QUOTE(abcdef123456 @ Jun 16 2021, 01:31 PM) Hi Sifus, may i know why avoiding ax50&ax73? Have some quick questions Currently using tplink router provided by tm (2 antennas),can’t really remember the model For 2.4,i can only get at most 30+mbps (thats the best condition).Normally i can only get like 10-20mbps for my 300mbps unifi plan. While inside my room, sometimes i could not get the wifi(just seldom). Let say, i buy a wifi 6 router, saw some comments that ax50&ax73 should be avoided. How about ax10 or ax20 which one is recommended? Following is the most important,I do not hope for extreme fast speedtest. But wifi 6 router will it be able to achieve speedtest within 50-120mbps stable for 2.4ghz?I do not own any ax devices as well. And is the wifi coverage will be better than my current router? Hope anyone can solve my doubt, thanks! |

QUOTE(Scissorshand @ Jun 16 2021, 06:22 PM) Am using one main router AX20 located upstairs hall, am satisfied so far with the connection and stable speed cos sub to 100mbps. Built up approx 2800sqf Why not invest a onmesh? Connecting to another AX20 or M4 meaning you need to pull network cable from your main AX20, if not wrong long network cable to reduce the network connection quality...Below is the speed and connection taken while I'm at the front porch which is OK. Would adding another AX20 or M4 (connecting to main via wifi) as mesh is worthwhile? |

QUOTE(chastise @ Jun 15 2021, 05:57 PM) House type: Landed When you mentioned 500mbps package with 30-50 download speed, may i know how far is your device from the router when you did the test?Size of house: 5800 Square feet and 3 floors Features required: None Number of devices connected to WiFi: 12 Internet Speed: Unifi 500mbps Budget: 1000 Currently running on stock TM DIR-842, my speedtest runs between 30-50mbps download speed on wifi. Devices mostly on wifi so will need to upgrade the wifi router and possibly added wifi mesh. Any recommendation? Maybe you could consider a new Mesh router and pair with few extender or repeater.. |

QUOTE(chastise @ Jun 17 2021, 06:02 PM) I realised the problem is with the stock unifi router. Bottleneck issue. Would want maximised speed and coverage so extender and repeater is not sufficient for my usage. Before considering a new router maybe you should check you existing router is getting good speed result when your device is near to it. If yes, maybe a mesh wifi should able to fulfill your current needs.I'm going for M9 Plus but now considering whether i would wanna upgrade the 842 to ax73. If you planning to upgrade your router, go for Wifi 6 and pair with wifi 6 mesh otherwise M9 plus should be good enough for you. This post has been edited by nokia6280: Jun 18 2021, 09:20 AM |

QUOTE(abcdef123456 @ Jun 16 2021, 01:31 PM) Hi Sifus, 1. At the back of your router should have the router model.Have some quick questions Currently using tplink router provided by tm (2 antennas),can’t really remember the model For 2.4,i can only get at most 30+mbps (thats the best condition).Normally i can only get like 10-20mbps for my 300mbps unifi plan. And is the wifi coverage will be better than my current router? Hope anyone can solve my doubt, thanks! 2. Since yours are 300mbps, from router specs both AX10 and Ax20 are meeting your requirements unless you have a plan to upgrade to 500mbps than go for AX20. 3. Whether you could achieve better speed, there are few factors that could affects. 1st is your unifi can go beyond 30+ mbps like > 200mbps? if can't you may need to report to TM that something is wrong with your connection speed. 2nd. you should know that the farer you from the router the slower the speed. So don't expect consistent speed covering your entire house. lastly, is the thickness of your wall and your house design could also affect your internet speed. Just my 2 cents... anyway i am not sifu... This post has been edited by nokia6280: Jun 18 2021, 05:20 PM |

Because most of the issue either the SP or the router... You may consider to get TM to diagnose 1st..I'm going for M9 Plus but now considering whether i would wanna upgrade the 842 to ax73. |

QUOTE(ksuuk @ Jul 7 2021, 03:08 AM) AX73 official firmware very old (2020-09-29) and without app (yes, there are still people without smartphone), is impossible to adjust home shield options, pro options needs subscription, a lot issues with wifi6, bad wifi5 coverage. Seems all new AX models are having similar issues, so I definitely won't buy it. Just my personal view la,1. Old firmware - If stable enough there is no need to regularly update, regularly firmware updating usefully were due to either new features or closing loop holes. 2. Homeshield - majority of people have mobile phone so not a major issue for me. 3. Wifi5 coverage bad - my 1500sqft double story every anger full bars. 4. All new AX having similar issues - not sure cause i only have ax73 and when comparing with my old wifi router this AX73 is superior for me. 5. You definitely won't buy - up to your preference. |

QUOTE(vignaroli @ Jul 6 2021, 10:57 AM) i have ax50 currently, but after 2 wall and inside bathroom i unable to get stable wifi signal (5ghz) while 2.4ghz at my apartment seems very congested will buffering alot of time. i never use AX50 before but my AX73 has no issue after 2 walls do you think if i changed to AX73 or Ax90 can cover my current wifi deadspot ( bath room after 2 wall from Main Router) ? My plan is Maxis Fibre 500mbps, i have try mesh router can solve my problem but can't fullfill my other requirement, the mesh router lan port occupied by iptv/vlan if serve as main router and i cannot plug lan cable to my smart tv and tv box as the mesh wifi only have 2 lan/wan port (1 used as wan, another occupied by iptv/vlan, i disable it then cannot get internet connection for maxis fibre) |

QUOTE(ksuuk @ Jul 7 2021, 06:44 PM) Firmware is not stable, for example: Archer AX73 Connection issues with all devices - https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/251108 Archer AX73 reboot when connect LAN NAS to it - https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/252190 Search for more - https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/search?keyword=AX73 Network device must be 100% directly adjustable via LAN with CLI or WEBUI. What coverage and speed at what distance gives 2,4 Ghz? I also think that 1500 sqft double story covers any device, AX73 is designed for 3 bedroom houses, but for example does not cover 2500 sqf, however C80 does. |

QUOTE(LYenHoong @ Jul 21 2021, 12:36 PM) House type: Landed If i were you i will complain to Maxis again, tell them your problem and demand to replace back KAONMEDIA AR2140.Size of house: Around 4000 sqft, double story Features required: Router that can work with Maxis Fibre, Wifi 6 preferred Number of devices connected to WiFi: 20+ Internet Speed: 500 Mbps Budget: ~RM500, but flexible Hi, would like to seek your advice for a new router. Just changed to Maxis Fibre 500 Mbps package, and was provided with the KAONMEDIA AR2140 and a Deco M4R (2-pack). The KAON router worked very well with almost no downtime at all, but failed after a month or so. Got the Maxis technician to come and they replaced it with a Huawei LG8245X6. The Huawei router doesn't seem able to support the amount of devices, with packet loss and lag spikes for 2-3 minutes every hour or so. Don't need super wide coverage, as it will be covered by the Deco M4, just need a stable router that can handle the large amount of devices. The budget of RM500 is flexible and can top up if worth it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! |
