1. Budget : max 4k

2. Usage :
- Work + Casual Gaming
- MS Office
- Website
- Streaming
- Work as an Engineer. Lots of AutoCAD viewing, Emails, Typing
- Casual Gamer (Cities Skylines)

3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :
- 13-15inch Display
- Battery life is not a factor
- Weight prefarably not more than 2kg (move around alot)
- Prefer to have a nice design (alumininium)
- Good Keyboard for typing (a MBP user before)
- Prefer i5 and GTX1060 but AMD equivalent is ok for me too.

Brands (Models) in mind: Lenovo (Y Series), HP (Gaming, Envy), Illegear (Onyx Lite). Can suggest others too.

Asking too much for the budget

I would be willing to increase the budget if the upgrade worth the cost. What you reckon? Do I need that much firepower or MX150 is good enough?

If you are typing a lot you need to get a good keyboard. So do you plan to type a lot or game a lot , that's the question

You may consider Lenovo T480s also with MX150/MX250 or their T490s . The keyboards are legendary in it. Onyx does give you mechanical keyboard however it's not the sort of keyboard you want for typing , e-mail and lots of other things. I just wanna give you the heads up

I would type alot of emails and papers. Games are more for casual but it would be good to have solid one.

Checked out T480, seem to fit my budget. Nice design too. I'm quite noob in this but is MX150 is good enough? i5 or i3?

MX150 can get you to play games but you gonna lower down the settings to 720p or something like that. Now here is the fun part of T480, it has a Thunderbolt 3 Port (not all the laptops have it at that price rnage)
which means you can buy a eGPU casing + any GPU out there and use it.

So hook it up to an external monitor (or internal - if you use internal lcd , it will take some fps hit) and you could start gaming seriously

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ll32K3yo6Pg - You can take a look at what kind of expectation that you can get out of the MX150

I configured an i5 8250U + MX150 + 256GB SSD + 8GB of RAM + 3 year on-site next business day warranty - it's RM 4255
! is an eGPU (so you can bring it home and play games)

How much would eGPU would cost usually?

Depends on the games you play, also video settings
*
At the moment, just city simulation games like Cities Skylines just to fill up my time between flights.

Since you travel a lot and want a durable laptop , go for Thinkpad. Plus the MX150 can handle the game (not at the highest setting , super graphics) but you can get it done pretty well. Need more battery power ? you can always buy an external battery
I looked around and found a similar spec from HP Envy 13-ah1027tx (i5-8th/8GB/360GB/MX150) price is abit cheaper and can go for EPP too. How's the build quality for HP and their keyboard?

Anyone recommend?

Thank you

Hi Guys, I looked around and found Thinkpad E490 - RM 3889 with the specs as below and matched my budget. What do you think?

Is Radeon RX 550X 2GB ok for normal setting games?
Is the 1 year warranty good enough? Does Thinkpad tends to have issues after 1 year?
I scout for reviews around but not many because they just launch the E490, but it seems they have a cooling issues with last year's E480 (Radeon RX550)
