Built in adapter are always better provided that they are from the same generation.

Built in laptop of course, but if you have no choice, get USB wifi adapter.

Currently my laptop on support 2.4GHZ( brought it in 2013), need 5 GHZ to connect to school wifi due to wifi congestion and interference, internet connection on 2.4ghz wifi(at my college) can suddenly stop working bangwall.gif bangwall.gif might upgrade to a new laptop probably around 1 year time. Will USB wifi adapter be practical?

House type: Landed
Size of house: not sure exactly, 3 floors( 2 floors in use)
Features required: Prefer Asus for its long-lasting update, currently using an Asus RTAC68U + TP-Link powerline with built-in AP
Number of devices connected to WiFi:10+ devices
Internet Speed:30mbps(may upgrade in the near future)
Budget: probably 1K+ as long as it fixes the issue

Not sure if this is the right place to disscuss about this

I was wondering if I should switch my AX92U region and enable 160MHZ for wireless backhaul(5G-2) between both AX92U

Hi I do have a Tplink T9UH sitting in it’s box unused(since I’ve upgraded my laptop), I do have an old desktop(usb2.0 ports only) and has an Dlink DWA-172 usb WiFi adapter on it

Is it worth “retiring” the DWA-172 for the TP-link T9UH?

Using Unifi 100 mbps, AX92U mesh WiFi system

Or should I continue using the DWA-172?

Mod, any idea how to utilize my LAN 4 ? It's programmed for Unifi IPTV  doh.gif Suppose for my gaming port sia
*
Do you use unifi TV(the white color unifi TV box)?

if yes, then you can't use it for anything other than unifi TV service

if not, you can go to Lan>IPTV> select the unifi-busniess profile

Anyone can share their Unifi 30mbps settings for asus RT AC86U.
I got this router from china last year. I followed the auto settings online. Then the saw people solution to set LAN>unifi home. Other than that nothing manual. IP i saw is 192.168.50.x range.
Router system logs show PAP connection success (i think this is the unifi account authentication). Router led all white means should be working.
However Network  Map status still show no internet and status disconnect.
I used this router for TIME last time but now downgrade.
Anyone can screenshot their settings?

If not mistaken, China model need to enter vlan manually(as mentioned in page 1 of this thread)

Unifi internet: 500
Unifi TV(IPTV): 600

U mean select manual instead of unifi home/business?
Can u share settings if manual?
*
Since China ASUS router model doesn’t have unifi vlan profile

Just select manual and then key in

Internet: 500

Lan 4(IPTV):600 -> if u are using unifi TV

Hi, I currently have a triband router(AX92U), recently wired in my node with Ethernet

Should I open 5G-2 to for Wi-Fi clients to connect( I don’t have any Wi-Fi 6 client at the moment, majority Wi-Fi 5)

Hi, will there be a benefit to upgrade laptop WiFi card from WiFi 5 WiFi card (intel 8265ac) to WiFi 6/6e WiFi card (intel AX210)? Sometimes I perform file transfer on the local network

Current WiFi router: ASUS AX86U

Just want to leave this here, for those using Apple devices, consider getting a Broadcom based router.

Apple is using exclusively Broadcom Wi-Fi 6 SoC on all their products and they seem to perform better and more stable when paired with a Broadcom based router.

Just wondering does this still apply today? sweat.gif

Like for example with new asus router model such as tuf ax4200 and tuf ax6000?

What about RT model such as ax53U and also the ax57?

normally enable QoS will disable hardware NAT acceleration.
*
I see, this means that Adaptive QOS would disable NAT acceleration?

i am not sure if adaptive QoS will disable the nat acceleration or not but for sure QoS Bandwidth Limiter and NAT Acceleration are functions that cannot work at the same time. You can only choose for one function to work at a time.
*
hmm.gif, just performed a factory reset and I’ve found out that enabling adaptive QOS and IPSec VPN Sever would disable Nat Acceleration

Don’t recall this is an issue on older asus router with Broadcom chipset sweat.gif

Anyone familiar with the signal strength of the Asus AX56U?

Not sure if the antenna count has practical effect on performance.

Considering this model or the others such as Asus AX1800U or Asus AX55.

The AX56U is actually EOL sweat.gif

Hi just wondering, the AX92U speed 9ft with line of sight(unobstructed) to the router, is it normal for me to sometimes get 300-400 mbps on the 5ghz-2 band(wifi 6), tried my laptop(intel AX210), iPhone 12 both getting similliar results?

Was able to achieve 500mbps over Ethernet, looking to improve my WiFi performance

Use fast.com to run your speedtest and set at least 30 seconds test duration and see whether it can reach 500Mbps eventually.
*
Got around 430mbps with 30 sec min setting sweat.gif

That's strange, RT-AX92U on the second 5GHz band should perform at least 800Mbps

Did you touch any settings on Wi-Fi page?
*
Other than changing the SSID, Wifi password, Enabling wifi 6 features, the rest are on it's default settings
