Got some questions for Unifi stock router Tplink ac1200 (black, 3 external antennas) - is the version 1.0? And it is also known as c5 ac1200? I didn't see the version number on the box or router. - is it compatible with openwrt and any issues to be aware of before flashing openwrt?
------------------------------ Update- Found out its the c1200 model which is not the same as the c5 and is not compatible with 3rd party firmware.

Hi, just want to ask, I am not sure if I were to replace my tm router, dlink ac1200 giga lan , on 800Mbps unifi
was going to change to to Asus rt86u my friend said its overkill. Want to change the current router Because of its tm firmware force to connect to somewhere as stated in the home menu of the router and it feel slow.
If I wanted a stable router with a cheaper option for ( gaming , torrent , NOx streaming) and I am focus in cable And good recommendation beside that I was looking at (asus rt 86u ). thanks in advance for the inputs.

RT-AC86U is an AC2900 router, local new set should over RM1000. You can get TP-LINK C3150 or C4000 with lower price, but newer hardware and technology.

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ May 11 2019, 10:22 AM) C3150 is new hardware, and 86U is older tech. FYI, AC86U is having the latest CPU from Broadcom which is faster than C3150. It is in fact a much newer tech than C3150 although it is released before C3150. ASUS always release something before other competitors do. Not to mention 512MB RAM on the AC86U vs 256MB on the TP-Link C3150. A comparable model would be Archer C2300 as it comes with the same CPU and 512MB RAM. Although being 3x3, it will outperform the C3150 with a 2x2 or 3x3 device.

if you don't mind with the 802.11AC technology, close both eye and go for AC86U. You will never go wrong...
