Is this ok?
Anyways I don't really mind with 13inch

Wow TMT sell so cheap...yeah the model itself is alright. Just need RAM (only 1 slot) and SSD (M.2) upgrades

*

Just add SSD and do clean install

I have the Mastergel Maker Nano...excellent paste overall

Here's a good guide on which thermal paste to buy for laptops, in case anyone needs it:

HP ENVY x360 - 13-ag0003au

same price with my modified A485 lenovo but this laptop looks more elegant n style...

No business quality, no upgradability, performance+battery life issues. Better display though. Specs don't mean everything

Need recommendations for gaming laptop. I tried  ASUS FX504 only to find out it has been locked to 25 W TDP.

*Budget rm4000±
*Preferably either i7 8th gen (1st priority) or 1060 (w/ i5)
*Usage for comp sci course, virtualization and gaming AAA titles (not always 1080p)
*Extra features: fan noise can be controlled 4 lectures, no  blatant throttle like fx504, if possible doesn't look like gaming laptop too much
*
Any preference on weight and battery life? Max budget can stretch?

Well, preferably the ones under 2.5kg I can't ask too much for gaming laptop so anything goes and I don't care too much about battery life

Max budget probs 4200
*
All with 8750H CPU (needs undervolting, repaste is highly recommended):
1. Illegear Raven with 144Hz IPS - with fan control software
2. Asus GL503GE - need to find good deal
3. Commandos Glock 5 with 120Hz IPS - idle fan noise needs some tuning

For your budget, you won't get a decent laptop with 1060 GPU unless you're willing to sacrifice cooling and some build quality

Do you need dGPU? Do you mind low sRGB display? Do you need macOS?

No one can guarantee a laptop (any brand) can definitely last long, it mainly depends on luck

Hi guys

[attachmentid=10055064]

Between these 2, which is better. I lean more towards Asus due to SSHD inclusion as I'll be using this laptop for a lot of office works & photoshop. Gaming usually FF XV & planning ahead for DMC5. But HP omen has thunderbolt port & 144hz screen. My budget is 5K & if you guys have other recommendations within the price bracket, please suggest away. Tq

Do you really need TB3? Any preference on weight and battery life?

Omen dc only has 144Hz panel in 1060 6GB model (in Malaysia)

Can consider Thinkpad A485, below 3.5k only
Ryzen 5 Pro 2500U, 8GB dual channel, 256GB SSD, IPS, optional 24+72Wh battery, 3yr warranty

You can also refer to my approval list

Any within budget for Lenovo or Asus?
*
Lenovo Ideapad 320s 14 with RAM+SSD upgrades, but not 15 inch and has weaker GPU. Asus only has Vivobook in this price range (there are also Zenbooks but with weaker CPU) and most Vivobooks are mediocre (S530 is decent)

Haha, TB3 actually not particularly important on this purchase as this is company's laptop entitled for me. Nope, both weight & battery life are not deciding factors for me but preferebly in 15.6" form factor.
*
If you want 1060 GPU:
Commandos Carbine 5 (Clevo N950TP6) with 72% NTSC 60Hz IPS, 144Hz IPS or 60Hz UHD
Level51 W15 Lite (Clevo N950TP6) with 120Hz TN (probably needs calibration)
Illegear Raven (TongFang GJ5CN6E) with 144Hz IPS

Would you mind getting 1050TI?

Greetings, can anyone give opinion on AMD Ryzen 3 vs an i5 , I noticed the price differences with same spec and was wondering if there is much of a difference for the higher price point.

I’ve read some benchmark and explanations but I still don’t have a clear answer to the question above. ( Specifically Envy 13 vs x360 )

Main usage purposes are multibrowsing, read e-book and movie/netflix.
Strictly no gaming. Thanks
*
Ryzen 3 mobile: Intel 2c4t performance. Quite a big difference TBH

Which models? If you're asking Envy x360 13, don't get it unless you need the SFF, 2 in 1 and good display. Ryzen mobile in 13 inch Ultrabooks will have inconsistent+poor performance and worse battery life
