Been a Huawei user before my note8. I had an infuriating time with huaweis UI. It was just unpolished and felt like a chore to use. The camera though nice at first is so artificial with the AI overload.

After switching to note8, been very impressed and best 16 months of smartphone ownership. If I were to upgrade it'll be purely for fun.

You prefer samsung UI compared to huawei?

Samsung UI is miles ahead of Huawei and I would pick a new note8 over any of the latest huaweis.

Mind sharing which part of Huawei UI disappoints you? I'm already grown accustomed to Sammy UI and I really like them since grace UX, so jumping to other brand is something I really need to consider, especially when it comes to UI. Never had any huawei phones before.

This guy say Sammy still better in terms of UI. I can see why cause notification handling Sammy UI still better.

I only use whatsapp for my messaging and I'm having this issue only when I'm connected to wifi. No problem when I'm on data. I need to open the app, then only all messages come in. If I don't open, it'll be like you, 20, 30 minutes delay. Sometimes more than that. This issue happens after Pie too. And I set my WhatsApp to backup at 2am and most of the nights it didn't backup. When I open WhatsApp in d morning, then only it backed up. I thought my home wifi got problem, but lately it happens when I'm on office wifi too.

A long shot but no harm trying

Setting/Device Care/Battery/Setting

May be your adaptive battery put some apps to sleep or restrict their background running.

one of the point:
latest huawei model come with the UI that built in some "AI" functionalities
so it will auto determine which function to turn on/off, adjust while you are using the phone
then, it took away the manual on/off/adjust setting, means user can't control it
but in fact, it become annoying, many are complaining and want to turn these functions off

example:
if your phone ringtone suddenly become so loud while inside your pocket and bag
the voice of the call frequently changing low and high, impacting both sides
but you can't turn it off or adjust

God. That is seriously annoying. I love automation, but taking away the manual access is even worse. Thanks for sharing 👍️

China dont really care about privacy. when someone use wechat to call me, i dunno how to turn off ringing sound, so i let it ring.

Can confirm only happens on wifi, I get my notifications on the spot with Data, thanks for this temporary fix.
I also noticed theres no more option for "Keep Wifi always awake" in the settings menu, I wonder if this could be the reason.

Hope some sifu here can help

Owh like that ka, that's normal to save battery... WiFi default will not always connected to internet when screen off.. you need to adjust some setting. I do mine when connected to charger only no always awake icon_rolleyes.gif

I am always on FHD+ since Nov 2017, and I want to try WQHD+. How is the battery life? Is it advisable to keep WQHD+ on?
