I'm a fan of Google's services and their superior camera, but those aren't enough to convince me to dump the better apps and overall consistency of iOS, not to mention the far better customer support in msia

Pixel 3 will be officially available in Singapore this time. Means should be easier for support or warranty claim done through trustable third party sellers in Malaysia.

Ofcourse Apple still better in the end.

Guys, currently im using ip8+, planning to changes to ip Xr, is the screen really downgrade? Btw I always watch youtube/netflix on my phone.
*
This is a very good question. I also wondering the same thing. My bet is 8 Plus screen is better since can view 1080p videos, whereas iPhone Xr can only view max 720p videos.

Hope someone can clarify on the matter.

YouTube will still provide option for 1080p playback. Just like the current iPhone 6, 7 and 8 models.
*
You will have that option but your phone will only output 720p video as that’s the max for the Xr screen capability.

In other words, it’s like putting RON 100 into a car that can’t take full ability of the petrol quality.

im currently on 8+ as well. As it is as tempting as it is, I would refrain myself from buying the Xr. Here's why
1) 1 year old device only. Why change? Unless you have spare cash to burn
2) 8+ is the perfected iPhone with the bezels design. You are kind of like using the best bezel designed iPhone in the market.
3) 8+ have 2 cameras at the back. Xr is not able to do certain things where the 8+ is able to. Youtubers covered this. I think it says something like not able to take portrait photos anything besides human.
4) 8+ is notch free.  biggrin.gif
5) Besides battery, chip, display reso and size, authentication type, colours and 3D touch, I see no reason to upgrade, unless #1.
*
Xr still has some worthy reasons for an 8 Plus user to buy.
Faster processor, Face ID, better camera, price point also very cheap when compared to X or Xs.
But overall, I’d go with the 8 Plus because of the screen. Not a fan of notch and the low resolution.

I cannot brain those that insist on watching 1080p content on a handphone screen?  whistling.gif

Not that you can see the difference between 720p vs 1080p on such small screen as compared to a flat panel tv.

It will only waste internet quota  doh.gif

If you have been fine with 326ppi all the while on previous iPhones, the same will go with XR's screen.

It’s not only ppi but also consists of “resolution” were talking about here. Maybe won’t notice the difference but it’s there. Anyways something below from Reddit:

How to properly view the Xr according to the internet.

I agree. I think that Verge review of the Xr puts it well. How much value do you put on your screen display? Apple says $250. So if the display is worth that additional amount of money, then the Xr is not the phone for you.
*
The display will be the main thing you use to interact with your phone.

A lot of the YouTube videos I watch regarding the Xr did say they will opt for the more expensive Xs mainly for the better display (meaning they think that it’s worth the extra $250).

Actually those who have budget for XR 128GB at RM3849... can consider the XS 64GB HK set from T&L tomorrow, only RM3,899.
*
This is a good idea, considering official Malaysia Xs 64gb starts at rm4999. Price difference is amazing.

hey guys, I started to feel the wording is not as sharp as my iphone 8 especially when browsing the lowyat page. Probably due to the same resolution on bigger screen.  rclxs0.gif

Not a deal breaker though. Still can't justify to go for XS just because of the screen.
*
There’s always a honeymoon effect. After that people who bought the Xr will wish they got the X or Xs instead.

If you’re used to LCD your whole life, you won’t notice it, but once you get a feel of OLED, you won’t want to turn back.

when they paid the extra for XS and XS Max, I am sure that they got no choice but to ‘make sure’ they can ‘see’ the pixels. Haha.

I’m wondering how the the screen real estate is? Like same website, how much more info can be viewed compared the Plus models to the Xr models.

Worry Apple will introduce more 3D feature in the future and regretted didn’t get the Xs. I don’t care abt the oled vs led. What bugs me is the lack of 3D Touch.
*
3D Touch is not something I use often but it’s nice to have and I feel once you use it, hard to go back to life without it. It’s just really nice to have.
