Kimi needs a realiable car, and then he can become a champ. either that or he needs to change the way he drive and be more gentle to the car and it's engine. Either way he has the speed, not the consistency, and that's what Massa have.
But the F1-2007 B-spec is really shitty. Look at how Kimi and Massa had to wrestle the steering compared to the smooth nature of Lewis and Fernando.

I think at least it has some overtaking, although they didn't show kimi passing a car. But there are some real overtaking done by Button and Fisi, showing at least they can still overtake.

If compare to Monaco or Spain, those two are worse.

Anyway good job to Lewis again. This time he shows that he doesn't need Alonso to be having a bad time going offtrack for him to win. In fact, Alonso pressured him to to point of Alonso himself making mistake and Lewis didn't crack a tiny bit. That guy is going to sweep the championship.

Alonso explains pit wall swerve
Simple cooling on the main straight...

QUOTE
A novel cooling technique from Alonso
Fernando Alonso on Sunday denied some claims that he swerved at the pit wall during the US Grand Prix to 'send a message' to his McLaren chiefs.

Some TV angles even suggested that the Spaniard also shook his fist, a lap after failing in an attempt to pass his Lewis Hamilton for the lead.

But in the post-race press conference, Alonso explained he was just trying to cool his car.

"I followed (Lewis for) so many laps that my overalls were black from the carbon brakes.
"

"I think my brakes and all of my car was hotter than normal, so I tried to pull away from the slipstream sometimes just to cool the car."

Prost: Feud could hurt McLaren
Monday 18th June 2007

QUOTE
Alain Prost has warned McLaren that the on-going battle between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton could "hurt" the team.

The two team-mates are not only locked in a fight for number one status at McLaren but also for the World title, which is currently being won by Hamilton.

Already it has spilled over into the press with Alonso recently claiming that he feels "uncomfortable" at McLaren, while Hamilton made it know that he was unhappy having to stay behind the Spaniard in the Monaco GP.

And should it escalate any further, Prost, who had his own feud at McLaren with team-mate Ayrton Senna back in 1988 and 1989, believes it could hurt the Woking team in the long run.

"I think now having two equal cars within the same team is a mistake," he told El Pais newspaper.

"In the end it will hurt them because it generates too much tension."

McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh, however, isn't worried about the growing tension or the reports of it.

"Do I expect more speculation about our guys and their relationship? Yes," he told Reuters.

"The reality is both our guys are winners, they want to win.

"If Fernando got out of the car and said he was delighted Lewis beat him, I would be very worried.

"It can be a distraction but at the moment it isn't. But when you have two competitive drivers they're always going to have a go at each other."

well, i think tht having competitions like tht is nice altho i dun support mclaren. but having team mates to compete who is the best, isn't this healthy? it also means that the team itself have good drivers. well at least it makes f1 a bit interesting, a bit la......

The most ironic thing about that Grand Prix was that because Lewis hasn't raced there before, Fernando gave him his setup which Lewis used. Wonder if he would do the same thing in Japan, brazil or China after this....

Added on June 19, 2007, 9:43 amMutual respect reigns at McLaren
QUOTE
Lewis Hamilton believes that his relationship with Fernando Alonso is becoming "closer and closer" as F1 braces itself for a team-mate rivalry as intense as the legendary battles between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.

For the first time since Hamilton's debut in March, the two McLarens fought side-by-side in Indianapolis with the young Briton refusing to buckle as the double World Champion edged alongside him. Alonso is a notoriously sore loser, yet the Spaniard was graceful in defeat in America, just as Hamilton was magnanimous. For now at least, mutual respect and conviviality, rather than the bitterness that characterised the battles between Prost and Senna, reigns in the McLaren garage.

"Fernando is extremely fair, especially at the start of the race and done a fantastic job, so well done to him," said Hamilton. "As you can see, we're extremely close. But we're very, very close on the track and I think we are getting closer and closer off track, you know. And our respect for each other I think is growing and it's great. We're really happy for the team. But once again, I'm just proud and honored to be sitting next to him as I've always looked up to him for the last few years."

