just a brief comparison,
mini-dv:
+ more mature & cheaper in both media & camcorder
+ better quality as in raw format
+ good for video editing
- hassle & time consuming (1:1 duration during transferring to pc and countless hour in video editing, but it's fun for me blush.gif )
- need a decent pc spec for video capturing or else suffer drop frames

dvd-camcorder is on the other hand; the selling pt is no hassle in transferring, just put-in media into player and enjoy the show.

u can playback directly on your tv by hook-up dvcam to tv.

to playback frm dvd player, u need to transfer frm dvcam to pc, encode to dvd format, burn as dvd for playback.
