100mbps unifi plan
Objective is coverage since any decent router can handle 100mbps these days. < 10 devices in total. Landed semi d.

Should I buy
1x AX55 to use as main router, and the original unifi DLINK 3060z as mesh node?

Or get a DLINK 3000z as a node using the 3060z as main router?

And I have to say ASUS AC86U is yyds.. using in my own place since 2019…
*
I will suggest not to cross brand EasyMesh, save yourself some headache in future

Crossing brands will be prone to roaming, speed drop and a bunch of other issues

And, I will stay away from using the provided router too, it's kinda slow

Anything from DLINK can use as master? And reuse original router as node?

Before considering a new router, have you tried playing with the wifi channels on the BE230? It could just be a channel congestion issue (maybe neighbours using same channel range).

do you need full speed? or just signal coverage?

If you don't mind having half the speed just minimal for normal usage then I would suggest getting a used router and place it near to bedroom 3 or just at the bedroom 3 itself.

be230 router supports wps , im pretty sure through the tp link app you can find the wps function. then just the wps function to pair with the router i suggest next.

what model should you get for a used router as a repeater? I recommend you Fiberhome Ax3000, plenty going on for rm100-120 . and is reliable enough for daily usage.

so far im pairing my 2 X50s with this fiberhome and working flawlessly, just that you might need to adjust some settings for it. but after that it will not give headaches or bugs.

I usually wfh so I think sufficient signal is good enough.
I do have a spare c2300 router.
Budget wise, I think around 2k.

you may try pairing the c2300 with your be230 and see if the wps method may work or not. but since c2300 is a wifi5 and easy mesh was only recently introduce for wifi6 ranges then i guess is either WDS or wireless ap. but that would reduce the speed by a big substantial . if not..just go for the same model or slight higher range of the be series.

Hello all,

I am staying in a 80m2 single floor apartment, at 300 Mbps

I will have 10-20 IOT and few hand phones+ laptops.
I am thinking between TP-Link Archer X72 Pro vs. AXE75.

Price wise not much difference from where I am located. Logical or overkill? AX55 was also in the pic, but...iot stuff scared kenot handle

Thank you

Hello sifu, I have some questions/issues facing for TM UNIFI 300 mbps (free upgrade from the 100 mbps).

1. Currently I am still using the default TM wifi router for like 3 years now. It is starting to be unstable i.e., occasional disconnection for a few seconds especially during the night time when my housemates are home and using the wifi. Is this because of the router starting to be faulty and unable to handle the big data stream?

2. I have a Fiberhome SR120-A that I brought from my home. I tried to set it up by myself, however I am not able to connect to the internet using it. Based on my searching online, I need to go into the Advanced Setup in the backend, but my Advanced Setup only has the Quality of Service (QOS) option. Those online guides and videos have the set up internet options in their Advanced Setup. Anyone used Fiberhome SR120-A before and know how to make the options appear?

Thanks in advance.

Have you returned the BE88u already? Can you remember if VPN Fusion on the 3.0.0.6 firmware has a toggle to enable a kill-switch for WireGuard configurations? Lack of that feature is my biggest complaint in the 3.0.0.4 firmware.

Kill switch is a feature on ASUSWRT Merlin, not sure whether ASUS added that feature officially

I couldn't remember if there's this thing on ASUS official firmware

By right should be able to...as TM personally modified fiberhome router firmware catered for their isp settings. have you tried search on youtube for the settings guide?

Only thing to worry is it still under warranty or is the device over heating..the only thing comes to my mind about Asus router that it overheats due to the performance of their routers .

If I were you, I would youtube search on how easy or easy to dismantle it. because I will either change or add in new thermal pads first thing first for their routers .

Actually the last warm ASUS router is the RT-AC86U

Their WiFi 6 series runs at pretty normal temperature, on par with the competitors

The RT-AX55 emits very little heat

2. XT8 Twin Pack Replace both old Router?

Or Sifus can advise better upgrade or setup? Tq very much

try setting up another SSID 2.4ghz band just mainly for CCTVs, see if it helps. if it solves your problem ,don't need another node, or just simply get a used router and set it up just mainly as a node for IoT devices

blacktubi I currently own an Asus AX88U, what would be a good model to upgrade to? I have a budget around the same price I paid for my current router, around RM1.6K hmm.gif

Should I consider WiFi 7 instead?
