoever thinking of this double contract style on TM was very good manipulator lol. And some people backing up TM and do not say that TM not a monopoly is bs.

Yesterday my area there are TM people doing something for few hours at the dslam, and I noticed there is a new sticker on the dslam , SGD VC5011. Can I know is it they are upgrading our area which only support streamyx to vdsl?

im a 4mbps user, who struggled to upgrade to 4mbps cause no ports bla bla but finally got it. by the end of the year, i hope i will atleast get upgraded to 10mbps (or 8, or none at all ffs)

My cousin got this letter from tm, tm send a letter to his house. He already called twice for double checked on 100 and tm point setapak. He got 10mbps with no extra charges by monthly and with no extra contract if migrate to unifi. He also got free 600min calls. But no give stb, just view need to view hyyptv in phone or pc. He already ask about the timeframe for that letter, the customer service said until next year.

By the way, he is on edu package plan that get free hp laptop long long time ago..during that time edu package for colleague or ipt students only can apply for that package. edu package that time for 1mbps, 2mbps and 4mbps, so he apply for 2mbps for starting then he applied for 4mbps (rm88) during that time sst have too but utilities not charges at all..so no sst charges that time. Then after tm launch first thank you surprise he got free webe but he didn't take. Then after year by year, tm promoter offer him 30mbps(rm139 & rm149) & 50mbps(159 & 179) and lastly unifi lite 10mbps(rm129). He doesn't take its all, still maintain never accepted. During that time he also ask from tm livechat why he doesn't got atleast 8mbps / unifi lite on same price because he knews someone also get same price like him but got 8mbps / unifi lite..that is why he still maintain his streamyx..tm livechat answered sorry free speed upgrade already expired..then this year he still got same promotions until this yellow letter the latest promotion. He said he will upgrade to this yellow latest promotion, before that he will reach direct to tm point setapak soon for double check again. By the way he just a regular user, no torrenting or downloading any movies or big size software files. Just watching online streaming like youtube or movie online on weekend. Working days, he just watch tv only because he return home late..lolz..

In order to prevent that kind of dispute, lets back to basics. Contract must have offer and acceptance. If they call you and offer you something, you said yes, both offer and acceptance exist. There4, contractual terms are enforce-able. My case is different, im originally vip 5, TM upgrade me to vip10 without my consent, they did this on their own without seking for my permission be it email, letter or call. So, new contractual terms actually NOT enforceable. In fact, TM void agreement already by upgrading me as per contract's principles. But no one insane enough to actually sue someone for giving more value without requiring anything in exchange from you. See, there are things not even logic of law can do for you. This is common sense. Im very sensitive in this regard, I even call them for clarification demanding explanation to which they double confirm with me.

Next time they call you, demand their name and continue the conversation through email instead, so everything got a record in black amd white instead just verbal and audio. You can also read all the contractual terma before you make acceptance of offer. In real life, if you do this too often, ppl may regard you as being too skeptical and too suspicious of others, evthg also dont trust and evthg also doubt. However, u got to protect urself from being conned. Life lesson 101

How much is he paying now, monthly on Streamyx? From your information, he is on 4mbps at RM88 now? So he's being upgraded to 10mbps UNIFI at RM88?

1. Is this RM88 at 10mbps UNIFI permanent?
2. Is he getting a free landed phone line?

Cos from what I gather from what TM point told them:
1. Price maintained at 1 year only, then reverts back to the usual RM129 for UNIFI 10mbps
2. No more free landed phone line or have extra charges...

My friend called TM, the person said the best they could offer is to maintain the same price but for one year only. Then price reverts back to the official pricing.

