So I've been a Unifi user for over 5 years but they require the contract to be renewed for another 24 months if I were to switch to the new RM129 plan, and they won't even provide new equipment for contract renewal. If the government ordered them for the price cut how are they allowed to force another contract on existing users, this is such an anti-competition practice.
Should I wait for Time or signup for Maxis?

I thought all plans changed to 129 will refresh contract? At least this is what being told to me by staffs in Menara TM and others who have changed can confirm too.
*
Yeah, that has been the sole answer from TM on twitter as well, never heard anyone renewed without a contract extension.

Totally agree. Everytime new cheaper package comes out, renew contract. That is the only thing TM knows. Existing subscribers are left in the dark unless they visit TMPoint, and must renew contract or stay at old expensive package with slower speed.

Time way of adjusting customer to new package really put TM to shame.

This is an obvious anti-competition practise to delay direct competition with Time and other Telcos for another 2 years. The govt's inaction to go against them is not looking good.

Hey guys, what is the fair price for Asus AC86U imported unit with no warranty (aka international warranty)? How does it compare to Unifi stock router since it's free?

I just got my bill. Amazing, I'm paying RM 129 for 500Mbps. I will retract my complaint tomorrow. icon_idea.gif

The thing is suddenly I'm being charged with 2x UniFi TV package - Aneka and Ruby each RM 30 and total RM 60. Internet is RM 69 only after RM 160 discount.

How did you get this deal?

......Is TM really serious in charging RM179/189/199 for 500Mbps while 300Mbps costs RM139 as per MCMC announcement?
*
If 300mbps costs RM139 they have to revise their 100mbps/RM129 to make it cheaper, don't they?

Finally cut my ties from TM after more than 10 years. From Streamyx at 1 Mbps to Unifi at 5 Mbps & finally to Unifi at 10 Mbps. I have to say that  had no issue with TM, service was good and they will always respond when there's technical issue. Being the only provider at my place, I have no other options.

Moving to a new place that has Time Internet available and the package is too attractive to resist, Time's 100 Mbps at RM99 vs Unifi's 100 Mbps at RM129.

This is when my problem with TM started. TM requires a 1 month notice for termination, I send them an official e-mail to terminate but they were late to review it, therefore my notice period only starts when they key in the request into their system. Had to go back & forth with them to finalise it.

Tried to cancel my auto debit but TM said that only the bank can do it. Contacted the bank and said it is TM responsibility. Contacted TM again but they gave me a round around till the payment was auto debited.

For termination, I need to return the BTU back to TM Point. Luckily I checked TM website for an actual TM point as some authorised dealer advertised themselves as a TM Point which they are not. Termination can only be done at an official TM Point only. Most TM Point near me is at an area where parking is limited and the place is small and packed with people. Went to the one in Kepong early morning & after close to 1 hour waiting, I finally surrender my BTU and terminate my TM account.

Thank you TM for all those years. You could have done better to your customers but you choose to stand pat and milk the customers as much as you can. It takes the new government to issue a directive before you decided to give your customers better offering.

My apology for the long rant.
*
Maintenance and unscheduled downtime happen far too often, not good at all. They are making it so hard for customers to terminate service while commencement of service takes no time at all, the govt should take action against these practises. I will not hesitate to switch to Time once they are available at my place.

Have to look carefully at the dates as its pro-rated bill and Unifi is pay 1 month in advance.
Maybe this is the reason some haven't got turbo especially if they are out of contract. If you go switch package, they get you on a new 2 year contract.
*
How is it possible that they're charging in advance when the monthly bill must include phone calls usage? I thought my bills were always for charges of the previous month, am I missing something?

What ploy? They all do it. If you're not moving around a lot or a home owner, 2 years contract is nothing. Not defending them, but contracts are a necessary hazard for telecom services, even that subsidised iPhone comes with a contract, right?
*
Except it's unethical to force additional contract period on existing users especially those who are no longer under contract, and don't forget that this is the directive from the govt, they should not be allowed to place conditions for customers to opt for lower priced packages.

My friend managed to get 300mbps by upgrading to the 30mbps package NOW for rm139 down from rm149/10mbps and was told will get guaranteed turbo speed by the end of this year (said it's the same for all users), which means the speed will be 30mbps for the next two months and get turboed latest by January, contract is renewed for 2 years tho.
Is this a good deal? Should I try to do the same?

Up to you. If you don’t need 300Mbps, I would not recommend it. You will need a good router and your devices must be able to support it as well.
*
Why? Is 139 not a good price for 300mbps? How much is everyone paying for 300mbps?

What was the speed of your previous plan? 30mbps? Renewed contract? What are the changes to your unifitv and phone plan?

You have to try to get the price reduction at TMPoint by complaining about your high package price and requesting for price reduction, especially if you are in high-rise and do not have any other option to take like the RM129 100m package. This is what the other users here have done.

Also see what cskean has posted 3 posts above this one.
Can you ask your friend to check in the customer portal and see what is the package name listed there for the RM89 package. Are you sure RM89 is total price? Because if add RM30 UnifiTV, it totals to RM119.

The RM119 package that CS told you must be what some other 30M users have got previously. Did you get details of the package like voice calls, UnifiTV etc?
*
Will this RM119 plan be turboed to 300mbps?

I just called TM regarding my turbo status. The staff who served me said my account will be put under phase 2 which can only get turbo-ed within Jan-June 2019 cause she said my area need to upgrade the infrastructure  cry.gif May I know anybody got the same reply when he/she called TM to ask about turbo status? Felt so unfair that I have to pay so much for 30 Mbps shakehead.gif

Which area? I thought all users will be turboed latest by the end of year?

I heard from people that we can terminate hypptv service after 1 year into our contracts, so a few weeks ago I went to a tmpoint to do so. They told me that I cannot terminate it because it's a 'fixed' bundle and that I am only able to cancel additional hypptv channels/packages after 1 year but cannot cancel the base/basic hypptv subscription completely. Is this true or I've been lied to by TM? I hope someone is able to clarify this.
Thanks in advance

Additional info:
Yes, my UniFi has past 1 year at the time of my inquiry.
I'm on unifi 300Mbps (Turbo Upgrade 2018) with Ruby Plus Pack (Promo)
Monthly bill is RM179.00 (before ST)

Guys, is new contract (not the RM129/100mbps plan) guaranteed for new equipment? Can they charge RM50 for a technician visit?
