I'm looking at this:

Lenovo Y530
i5-8300H
8GB DDR4 2666MHz
GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5
1TB 5400rpm

Seems like a good value for around 3.4-3.5k.
At first I was looking at 1050 laptops but they cost like 2.6-2.9k with 4GB RAM.

But now I'm not too sure. I'm going to play Apex Legends and CS:Go so I think a GTX 1050 should be sufficient right?

Apex need at least 1050TI at 1080p

81FV016UMJ has low sRGB display and needs SSD upgrade, otherwise good. Can also consider Illegear Raven and Commandos Glock 5

Wouldn't mind the sRGB because I don't do any advanced photo/video editing. Then I guess I could add on the SSD upon purchase or later then.

I checked out the Commandos Glock 5 seems interesting. If use i3-8100 sounds good.

Seems like Acer Nitro 5 (i5-9300H + GTX 1650 RGB GDDR5 + 256 GB SSD) is in market now for quite a good value. Only need to add another 4GB RAM to run dual-channel. Can be found on shopee/lazada 33XX-34XX.

Luckily I waited on the Y530.

I do not need to wait for reviews to tell you that I wouldn't buy a Nitro 5 simply because of the weak cooling setup.
I know that repasting and under-volting are ways to go about to reduce the problem but honestly, I believe a laptop should be delivered to the consumers as is and shouldn't require a user to go about performing changes.

I realised I wouldn't really game. But once in ahwhile I would play CS:GO, overwatch and Apex Legends. Most of the time I'll be on work/browsing.

I saw a MSI PS42-8RB-430MY last unit for sale at SenQ for rm3399. i5 + mx150 2gb gddr5 + 8gb ram + 256gb ssd.

Also researched that it should be using the mx150 25w version.

Wonder if this is worth it.

Or would I be better off with HP Pavilion 15-cs2010tx (i5+ 4gb + mx250 + 256gb ssd) for 27XX 🤔

Wouldn't recommend PS42, build quality not on par with its price

Any preference on weight, battery life and display size? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradable RAM?
*
Weight: <2.5kg
Battery: >3/4 hours
Display: Don't really mind sRGB as long as decent. 13-15.6" is fine.
RAM: Prefer dual-channel ram i think

OK with dual channel soldered RAM and single channel upgradable RAM?

Forgot to ask, what's your budget?
*
Both options are ok. Prefer 2.8-3.5k if possible.

MX150 10W, high sRGB display, non-upgradable RAM:
Acer Swift 3 SF314-55G-547H
Asus Zenbook UX430U-NGV176T

MX150 10+W / 25W, low sRGB IPS:
Lenovo Ideapad 530s 14 81EU00NRMJ/ SMJ/ TMJ/ UMJ
Acer Swift 3 SF314-54G-52L8 / 59WJ +RAM
Acer Swift 3 SF315-51G-55UH / 56T6 - non-upgradable RAM
HP Pavilion 15-CS0033TX +RAM+SSD - small battery

MX130 (940MX) / Vega 8 (dual channel) / R540:
Lenovo Thinkpad A485
Lenovo Ideapad 530s 15 81EV00DVMJ +RAM
Lenovo Yoga 520 81C80016MJ / 17MJ +RAM
Lenovo Thinkpad E485, E585 - small battery
Lenovo Ideapad 330s-14IKB 81F400SFMJ / GMJ / HMJ +RAM - below average battery life
Lenovo Ideapad 330s-15IKB 81F500S5MJ / S6MJ +RAM - below average battery life
HP Pavilion 14-CE0082TX / CE0083TX +RAM - small battery

Actually you can go for gaming laptop just like the previous recommendation. Nothing wrong buying gaming laptop even though you don't game much since some models meets your weight and battery life requirements. Got new 1650 models aldy

Thanks for the help bro. I'm going to put Acer Swift 3 SF314-54G-52L8 on my watchlist. Seems reasonable. Also not the crippled mx150. Add on another 4gb ram then should be good.
