everytime you play a lick that requires no thinking is familiar to you smack yourself.

A good way to force yourself to learn new stuff tongue.gif

EDIT: applies for all instruments

well, but then you'll only be able to play one lick at 30000 bpm. No drummer can keep up with you then anyway tongue.gif

Which translates to 0.694444444444444444444444444444444 beats per minute...

Not bad, if you can actually pull that off, you're timing must be damn bloody near perfect... tongue.gif

Hmmm... What if he uses Mike Portnoy's kit? That needs two asses, three legs, and a couple of hands to play? That roughly translates to 90,000 bpm, almost breaching the holy 100,000 bpm mark!
Wait... Terry Bozzio can do that...

Nah, knowing how to mentally sub-divide beats per month into beats per minute and ultimately into notes per second is one of the first things you learn in Playing Solo 101... tongue.gif

That's what I thought...... You have to be careful when using the word "solo" in this forum....... most of us will think of lead guitar playing when it comes to soloing.....

To me, I always think a good backing track leads to a better performance for beginners playing solo..... playing a whole set with just you and your guitar..... it's a little intimidating......

Heck, even pros use backing track when they travel doing clinics, when bringing a whole backing band ISN'T feasible.....

I would apologize, but I've had a riot of a time in this thread... rclxms.gif whistling.gif

Never done a solo performance before, but tips-wise... I guess you should nail the piece you're playing 110% before going up on stage... icon_rolleyes.gif
