Any problems if use battery water to topup radiator? According to the bottle label, it uses 100% deionised water.
*
QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Oct 30 2018, 03:07 PM)
No no. Just asking because curious. So far no problem with water loss yet. But I am also thinking what if the lower level is due to water evaporation so we should only topup with water when the level goes down. Topping with coolant will only increase the antifreeze concentration which is bad for heat exchange efficiency.
*
Just top up with normal tap water will do. Even if you top up to full in the expansion tank, there is always an overflow tube to let the extra water escape in the event of overflow.

Although if you study in-depth automotive cooling system, book will tell you only put "distilled water" into radiator due to those mineral in water will make your radiator and water passage become rusty. But in my opinion that is abit too much. SC in malaysia, even conti brand will just top up coolant level using tap water.

As i understand, battery water is distilled/de-ionised water. So by right this is the best water for use in radiator.
*
In theory, yes it is the best but in reality, not necessary.

The antifreeze additive is there to prevent corrosion in your cooling system.

The best result of course is to use FULLY manufacturer specified pre-mixed coolant.

I just got the car. IMO, I dont expect much from it as I can bear with the rattling and everything looks positive for me as a 70K car. Just feel underpower with eco mode on. The rest are fine - air cond is cold, engine smooth, power window is working. I don't complain much for ratting sound since Malaysia roads are sucks with pothole and ratting sound will eventually come out at some points.
*
Have you experienced the rattling sound?

So far non for this car. But I have rattling sound for previous cars. Usually i just smash on the dashboard if the sounds came from there. Lol. I never try to fix it
*
The rattling noise for FL city usually from the plastic steering cover (located below your steering wheel) and the sun visor (driver side) when you drive through uneven road.

Buy new car , follow maintenance schedule, original features = warranty.

Buy new car, sendiri DIY some light task, mod here mod there a little bit = hoping not voiding warranty.

SC here already kind enough to tolerate some cosmetic mod like rim / spoiler / body kit etc.

Why dont delay all the mod / DIY to after warranty period? so you can have a refreshed feel of your car?

Or why dont buy a second hand if you are able to DIY to save cost?

This 1 is common.

The culprit is the plastic steering cover biggrin.gif

Try shell or BHP.

Do you on ECO mode?

And learn how to "use" cvt transmission. Else the rubber band effect will make you always have high rpm biggrin.gif

Pinjam topic from another forum :

https://www.nissanclub.com/forums/engine-pe...riving-you.html

Generally speaking is to constantly control your accelerator pedal. When you are accelerating from standstill, sometime you will experience a situation where engine rpm is high but the car is not moving fast, ie in high gear ratio.

In this situation you will then need to lift off the accelerator pedal a little bit in to change gear. Constant high rev results in high fuel consumption.

I wonder why? If u use car less why would it need servicing in 6 months. I believe a year should be a more reasonable duration
*
Oxidation occur when your engine oil contact with oxygen regardless you start the engine or not.

Not to forget Malaysia's weather are always hot and humid, which will deteriorate operating fluids even you didnt use the car.

Let me give you another example, Brake Fluid. Do you know that brake fluid is hygroscopic? ie it will absorb water over period of time. This is why manufacturer stated time-based maintenance and mileage based maintenance for automobile. Maintenance has to be carry out to ensure operating fluids are in good conditions to prolong engine lifespan.

Buta-buta follow mileage to service also another problem. Imagine in Klang Valley you had a bad traffic where just move 5KM in an hour. The odometer recorded only 5km but in actual your engine has been running non stop for 1 hour. The resource consumption in this case is not taken into account.

For continental cars like BMW the maintenance interval is like 15,000km. The result? Engine oil sludge. Google it and you will find more info.

Since we are on the topics of tire, the stock tire can normally last how long in terms of years or driving km? Mine is FL V spec
*
It all depends on 2 things :

1. Driving style (Whether is always hard cornering / slow & steady type of driving)
2. Regular maintenance (Regular inspection on alignment and balancing. And also properly inflate tyre pressure)

To gauge whether the tyre still can be use, normally we look for thread depth. If tyre thread is still good but there are sign of cracking / side wall bulge wall then it is time to change.

My friend is Vios owner, when he sit on my new city, he complaint that City is uncomfortable and bumpy especially on uneven road...is it normal and anyway to improve?

Have you checked your tyre pressure?

New car tyre pressure usually over inflated and will cause your ride to be bumpy.

Hi all. Can I ask if it's a must to change fuel filter every 4 year?
*
From the preventive maintenance point of view, yes. Changing fuel filter regularly it is to prevent fuel line being contaminated.

is it common to most owners?
sked send to SC fix it and more noise coming out afterward from whole car =.="

Same. I got the sound when I received my car on first day. But I just ignore it, now already used to it already. laugh.gif

Err...i believe it is not dashboard's noise, it is usually the plastic steering cover freeplay that causes the noise.

The plastic steering cover is just located underneath the steering wheel. Tap slowly with your finger should be able to produce same noise.

i have removed the plastic at both sun visors

not sure the plastic steering cover is still there or not

but to me, the sound seems to be coming from above the instrument panel

it is quite annoying, as the rattling seems more noisy than the engine lulz
*
Like that no choice have to send to SC.

But i'm always afraid if they remove & install the dashboard more noise will come afterwards doh.gif
