Actually the water bottle doesnt spill enough water for my gerbils. Everytime they try to drink I gotta be there to press the bottle so that more water come out.

Is there bottles that is for mini size and medium size rodent?? Only meant for hamsters and smaller animals?
*
What? Most water bottles for hamsters work well because those bottles are for rodents.... what kinda bottle are you using? Critter Canteen? Habitrail? Delikate? Wild? KingFisher?

Is it transparent? Then the cover is black? I'm using that I think.... so far that is not bad.

There is no need to squeeze the bottle, coz if you do that, you are actually making the bottle's condition worse.

Yea that's it! The cover is black.. But the gerbil seems to be having difficulty sucking it. The water coming out of it is too slow.

LOL... they don't suck lah.... they lick. The water is suppose to come out slow so that there is no leakage, and it controls their drinking as well so they won't choke. This goes for Habitrail and Critter Canteen but then Habitrail is prone to leaking and also the cover breaks after long usage.

This is called Gravity bottles, the water flows according to gravity, not pressure. If you squeeze it, you will disrupt the vacuum inside, causing the bottle to leak later on..... The water should come out in drops.... 1 or 2 drops at a time each time we push the metal tip. It should never flow freely out. Just droplets.

Do you include veggie and fruits as well? Gerbils do not drink along of water.... 3 gerbils of mine actually share 1 tank, they need about 1 week to finish the bottle... sometimes 1.5 week. This is coz of diet. If you feed fresh veggies and fruits often, they don't need much water.

They will drink when thirsty, do not worry. They can go longer without water than hamsters.

When you refill the water, do you test to make the water drip out nicely but never leak? Also, you cannot fill the bottle full, you need to leave at least 15% of space so the vacuum can work.

ok the bottle....

the problem of this bootle is there is the rubber ring at the cover there right.. with the tiny hole...

the bubble will stuck there n don't flow throught the bottle, so after they finished the water in the TUBE. no more water for them. what u can do is...

cut the hole abit bigger, but cut bit by bit till u roll the ball and u see bubbles flwo up to the bottle. also the cover u canot turn tooo tight.. gam gam no leaking will do. n don't be greedy to cut big hole 1 shot then u bottle will bye bye.... cut bit by bit till u see the bubble flow out. its a good bottle to use smile.gif

Rubber ring? No... mine has no rubber ring, I think.... the rubber ring bottle leaks if I do not place at the correct angle LOL.....

Foo, you had this problem before ah? Hahah... I never see this happen to any of my bottles before.... so far all good working bottles, but I hate Habitrail. Prefer Critter Canteen....

Yesterday something a bit weird happened. I gave my gerbils a bit of bread for breakfast, then I cleaned their tank, threw away all the shavings with the leftover food and wash it.... then refill the tank with clean shavings and straw, then I went to clean the other tanks... few hours later I came back to that tank.. then I saw the pieces of bread still there in the tank. rclxub.gif

I guess you didn't notice the bread lor.. perhaps a few of your gerbils still having it in their mouth.. just biting it but you can't see since their mouth is at the bottom?
