Hi looking for recommendation for valuable laptop
Brand = any
Budget = the lesser the better
Usage = for office work, presentation only. Not require for gaming / multimedia, prefer with durable battery, light to carry.
Prefer to have good service and extended warranty

Anyway any "convertible" tablet with keyboard that can do the job too?
Thanks..

Since no-budget , how about top of the line MacBook Pro 15" , it's about RM 15k

If really no budget constraint ,you can get a workstation class notebook which specialise in CAD software.

Dell Precision 5530

Intel core i7 8850H
16GB DDR4 2666Mhz
512GB M.2 nvme ssd
4GB Nvidia Quadro P2000
15.6 inch IPS ultrasharp screen
97WHr battery.
Roughly 1.8kg ,

Easily outrun macbook pro for almost half the price.

Budget: Rm3.5k, lower the better.
Usage: Daily usage, no gaming, no photo editing.
Requirement: Lightweight, good battery life, solid build, 8GB RAM at least.

Previously I was aiming Ideapad 320s-14IKBR. Wondering if I can get a good Thinkpad at this price. I don't mind any brand as long solid build. But again, seems like Lenovo really fits in "tough business".

Hi Sifus,

Any rekomen for the below? smile.gif Thanks in advance.

Budget: 2.3k (inclusive of cost to upgrade to 128gb ssd and 8gb ram, if build comes without)
Usage: office + normal surfing + media (movies etc)
Size: 13-14"
Screen: nice bright screen (sRGB doesn't matter as long it's a decent panel) - can get 1080p panel at this price?
Battery: >5 hrs
Others:
- dGPU - Intergrated graphics should do.
- decent build quality with slim bezel
- weight preferrable <2kg

Thanks in advance!

Side question: what u guys think about the performance and battery performance for amd ryzen 5 with Vega graphics i.e. HP Envy 13?

1) Budget: <4k (if i5) or <3k (if i3)
2) Use: basic word processing, make powerpoint slides, web browsing.
3) Specs: touch screen WINDOWS tablet, SSD 256GB, 8GB RAM, <1kg
4) Special needs for presentation in hotel:
- can connect to projector (prefer wireless connection, or at least support usb-c to HDMI/VGA connection),
- audio output to hotel's PA system via 3.5mm jack.
- minimum 2 USB ports (one for usb-C to HDMI, another one for laser pointer doubled as powerpoint control)
5) good to have: support charging via powerbank, support external USB hub/ converter (more USB ports, 1 HDMI/ 1 VGA port, USB-PD charging)

I've 2 brands in mind - Acer Switch 3/5, Lenovo Miix

I noticed that basic i3 laptop with 4G RAM, 1TB HDD are terribly laggy. Wondering if 2-in-1 tablet with i3 processor/ 8G RAM/ SSD will be smooth enough, or i5 processor is a must?

Preferred min battery life in hours and max weight in kg? Any preference on display size? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradable RAM?

Need to bump up budget a bit

Acer Swift 3 SF314-54-55JD / 57FD / 59T5 +RAM or Lenovo Ideapad 320s-14IKBR +RAM (1 slot only) +SSD (NVMe only)

Low sRGB display usually not that bright

Ryzen laptops have inconsistent performance and battery life in general

8GB RAM+SSD = smooth

No preference on battery life?

The whole event rarely >4 hours. So, 5 hours battery life showing powerpoint slides, play some videos should be enough.