Cos' when they put in the package, ask him to make sure he gets the below:

if your area got unifi coverage better change to 100mbps with rm129..a few ringgit different a bit..or you just wait another tm new package before end of this year..if early the launch on this month or november if not late december..with much better price for now..i think they trick us again with 2years contract cheaper one but back to normal price after contract ended for upcoming package..

i dont like this "tricky" business of theirs. ofcourse if theres any better deal, i'd go for it. wouldnt wanna pay that much for inferior speed, no one would. but no choice. place got no unifi coverage since the beginning of time but the check.unifi.com site said that it'll come by the end of this year.

so i guess we'll just have to see whether or not they could fulfill their target and promises, or just a normal "another day, another disappointment" from TM.

pity for this fella..look like tm already stop for oku package..for me better tm make adjustment new price reduced with new package for all type of users. Tm big problems right now, they already make many different prices with different packages that same speed like others that make users got headache..for streamyx starting, why not price reduce at this new era for all users between old and new users, same price with the speed that they used now without extra contract and any hidden terms. unifi most big problems right now, a lot of price offer by them. why not for starting unifi lite 10mbps rm70, 30mbps rm80..for existing users and new user got same price. new users with contract and old users no extra contract just like maxis done now..

To be fair, they should. But I guess they want to maintain their profit margins. If they implement what you mentioned above, I think they'll take a huge hit on both their revenue and profit.

although we blame maxis quality and their services, they still maintain untung..just cool and steady..but tm do the hard way want to grab all thing that can be untung for them until their tactics burn themselves..greedy like no tomorrow for them..

a few of streamyx users got free upgrade 8mbps and 10mbps. All they need to do just inform to tm first. About my cousin, he already called again tm point setapak. He got no extra contract with monthly payment rm88 without sst charges.. He just payed that price until he terminate the internet..So, next he will again ask face to face whether really true or not..

Lol, can't wait for streamyx free upgrade. My sister was straight apply Unifi 100mbps for RM129. Yesterday the technician came to install unifi. Now the streamyx was under my name and unifi is under my sister name. So I will terminate my old streamyx account soon.

If they don't, then you should mention why you not get same situation like my cousin get too..if you using telephone too..if you care about costing first for a few ringgits with sst thing and doesn't care about the speed plus home telephone call..just regular user, on your call whether you wanna stick with streamyx or unifi 10mbps without no extra contract..If you more than regular one, and cared about the speed first, costing a few ringgits plus sst with contract 2 years, why not try maxis..but bare in mind, if you want unlimited calls too just add rm10..so, total rm99 for 30mbps without sst charges..

I was using streamyx 1Mbps for 3 years. Got upgraded to unifi 10Mbps last week and the month payment remains unchanged.

Went to TM point and double check, the TM staff confirmed the monthly payment for my upgraded unifi 10Mbps is the same as what I pay for my streamyx for "selama-lamanya" and there is no contract needed as well.

Moreover, got the unifi-TV but only can be accessed using mobile phone.

i'm using Streamyx 4M and no upgradeable , no Unifi provided on landed area but there a condor at the back of my house with unifi services, the tm fiber for the condor is 2meter away from my house...

cmon, seeing as there are few getting free upgrade to 8-10 mbps already, i want it as well. thats 4-6mbps faster than my current 4mbps, especially upload speed :/

would be utterly disappointed if i get nothing by the end of the year.

from my personal experience, those call claiming they are from unifi and said you have to pay for RM129 for 100mbps(previously was RM129/10mbps) actually all are agents, they try to fool you and try to persuade you to sign up the new package with them, they can earn commission from every user sign up. I did received many calls from agents and persuade me to upgrade from streamyx to unifi for RM129, i told them currently my current bill RM88 is it paying the same also, they told me not is RM129. I direct went to TM point and check the upgrade and paying same amount RM88. If you sgin up with phone agent you will paying more.

TM should give free contractless upgrade to 100Mbps. Their excuse is streamyx 1Mpbs to Unifi 10Mbps is 10 times speed upgrade.

However some streamyx users are currently paying RM110 for 1Mbps. All those bullshit mentioned in the snailmail yellow letter about appreciation blah blah are crap.

Only different of RM19 and can get 10 times more speed upgrade.
