QUOTE(FusionXY @ Oct 7 2020, 05:29 PM) Deco E4 only have 100Mbps LAN Port. I saw TPlink Youtube show connect the M4 to router Not advisable to use on 100Mbps plan. Below 100Mbps is suitable. Get the M4 for better performance. M5 will be better due to different processor. Thanks. Network Optical Terminal > EC230-G1 (Router) > Deco M4 or Network Optical Terminal > Deco M4(as router) so the modem mention in previous post is which one? (For Time fiber) Edited I think I get the answer at 2:19, both is able to work This post has been edited by tachlio: Oct 7 2020, 09:19 PM |

Just upgrade to Deco M4, the parental control seen not working.
1. I created a parental control group : Kids access device 2. Include 2 device : OnePlus 3 Phone, Lenovo Yoga Laptop 3. Filter categories : Child 4. Added website : Youtube, www.youtube.com, youtube.com, google.com 5. Browser : Google Chrome 6. App : Youtube However, both devices are still able to browse youtube as usual. I confirm the device Mac address is correct. If I choose to stop the group internet access, it works! But parental control seen not working at all for keywords. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Anyone been working fine with Parental Control Setup with TPlink system? QUOTE(Gaza @ Nov 1 2020, 12:58 PM) for unifi 300 mbps & double storey bungalow is deco m4 or deco m9 better? planning to add on for my parents house Get M5 if only your parent not a heavy internet user. M9 is using having advantages on 5g wifi backhaul, more future proof, but its still Wifi 5. If your house able connect both point with wired backhaul, M5 = M9 But again you can add Wifi 6(x20/x60) and using M9 as node in future. This post has been edited by tachlio: Nov 1 2020, 07:47 PM |

QUOTE(phantommvp @ Nov 25 2020, 04:17 PM) Hi sifus, My condo 1300sqft, using Deco M9 now... no more dead spotI am currently staying in a 1500sqft condo, and using stock Maxis router (500mbps), am thinking if I should upgrade the router to AX20 or Huawei AX3, as I am having very bad signals in the bedroom (1 wall from router). Will either of the routers improve my current wifi coverage? Thanks in advance! Cheaper option will be M4 or M5 |

QUOTE(Lisa_87 @ Nov 27 2020, 09:05 AM) Hi all, need help badly! M4 / M5 dont had Wireless backhaul, so connect to knob will reduce 50% of speed.House size: around 3200 square feet (2.5 sty terrace house) Features required: can set static ip and dns for my chromecast, else not able to cast us server number of devices: 20 Internet speed: 500mbps (maxis home fiber) Budget: 1k + - currently using maxis stock router (Archer C5v) with add on deco M4 2 unit. one unit attach with router, another unit in upper room. modem and router placed on second floor room. now the issue is living room and kitchen very weak wifi signal. in the room or on second floor, can get up to 480+mpbs speed, but upper room will only get 100+ mbps, while living room and kitchen at most also 10+ mbps. please recommend a good router and please advice if i should add on more deco for living room and kitchen? My house just 1350sqft and single floor, using M9 Plus, its overkill but 0 dead spot. As you having 3 floor, Wireless > Get those having wireless backhaul, M9 Plus or X60 Wired > M5 x3 or x20 x3 This post has been edited by tachlio: Nov 27 2020, 06:13 PM |

QUOTE(Lisa_87 @ Nov 28 2020, 12:42 AM) Either Deco can be Router by its self. The remaining will be knob/slave Even future you can upgrade better Deco and using existing Deco as knob. Remember, Mesh is not compatible between brand, its mean if you choose TPlink Eco System, you need to stick with it. Some big brand like Netgear, Asus do having good option too, I choose Deco coz getting some deal of it. |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Nov 29 2020, 11:26 AM) But can one use the Deco nodes in tandem with a OneMesh TP-Link router like the AX20? Basically the nodes are just slaves then. Deco Mesh and OneMesh is different thing, they dont talk to each other. You can add Repeater like RE2xx/3xx to Deco Mesh but its work like repeater, not seamless mesh that original Deco Mesh do. Again, Mesh always better those repeater thing |