Alonso caused a considerable stir last week when he announced that he had not felt "comfortable" at McLaren since joining the team after securing his second title with Renault in October. The Spaniard's post-race comments at Indianapolis were circumspect in comparison, yet while he agreed with his team-mate that they had been "extremely close", he refused to acknowledge any shortcoming.

"I really think I was a little bit quicker in the race because when you follow a car in one second distance, something like that, means that you are a bit quicker because to follow that close is not easy," he said.

Nor, despite trailing Hamilton by ten points, was Alonso prepared to accept diminished status. "I think it has been a surprise for me, and a surprise for everybody, to see him doing so well and leading the Championship at this point. But, you know, I have big confidence," he assured reporters. "We have only done seven races, ten to go. So I'm very happy with my 48 points and the championship will be decided at the end. Again, I have confidence that I can do it."

For the time being at least, the pair share data and telemetry, and hold their debriefings at the same table inside the McLaren citadel. But if, as the season progresses, the two McLaren drivers remain locked in a fight for the World Championship, the cordiality between them will be put to the most severe test.

Rumours abounded in America that Alonso had revealed his 'discomfort' at McLaren in order to gain a greater say in strategy. Pointedly, when asked to comment on the team's tactics for qualifying, Alonso invited his interrogator to question his team boss instead.

Hamilton's emergence has been the stuff of fairytales, but Alonso will have no compunction in assuming the role of the Bad Guy if it produces a third successive title.

Hopefully, both McLaren drivers will not bump each other in a race.. I will like to see them fight side by side..

I wonder why Kimi who was on soft compounds wasn't able to overtake Massa who was on hard compounds.. Kimi did a few fast laps on the soft compounds but his progress came to a halt while stuck behind Massa..

The infamous 'Prost - Senna feud' in the making again?

Kimi really impress when he started the race with hard tyres and managed to leapfrog the BMW and Renault during first pitstop.

Usually the team orders (not directly of course) their drivers to stop racing each other after their last pitstop. Maybe it's why Kimi didn't overtake Massa eventhough he's on soft tyres. Or maybe it's the dirty air from Massa's car that prevents Kimi from staying close to him before the main straight.

Villeneuve ready to suffer at Le Mans
Eurosport - Tue, 12 Jun 16:55:00 2007

QUOTE
EXCLUSIVE! Ex-F1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve has told Eurosport that the Le Mans 24 Hours is a very different challenge from racing in Formula 1, but believes he will be up to the task of competing in the classic race for Peugeot.
MOTORSPORTS 2007 Le Mans Peugeot Bourdais - 0

The former Williams star must get used to sharing his car with two team-mates, and will have none of the creature comforts he enjoyed in F1 such as a customised steering wheel.

"For sure my F1 steering wheel was great, but Le Mans has enough straights for me to rest my hands. I'm not worried about a little bit of pain or a blister!" he said.

Villeneuve must also get used to much longer driving stints and the novelty of dodging much slower drivers. The 36-year-old is nevertheless confident he will adapt.

"You have to pay attention to cars such as the GT2s, which are a lot slower than us, as it's difficult to assess how long it will take to catch them.

"You also have to watch out gentlemen drivers, some of whom take some bizarre lines and I don't want to talk about those who brake halfway down a straight!

"Nevertheless it's up to professional and experienced drivers like us to be careful, and to them not to do that."

The Canadian legend will take part along with Marc Gen and Nicolas Minassian this weekend, and despite his limited role in testing he insists he is confident with the Peugeot 908.

"We share the duties in terms of set-up but Nicolas and Marc know the 908 better as they have raced it twice, so they have already done most of the job," he said.

"At the end of the test day the car was well-balanced and suited to our driving styles, including driving style even if I personally feel the pedals are a bit far away. But a compromise was necessary and everybody is reasonably happy.

"My goal is not about chasing the last tenth of a second, it's just about finding a good rhythm. I've always been a smooth driver so I'm not worried about being too hard on the engine. My main concern is about fatigue, which is a new factor for me.

"Believe me - there is too much traffic around to think about anything except driving. But if there is any risk that I might fall asleep I will put some coffee in my water bottle!"
