Hi, I'm thinking of getting a new laptop. I am currently having an ASUS A555L and it is.... feels like going to die on me soon. My usage also has changed according to my lifestyle. (I used to render 3D but I have stopped pursuing that career path). I also find that image loading is super slow and quite sure it is not due to internet speed. Like, i am browsing the same thing from my phone and it feels faster (pinterest). Anyway, I just feel like getting a new laptop.

Please recommend me a laptop that is :

Brand : No Apple and Acer

Budget : Something less than RM3000. However, do advise me if I have to fork out more than that.

Usage : Video streaming, fast upload and download and loading of images (Pinterest, Tumblr, website, Facebook). Heavy on images. Like even opening a folder on my laptop. (The current one, nowadays it hangs when I open a folder.)

Requirements : It would be nice to have a lighter laptop. And a long battery hours. A more solid body maybe? This current ASUS one feels very plastic and fragile.

Thank you!

Why not Acer? Brand doesn't matter much in laptops (Apple is exclusion)

Do you need 16GB RAM? Need high sRGB display?

Give a range on max weight and min battery life (kg and hours)

Hi there, well Acer used to be quite bad. Maybe they have improved and I might consider.

I was just thinking of mentioning that I multi-task on my laptop a lot. Yes I think I need a good processor and high RAM.

I'm not sure about max weight... less than 2kg maybe? My current laptop is 2.3kg.

Battery life... I'm not sure what's possible nowadays. 8 hours? But I multi-task so I understand the battery will run out fast. Would be great if can stretch it as long as possible.
