Need help deciding between these 2 laptops

Asus TUF FX505g and Acer Nitro 5

Both have the same specs :

- i5-8300h
- 4gb ram
- 1tb HDD
- GTX 1050 4gb

My budget is rm3000, the asus price at shops is at rm3099 and the acer is at rm2999, i dont mind going a little overboard for the asus if its good, can help deciding between the 2? Laptop will be used for mostly college stuffs only ( words, excel, powerpoint etc.) If gaming, i would like to run most triple A games smoothly with playable framerates, dont mind at all if its on low settings. Btw first time laptop buyer here 🙋‍♂️ be kind to me 😂

I would not recommend these two models. If you're maximum budget RM3,000, then it's recommended to settle for a lower end CPU and a lower end GPU. However a lower end CPU and a lower end GPU wouldn't be able to play AAA games smoothly with playable framerates. The specification you listed will be able to play AAA games smoothly with playable framerates. However in any TUF or any Nitro laptops, the cooling is terrible and the overall experience is disappointing.

Illegear Raven is over budget by RM300 but far far better and is what I consider as the most affordable model to be able to play AAA games smoothly with playable framerates.

Absolute max budget? Any preference on weight and battery life? You need at least 1050TI IMO which is above your budget

Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradable RAM?

If SSD not enough capacity you can upgrade by yourself

Don't really mind. 8GB RAM should be good enough.

Thank you.

Help having trouble between these few models
Price range around 4.5k

Mainly for work and mobility
Data processing
Power point presentation
Occasional movies

After surveying my options are
HP Envy
Asus Zenbook
Swift 5
Asus Vivobook
Lenovo 720s

Wanted to consider XPS but a bit out of my budget

Any suggestions?

If that's the case , Nitro 5 would do the trick

You can run Triple AAA titles in native 1080p with Medium settings also , eSport games would be fine (if you are into that) - since your budget is super tight

Again it depends how picky you are. If you are okay to scale down and play in low/medium at 1080p ...
