Yup, Unifi TV is my other source of entertainment apart from the usual Netflix, YouTube etc.

Or maybe I opt for a slightly lower speed router, Archer C9 or C7, no?

I've read blacktubi's blog on his experience with C3150. Sounds good.

Thanks FusionXY for your feedback.

Not a fan of C9 and C7 as they comes with an older chipset which perform slower.

C2300 is also something worth considering.

bro... just want to ask. I'm a Maxis home wifi installer. but i do have doubts. im using huawei nova 4. occasionally i install 300mbps (300mbps DL and 50 UL) superfast package. sometimes i do get a speedtest of 190mbps for download and 45 for upload... sometimes 230mbps for download and 40++ for upload.. why is that? what affects this in my fon? and what spec in this fon that plays a part of this different speed test.. plsss guide me

Maybe a TV analogy is easier to understand.

The station broadcast in FullHD signal but your ancient TV can only receive normal signal. Even if the tower broadcast in 4K, your old TV won't see all the benefits. Same condition to your phone WiFi speed.

You need a better phone to reap the full benefit. Kinda surprised you guys are not trained on this considering how Maxis advertise their so-called Max-perts. laugh.gif

how to check if the device support this 2x2 40Mhz 802.11n aka dual band?
*
Check the spec sheet.

N300 is definitely 2X2

40Mhz on Wireless N is almost impossible these days especially on apartment due to interference. The router will not run at 40Mhz even though you force it.

If use phone Redmi Note 9s, can get wifi speed around 600mbps, if use same router with you ?
*
Xiaomi only says it support Wireless AC but didn't mention whether it is 1x1 or 2x2.

For cheaper phones, assume a maximum speed of 500Mbps.

Nice, 2x2 on a lower end Qualcomm SoC

500Mbps shouldn't be an issue.

i am facing slow data transfer speeds within the computers in my home wireless LAN. i am using WiFi 5 mesh wireless.

i can get full speed for my 300Mbps unifi plan to Internet.

however, i get super slow speed when I am transferring files between the computers in this network. why is it? I had done all the necessary recommendation from the Internet sources but still the same.

SMB file transfer is a TCP protocol and it scales horribly when high latency is involved. Your dual-band system is probably terrible at handling congestion.

Just do a ping test and see how high is your latency when you are transferring files.

Hence, that's why newer mesh Wi-Fi in the market focus less on raw speed but more on congestion management these days.

Mine is Tri-band mesh.

I thought you are using MR8300 with WHW0101?

Anyways, those older mesh are notoriously bad at congestion management which will lead to poor SMB transfer speed.

yes, MR8300 with WHW0101.

so somehow it is impossible to improve on the speed? seriously the speed of 7 to 8MB/s to me is way ridiculous and it is way far from the theoritical speed.  cry.gif

but funny part is that why i can attain 300Mbps speed to Internet with no prob while transferring files between devices under the same wireless LAN can even be such low speed.

I will try to explain it in layman terms.

That's the nature of the SMB protocol. It's latency sensitive as the client need to "revert back" that it received the block before sending another block. A higher latency will slow down the entire process as it takes longer to "revert back".

If your mesh Wi-Fi or router is bad at congestion management, any sort of network activity will spike up the latency significantly. Hence, that will lead to even slower SMB performance.

Perhaps you can try to do a simple ping test to the router when you are copying large files over SMB and see what's the latency.

Guys quick comparison question:

Dlink Ax3000 vs TPlink Ax73.

in term of overall which one is better?
*
Don't even talk about overall.

There's nothing the free D-Link AX3000 is better than TP-Link Archer AX73.

The AX73 is better at the CPU performance, Wi-Fi range, Wi-Fi performance, features.

I see, for mesh network can 2 units of Ax73 being connected?

Only V2 hardware version support EasyMesh

V2? Basically the router name got V2 word on the box right?

Check hardware version on the serial number barcode area