QUOTE(Marcian @ Dec 5 2020, 12:14 PM) Thanks, will check that out. If I upgrade my broadband next time to 200mbps or more, will it still be supported? Check this for Deco performance https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2423/Rmb connect to knob will loss 30-50% on M4/M5 if wireless backhaul. M9 Plus having dedicated 5g wireless backhaul so the performance loss is reduce, but M9 Plus is Wifi5 If wired backhaul X60 > X20 > M9 Plus = M5 > M4 Wireless backhaul X60 >M9 Plus > X20 > M5 > M4 Check your need before purchase |

QUOTE(Vintage @ Jan 7 2021, 01:44 PM) hi, i just bought deco m4 2 pack and just realised that the mesh would replace my current router. as my existing router is tp link archer c6, am i able to connect deco m4 through the archer c6 router? Yes, change to Deco mode to AP, and do disable A6 wifi to prevent overlap of signal.Suggest just using Deco as router since you not bring benefit js added A6 in between. |

QUOTE(adix4 @ Jan 25 2021, 08:31 PM) hi which one is better for a 3 storey house Mesh is not godlike solution, lot of consideration like wire/wireless backhaul, node location, device technology etc.but my goal for the connection is only for the 2nd and 3rd floor as the modem and router will be placed on 2nd and 3rd (twin pack deco) My current router can get signal upstairs (living room) but once inside room everything is kaputt Deco M5 or Deco M9? Eg, in term of max speed M5 and M9 Plus is equal if you wire backhaul. https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2423/ |

QUOTE(sonicmaster @ Feb 10 2021, 09:27 AM) For example, if my speed is 30/ 100mbps, do I feel the difference compare stock ac1200 and ax73? My house is double storey Yes, AX having more band that less unlikely having overlap with other. Its sure will improve a lot from AC1200. Somemore you able add RE505X if need for double storey This post has been edited by tachlio: Feb 10 2021, 09:43 AM |

QUOTE(ckimsem @ Mar 1 2021, 08:32 PM) Currently, I'm using TP Link AX50 which is a WiFi6 router. The TP Link Deco M4 mesh listed as AC1200, which given by TM for upgrading to 300mbps. If your use case is need larger coverage M4 will be more suitable. (presume you able wire backhaul)My question is if I use the Deco m4, it seems like I may increase the WiFi coverage but downgrading back to WiFi5, am I correct? Is it better to use AX50 if I don't have wifi coverage problem? Thinking of selling the Deco M4 to offset the bill if not really needed/useful for my case. Hope someone could clear up my queries, thanks. But if small area and AX50 able to cover, Wifi6 is better choice. |

QUOTE(ckimsem @ Mar 2 2021, 08:23 PM) I’ll be connecting the M4 wirelessly, wired backhaul is not possible. Old house here. You wont able connect AX50 to M4 wirelessly, so you need cable between AX50 & M4.In fact, AX50 coverage is enough for my house except the kitchen part which no one sit there. But, just want to know if there’s any benefit for using M4 other than larger WiFi coverage. I haven’t got the Deco M4 2-packs yet. TM just call me yesterday (01/03) for the offers, and today (02/03) my plan already upgraded, unifi 300Mbps - Loyalty Super Value (Broadband + MESH WiFi M4) Previous plan was Try Me Broadband 100mbps. Then M4 need to set as AP. Then AX50 & M4 if set same SSID, you will having issue(when moving around) as both is not Mesh system, so I dont see benefit you using both together. If really want to try, using M4 as router then put another M4 to extend the coverage. |

QUOTE(cannavaro @ Mar 10 2021, 04:41 PM) In the midst of upgrading the wifi at my family's property.. Theoretical E4 is limit to 100Mbs but torrent is not only the speed but the peer connection. (P2P)I am thinking of doing a cheapskate lazy QOS. 7 TP Link Decos being used with ethernet backhaul along with a dumb gigabit switch. The gateway is either M9 Plus or X20. The other 6 Decos being the E4. The account is 800 Mbps. The so called 'QOS' is at the fast ethernet ports of the E4. Expected number of devices using the network, about 50 to 80. So if someone decides to torrent non stop or such, the rest of the users (except for those connected to the same E4) won't be affected much, I reckon? Feasible? So during torrent the X20 also will having a lot of load/response from E4, could impact the response time too. But you can set QoS in X20 to choose device will priority to minimize it. Next, do you need M4? or M3W already serve the propose as wire backhaul. (Smaller size and plug mounter which look neat) https://www.tp-link.com/my/home-networking/deco/deco-m3w/ |
