off topic
my answer's the same as djinn. in fact, i was fully aware of the 3rod problem and how widespread it was when i bought my 360.
It's all bout the games. There are just so many good titles that are easily available for the 360.
back to topic:
Digitral, it doesn't matter whether you play ori or 'local' games.
the 3ROD is simply a manufacturing defect that affects the majority of 360 consoles.
Doesn't matter whether you play it for 24 hours or 2.4 hours. Leave it vertical, or horizontal. Or even if there's a fan blowing at it or not.
What we've seen so far, and based on my personal experience, the 3ROD will strike you without bias.
Even the latest revision of the 360 console with the smaller die and revised heatsinks still have 3ROD cases (although admittedly less cases).
At the end of the day, be a gamer and just play. Don't worry too much bout the 3ROD.
We've got ppl like Djinn, who will honestly help you with any problems. And any one of us in this forum will be more than glad to help and do our best to fix your 360 console. You can even just refer to my guide and fix it yourself.
Just play.

QUOTE(benghee @ Aug 22 2008, 10:56 AM) i just got my T8 and T10 in Ace Hardware, stop looking around at those fancy hardware shop coz they wont hav any require screws, washer and Artic Silver. Just drop by any local or neighborhood hardware shop, u can buy tons of screws n washers in very low price. The fastest and easiest to find substitute for Artic Silver is use hardcore liquor...Jack Daniels and Chivas my favorite choice for clubbing and clean component. About the thermal paste, u can find any PC shop and i got my coolermaster thermal paste in IT hypermart. if you wanna ever buy a gpu heatsink, there's alot in ebay and they will ship to malaysia or find in sg.wang IT floor. Anyone needs a guideline made by Guardian in pdf format to print it out, you can download it here: http://rapidshare.com/files/139154701/xclamp.pdf.htmlim gonna start diagnose my xbox tomolo, god bless Awesome PDF bro. Cheers. btw, typo in ur post: QUOTE The fastest and easiest to find substitute for Artic Silver is use hardcore liquor. ArctiCleaner, not Artic Silver. Substituting AS with alcohol will lead to great epicness.

the washers are there as safety so that you do not damage the motherboard with the screws.

the reballing solution involves completely ripping out the chip and applying (reballing) the connectors from chip to motherboard. Pictar frm wikipedia: unless you have the necessary hardware and skills needed to perform this, it's better you send it to be fixed instead. otherwise try the more DIY-able x-clamp fix
