Exactly. UnboxTherapy and his ignorance really blew every little thing out of proportion. His channel is nothing but clickbait, outrage marketing, and an advertising platform.
Here's pictures comparing XS and XR side by side, zoomed in.

QUOTE(NubPro @ Oct 28 2018, 03:04 AM)
Was an Apple hater (sort of) back then and pure Android guy, coming from a Nexus 6p guy.

I hated Apple because of the price and how plain and boring the iOS is. Undeniably, I gave up on Android and planned to jump ship to iOS mainly because of how unreliable Nexus 6P was, built by Google and Huawei and none of the party was willing to address the bootloop issue plaguing the Google's flagship. I forked out 2K+ on the phone and it didnt survive a year later after the warranty expired. The phone has it issues, I had the phone exchanged after realizing the mic had some issue. The build quality is certainly not up to par and surely shouldn't have costed 2K.  Again, Google nor Huawei are addressing these concerns.

I was tired and fed up. Google stopped issuing software updates for Nexus 6P this year, its stuck in Oreo forever. A phone from 2015, just mere 3 years. The phone did not age well at all. This phone was targetted at a niched market, I have fallen for it. It was the worst decision I have made, I told myself.

Looking at the options, it's clear to me that I need a change. And so, I gave in.

I got to give credits to Apple where credits are deserved. Long term software support. Reliable as in the performance never takes a dip. My sis iPhone 5 still functions well despite the terrible condition of the hardware buttons. A 6 year old phone!

My gf phone iPhone 6s released on 2015, god dammit, it  works flawlessly to this day despite the cracked LCD (LOL!) It performed waaaaaay faster than my Nexus 6P which can barely play PUBG smoothly (Oh dear, please don't hate on me)

Had I bought an iPhone 6s in 2015, you wouldnt see this  post. As it would still work terrific for me and I wouldn't doubt myself to invest in a new phone. (I think)

Although iOS is plain and simple, I came to a realization that owning a phone which just works and most importantly, no lag, no stutter, none of the long app loading time is beyond critical to me. Android is not bad by any means. But Apple, getting the basics right and longetivity are what I needed the most now. That was the final nail to the coffin.

I went on Lazada and bought the Xr and gotten myself 1 year extra warranty (I got super panaroid ever since). Hopefully you won't see me ranting on this forum ever again. If you do, I would most likely craft my own OS and create a new era of smartphone from scratch. Just kidding.

Apple please don't let me down. Pleaaaaaaseee

Anyways, thanks for reading and good night!

QUOTE(NubPro @ Oct 30 2018, 03:44 AM)
Here are my practical reasons which ultimately made me to choose the Xr over X, Xs, Xs Max. Hopefully you will find it useful when you are contemplating between the 4.

Price played a major factor for me, my budget is around 4K. Initially, I wanted to buy a used X which can be purchased with less than 3.5K. *Drooling* However, after heeding some advices, I decided to play the safe side, avoiding scams or tricks by strangers and many unthinkable things (Eg: Internal parts getting swapped without you knowing). It just doesnt worth this amount of money to justify the risk I'm plunging to take. So I backed off and holded on.... waiting for Xr...

I waited and waited. Still comtemplating..til I went ahead and get my first hands on with the Xr.

First impression, damn that bezel. Although, being noticeably thicker than the other flagships, I could forgo this sacrifice. You may ask why. I was stucked with a phone (Ehem, Nexus 6P *coff* disappointment) which had a gigantic forehead and a chin (Roughly 2cm on both sides), I had quickly gotten used to it. And demn bezels never bothered me, they say humans are quick to adapt. I agree and so I'm willing to take up on this drawback that is if you consider this as one. I'm guessing slapping the Xr with a case would make the bezels less prominent to our eyes? I could be wrong here, will let you know about my thoughts after having one. [Though, nobody have asked for sad.gif ]

Oh yes, the screen. Speaking of the screen, one of the main reason I wanted to buy a used X over the Xr is simply because of the OLED Crisp HDR panel against the LCD of the Xr. Is OLED superior than LCD? Yes. I think it does. It's very sharp and vivid.
So why Xr over the X?
Screen size. I wanted big screen, I love big screen. The bigger the better. I'm accustomed to it. I type faster on big screen with two hands and auto-correction off turned off and overall, it's just a better and comfortable experience for me. I enjoy viewing videos on a bigger screen and having the ability to read more content out from a bigger screen is a huge bless for me.

Why didn't OLED matter to me you asked?
I took a good 10mins time comparing the display quality of Xs and Xr side by side. Both produces almost identical color space. Their colors looks the same to me abeit there are some significant difference in the color white (Just open up the Notes app and see for yourself). The white on the Xs looks erm...white. On contrary, the white on the Xr looks yellowish. Do I mind that? At first, yes. A minute later, no I really don't. I can live with it. Plus, the white hurts my eyes. That could be the worst excuse you could ever heard, but thats how I really feel about it. The text on the Xs do looks sharper but it wasnt significant that could make me say "Oh gosh Apple what have you done! How dare you cheap out!" *Insert many many angry faces here*

I love OLED, but the cold hard truth is OLED panels are pricier to produce and it is even more pricier to get it repaired if you ever cracked your screen (Hah! Good luck).
You can't get everything you are craving for. That's the reality. Not to forget about economics. Well unless, you are capable, rich and busy, just get a Xs or Xs Max. There save yourself the time.

Lets not forget about HDR on the OLED screen too. I would like to have a screen that can screen HDR content (Who wouldn't!?). Hold on...wait a minute, I don't even consume any HDR content, so why would I need one? I don't and so again, I was fine with the Liquid Retina Display on the Xr or as you know it - the old traditional ordinary color-accurate LCD panel. Yes, 828P. I would expect Apple to bump up the resolution or come up with something new (Like normalizing OLED displays or MicroLED for the masses) in the near future, around 2 years? I'm also expecting myself to upgrade my Xr within the next 2 years given its weaknesses. Then, it would be reasonable for me to take the leap.

Battery life. Lets make this simple, I despise carrying a powerbank (to work and constantly wondering around) and my last device (Nexus 6P) has a screen on-time of less than 4 hours. Crazy.
Xr with a lower resolution display would stretch the battery life much further than both the flagships (If this test performed is reliable). I have yet to be able to test it myself, cause I'm still away from KL.

So thats all what kept me to stray away from the 4. Hope this helps and again, I should be sleeping at this hour. Geez.

If iOS is not your thing, just get Note 9, which has all the above
