Thinking to get a Xiaomi Air Purifier for bedroom.

Are air purifiers a waste of money?

I don't have allergy, asthma or anything.

Is it just a hype?

What do you think?

effective in removing dust and odour. i had stubborn durian odour in car for a few days. left the air purifier in the car overnight and the smell had reduced significantly in one night. repeated for another day and it was almost gone.

also, i have one in the wardrobe to help control fungus which used to plague my clothes especially those not worn for sometime.

As long as u are just as healthy and fine without the purifier, then perhaps there is no need to buy one. Unless, you need one because of odours or someone in the house as some medical condition

I think usually ppl with indoor pets will get one to control the smell and also to trap the fur of the pets. I got myself one cuz i have a bunny running around and it helps but i wonder whether it will work that efficiently in a room with windows open or nto.

I got the Xiaomi Air Purifier 2, good for dust and sensitive nose, as my area now full of constructions and lots dust that causes bad air quality, turn it on in closed living room and you can feel the differences.

Good choice. I was considering an ionizer only. HEPA bags can be expensive (or at least my impression). Thanks for sharing.

If I were not mistaken, ionizer doesn't work well in high humidity environment.
Malaysia's climate is humid.

I got a Coway air purifier after I have my cats cause their fur is everywhere and their poop still smells even I'm using a covered litter box.
But it doesn't really work with faeces's smell la. Funny thing is it gets very sensitive when I got out from bath ah, use perfume ah or air freshener, everything that smells good will makes it turns red. Then when my cat poops, even very smelly it also remained blue. (The litter box is just next to it)
Fur also don't help much, my cabinet, rack, floor, everywhere still can see their fur.
But when the agent come for service, the filter is coated with fur and dust la, so it still got help abit i guess?

low hum sound becoming apparent now as it ages..lol. it was quiet when new. i no longer put it in bedroom, i put it in my study room instead. the higher end models should not have this problem. same with low end panasonic fpx-j30a which was okay when new but then started to emit humming sound after a year. now i put it in my wardrobe to prevent mould. but the panasonic fpxm55 which is in my bedroom is very silent even after a year

Years ago, I have frequent itchy nose so I bought a Sharp Plasmacluster. The itch did went away and my house was less dusty. Hubby did an experiment where he fart near the purifier and the light indicator really did went from green to red (means there's pollutant) sweat.gif . It does clear off the smell from my cooking rather fast.

But.... when the hepa filter expired and I tried to buy a new one, surprise! The electrical shops I went (Harvey Norman, Best Denki etc..) all not interested to help me to order a new one. I guess no commission for them for refill parts? Now I have a monster machine in my house that cannot be used.

This is need to consider and think twice before buy an air purifier, think of servicing and the filter servicing, else it will be a problem also.
