Proud of everyone for their fighting spirit but disgusted with kepa's attitude.
Officials managed to get one over us as well. Incompetent morons. On to the next match. |

QUOTE(kucuboy @ Feb 25 2019, 03:31 AM) Watched the game as a neutral and my god, my blood boiling seeing Kepa's antics. Disrespect the manager, coaching staff, and the game. He should be banished to the reserves. So much for being world's most expensive goalkeeper Young blood getting to his head but I'm also annoyed azpi and luiz didn't just drag him off the field. Totally unprofessional and undermines a fantastic team performance. Haih. |

I was initially fuming at what happened but after reading about sarri's explanation that it was a mere misunderstanding, I hope everyone can just move past this as soon as possible. Whether it really was a lack of communication between the gaffer and the team doctor we'll never know, but I'm quite glad maurizio didn't throw kepa under the bus because he quite easily could have, especially after we lost.
The media were going to have a field day anyway so no point dwelling on what happened. Kepa will be fined, maybe dropped a couple of games but at the end of the day he's still one of us. Not condoning what he did in any way but with still a lot to fight for this season it would be wise for the team to focus on what can be salvaged from our remaining fixtures. Let's not take away anything from that amazing performance, especially in the second half onwards. We could and should have won, if we just had a bit more composure in their half or if the officials actually did their jobs. Love the fact that sarri threw on emerson, and proceeded to take a chance on odoi and RLC. Yes the latter two came on a bit late but I'd wager 99% of the fanbase were relieved it wasn't the same old barkley / kovacic merry go round again. Nice to see the lads fighting hard for a result and after the 6 nil mauling city gave us, you'd never guess they're actually capable of pushing them all the way. Kante's one on one which was unfairly stopped by zinchenko, that cutback from eden which he just failed to lash home, Pedro's one on one down the right where he inexplicably tried to find a teammate, ruben's zidanesque touch and through pass to eden which was wrongly called for offside, we had an array of great chances to win the game. Like I mentioned before, if we lost I'd still be proud of this lot and I stand by my words, even though the kepa incident leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. If we can show this type of pride and spirit for the remainder of our matches, then we'll secure a top four spot, you can be sure of that. MOTM is between kante and emerson for me. Apart from a couple of unnecessary dribbles, I don't think emerson lost his man once for the whole game, except for that one time sterling got past him in ET. Even then that's understandable for a player who was knackered due to a lack of game time, and yet he still confidently dispatched his penalty later on. Really showed what he was made of, and sarri definitely has to consider him as our first choice leftback now. |

Dreading watching the replays of the incident. Sigh. I believe this is the first time something like this has happened in the roman era? Heck not even the much maligned AVB and scolari had their authority blatantly challenged in the open like that.
Have to keep things in perspective though, kepa is still considered 'youngish' in terms of footballing age and it really was a rush of blood (albeit the stupid kind) to his head and the adrenaline got the best of him. He's going to look back at this one day and realise how stupid it was. But for those of you calling for our most expensive signing to be sold, I don't think there's any chance of that happening. You new fans want an example of an ex-player who truly let his unprofessionalsm ruin his club career? Go look up adrian mutu at chelsea. Of course the media will have you believe this is the worst thing a CFC player has done in the history of football and yes I expect the older fans to know better. I know many of us have been sarri out at various points in the second half of the season, but this incident should not contribute towards that. If anything I respect the gaffer for managing to compose himself before facing the cameras and playing down the incident. You're deluded if you believe someone like jose or even conte would do the same, and I think sarri handled himself well and will deal with kepa properly behind closed doors. No point giving the media more ammunition, they already have enough of it. Now If we can just get one over spurs in midweek, the mood in the dressing room will be transformed and things will look up again. |

QUOTE(zoidx_chung @ Feb 25 2019, 04:46 PM) I admit we've been 'teased' a few times already this season on sarri's supposed willingness to change. I'd be fine with at least three of those, mainly caballero, cho, and RLC, as emerson did play the full 120 minutes and took a pen. Sarri's justification would be tiredness and although it annoys me that we don't have any other option, alonso will most probably start. But just like you, I'm not going to get my hopes up |
