Hmm... seems to work fine with no problem. At first I thought this will be closed beta.

Just installed it, seems cool, better integration with Windows Vista :-) Other improvements are yet to be discovered

try reinstalling the PLUS. cos when u install this beta will automatically uninstall de PLUS you installed previously. so try again lo..let me know oso cos im a PLUS user

Installing sucessful, but after apply the a-patch, wlm 8.5 wont start any more
 hint: dun modify too much, espcially dun select "polygamy", "shorten status info in info bar" and "remove billing info menu"  hint2: i didnt install other 2 services, so try reinstall it without the other 2 services and see if its work. This post has been edited by 1024kbps: Jun 2 2007, 01:42 AM |

Now patched wlm 8.5 works for me already,

aiya, wlm 8.5 UI look more tidier and look more vista-ish than 8.1 only

My problem is weird. I can install the simplified chinese edition of wlm 8.5 but us edition cannot. It keeps saying something with invalid character in the directory path in the event viewer after the installation failed. Am running the chinese edition now but take time 2 get used 2 it. Anybody has any idea how to get the us english edition running? Am using xp sp2 english edition adn am able to install Mail n Writer without problem. Weird.

OK. Finally I got the 8.5 US version installed and running but not sure is this the right way.
1. Uninstall WLM (either 8.1 or 8.5 other version). 2. Clear these 2 folder in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data a. WindowsLiveInstaller b. WLInstaller 3. Delete the installer & Messenger folder in the Program Files\Windows Live folder. 4. Run Regedit, delete this key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live\Messenger. 5. Restart Computer 6. Try install WLM8.5 US again. Note: This is my personal experiment. Please use at your own risk. Good Luck |

my case i just install 8.5 beta without moving the 8.1
here is my latest update = i found out that, whenever i start wml 8.5 beta, on my desktop there will be 3 txt files title = lcapi0, MsnMsgr, and Transport0. i cannot delete it when my wml 8.5 is running. after swith off, them only can delete. it appear again whenever im start using 8.5 anybody have this problem too? |

Just run WIndows Update and for the first time ever, I see WLM being updated via WU. Pretty neat actually.
So there is a new build (8.5. 1238.0601) now available. |

i'm not sure whether it is just the people around my office but starting yesterday, we are having message delivery issues to contacts using yahoo.com IDs via MSN. Hotmail to hotmail contacts have no issues.
anyone noticed it? |

This beta version always got problem sending yahoo messenger to them. When they IM me and i reply, sure cannot sent to them one. But MSN with MSN works well though..

but i think.i duno why everytime i open my msn messenger,always got 3 files create4d on my desktop,after delete then ok.but start again,it created again.u guys got this kind of prob kah?? |

there is a option for adding your contacts picture .. go check them out .. and i tried some of the new features looks really cool even tho mine is just a XP no probs so far

Hey i find this new msn will make my comp freeze for a couple of seconds every now and then in DOTA. if i off msn before i game, it will be ok no freeze. There is no one nudging or msging me.
anyone got such problem? |
