Orang ramai dijemput hadir. Have they blew the factories already or not ? Its on live as stated, where's the clip ?! |

QUOTE(Canopies @ Jun 13 2007, 11:20 PM) a certain degree of protectionism for nascent industries are necessary at first, but should be abolished after a period of time; unfortunately for proton, it went on for way too longnot not only it has to look after itself, it has to look after the many leeches that is sucking the life out of it |

i believe in the power of the market, when there are no external forces influencing it, especially incompetent one (like some government) interfering, making decisions based on popularity over anything else
i completely disagree with the statement below 1st of all, i cannot comprehend what this guy is trying to express by saying "u all are stupid coz u support something u dun want to support all because u dun want the reason of national pride to influence u... u havent seen the bigger picture" QUOTE(CoupeFan @ Jun 14 2007, 07:51 PM) lol why all typical malaysia so dumb?! please enlighten me of the bigger pictureu all are stupid coz u support something u dun want to support all because u dun want the reason of national pride to influence u... u havent seen the bigger picture just imagine if volkswagon take over, do u think they will sell u their best cars?... i dun think so man... they might just give u a dumb crap standard cars just to make profits (thats what they want to do when they decide to take over proton) dun dream of toureg or passat at price of waja... maybe they'll produce polo for u with perodua standards and sell cheap to profit no more lotus handling and dun dream of porsche tuned handling or vw engines =.= i seriously don't think anyone is looking forward to a proton kumbang, malaysia should stop trying to pretend to be somebody in the eyes of the world, notice the word pretend this is something one race is best at, sorry i'm being a racist and generalizing but something is very wrong and it will eventually blow up, just wait for it, having a subject for unity or whatever in school isn't going to resolve anything if the root cause is not resolved, keep on oppressing other race and wait for the demise |

i guess ppl here arent being realistic.
Do u really think that after VW takes over proton the import tax will be abolished? Do u really think that suddenly VW going to give the blueprint for their passat for proton to make? I dont even think there will be a reduction of price on the proton cars. The most we could hope here is that the transfer of OLD technology from VW to proton and rebadging of VW old cars. Maybe it will be the same like when mitsubishi became the partner for proton. Give 1 or 2 cars to rebadge on the begining and then went silent for the next 20 years. we shouldnt be satisfied even a bit if VW take over... u know why?@! BECAUSE: we dont want any hope in proton anymore even with VW no difference... ALL WE WANT is : abolish TAX on cars and this is ALL we wanted, who f**king care about proton or VW... all we care about is scraping NAP or AP what ever tax i heard jazz in indo is around 60k |

IMO the VW thing is just to boost image.
look at P2. don't have to boast Toyota / Daihatsu - just produce a cute car and price it decently. it's obvious what Proton lack is Sales & Marketing strategy. |

QUOTE(CoupeFan @ Jun 15 2007, 09:32 PM) hehe... who doesnt agree with me? I dont think those prices are realistic.who needs a RM40k rebadged "polo" with perodua standard when we can get RM80k for a passat imported without tax Added on June 15, 2007, 9:33 pmand RM 50k below hondas or toyotas The tax for cars is only2.5%in Victoria, Australia. A Polo is the size of a Myvi with a 55kw engine. A manual polo without even power windows is ~RM60k OTR. A 77kw tiptronic Polo is about RM75k OTR. A base level Passat is RM140k OTR. A high end Passat is RM175k OTR. A corolla is about RM75k OTR. A high end one is about RM90k OTR @ 2.5% tax. The base level Jazz/Yaris works out to be around AUD20,000 or RM60k*. So the answer is no. I dont think even if the govt abolish or severely reduce taxes on cars will you be able to get a civic/corolla for under RM70k. The influx of foreign cars also means our currency loses strength against other currencies and our local auto industry is affected. Loss of jobs and inflation and a weakening currency. Hence, the price (in RM) may even increase due to a weaker currency. *disregard car prices on Aussie sites. They are not OTR prices that include all the hidden costs. new news from Proton, looks like Proton is not for sell after all according to Najib!
QUOTE PUTRAJAYA: The Government, seeking a partner for Proton Holdings Bhd, ruled out selling its entire 43% stake to Volkswagen AG. taken from today's star http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...73&sec=businessVolkswagen, the Government's preferred partner for unprofitable Proton, wants a "substantial" stake in the carmaker, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said in an interview. "It's the national car," Najib said. "It can't be all of the stake." Proton needs a partner after losing half its market share to competitors and posting its first annual loss in at least 17 years. Control of an alliance may be key for Volkswagen, which would gain access to South-East Asia's largest car market. Volkswagen possibly wants a stake in the manufacturing division, Najib said. Andreas Meurer, a spokesman for Volkswagen, said talks were continuing and declined to comment further. Volkswagen is Europe's biggest carmaker. Najib declined to say if acquisition talks were limited to Proton's manufacturing facilities or to name other possible partners because talks had not ended. Offers and counter offers had been "bandied about" and negotiating positions were always changing, he said. "Whether we can give up a substantial stake, that's the question," Najib said. "Substantial means majority. Are we willing to give up a majority in the manufacturing side?" Najib said the Government was prepared to let a foreign partner run Proton without political interference. The Government also hadn't "closed the door" to companies other than Volkswagen, he said. - Bloomberg |
