Are you connected to 2.4GHz or 5GHz wifi connection? If 2.4, you would only be getting around 40Mbps. You have to connect to 5GHz.
I connect to 5G and its the 5G that gives the most prob..Maxis Home Fibre 100Mbps + Tenda Dual Band Router, But only get about 4Mbps D/L and U/L

Are you sure you are testing INSIDE Malaysia?Speedtest inside Malaysia gives me 100/50 and I have a 100/50 subscription so that's fine. Outside Malaysia I get 1-10Mbps depending on the time of the day. Your reported speed is well within the range of my international speed, so maybe you're testing the wrong speedtest server? Also know, when you are in east Malaysia, even connecting to a server 1km away from you, your signal ALWAYS goes first to the censorship filter installation in Kuala Lumpur and then back to eastern Malaysia. It's not like connecting to a server in KK and you're from KK to wire it from your home inside KK to the server in KK. It always first goes to the censorship filters near Kuala Lumpur. This is Malaysian law, all ISP must filter the internet so no need to complain to Maxis about it. That's just how it is, and if they would extend the filters to filter IP ranges known as botnets, malware, etc I'd even favor that filtering! Unfortunately the filters don't seem to filter out criminal networks, only "inappropriate" and the "inappropriate" is actually my lesser worries, I rather have them to focus on criminal networks and IP ranges. Anyway, these filters can also be a bottleneck of course. This post has been edited by mrgenie: Jul 27 2019, 10:06 AM |
