Check your motherboard model. Who knows? Maybe you can go for Ivy Bridge with just a BIOS update.

If got Ivy Bridge support, go for i7-3770.

The word is 'decent', not absolute. Nothing 'proof' is even absolute, bullet proof, water proof, shock proof - it's relative to comparison.
