QUOTE(car_o_scope @ Jun 13 2007, 08:58 PM) QUOTE(-= Virgil =- @ Jun 13 2007, 09:32 PM) Thanks for mentioning it. I forgot all about it. I went "...dancing?..." `Lewis has Alonso rattled but is no Senna` Wednesday 13th June 2007 QUOTE Nigel Mansell believes Lewis Hamilton has "rattled" McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso. World champion Alonso indicated there is friction between the pair on Tuesday when he implied Hamilton receives extra support from the team and admitted he has "never felt totally comfortable" at McLaren since the 22-year-old was confirmed as his team-mate for the 2007 season. The Spaniard's remarks came in the aftermath of Hamilton's maiden Formula One victory in Montreal on Sunday which extended his lead ahead of Alonso in the standings to eight points. And Mansell believes Hamilton's win in Canada represented a serious psychological blow to Alonso. "I don't think anyone can compete with Lewis at the moment. Alonso drove from the start of the race as though he was rattled. "His mistake on the first corner was very uncharacteristic and later in the race he broke the car. "I wish Lewis all the luck in the world and so does all of England. It will be a remarkable achievement if he wins the championship this year. "The only person he's got to beat is Alonso and he's already done that. What impresses me most is that he has Alonso rattled and that is remarkable." Mansell does have reservations, however. "Everything is going for him but motor racing is a fickle sport," he told sportasylum.com. "He hasn't made a mistake yet. He's only human and he will make one - hopefully not this year. "If he keeps his head then the percentages of him winning the world title are very much on his side. "He has done marvellously so far and it has been brilliant for British motor racing. But I am not going to compare him with Ayrton Senna or Michael Schumacher. There's a long way to go before anyone can consider that." Good link for open discussion.
http://www.bbc.co.uk Watson: `Favouritism claims are bollocks` QUOTE Former Grand Prix winner John Watson has slammed Fernando Alonso for claiming that McLaren do not treat him and Lewis Hamilton equally. Watson believes that the World Champion, who joined the Woking-based team this season, has disappointed his team principal Ron Dennis with his comments. He also argued that the Spaniard is struggling to cope at McLaren because he is no longer the golden boy. "I think Alonso is missing being the centre of attention," Watson told The Sun newspaper. "He has been the centre of attention at Renault and in Spain but obviously he's not anymore. He feels that because he's in a British team Lewis is getting favouritism. That's bollocks. "The only thing that is happening is Lewis is generating so much excitement at the moment that Alonso doesn't know what is happening. It's not Lewis' fault he's doing well and Alonso isn't. "He just has to stop, take a breath, move on and grow up . "I think Ron Dennis will be disappointed. He'll want to talk to Fernando right away and find out what he meant by it. It's disruptive and negative and Alonso needs to explain it." The former McLaren driver also said that Alonso has been taken aback by the hype around his team-mate and with results failing to go his way, the former Renault driver has begun to vent his frustration. "If you look back to Monaco, perhaps Alonso expected the status quo to be formed when the team allowed him to win," explained Watson. "He thought he'd established himself as the No 1. But there was only one name on everyone's lips in Monaco. It wasn't Penelope Cruz or Jude Law, everyone wanted a piece of Lewis. "I think it's just emotion and frustration from Alonso. McLaren are one of the few teams who don't operate a No. 1 and No. 2 driver policy. Alonso started the season as the best Formula One driver in the world by a long margin. But McLaren will always give both drivers equal opportunity to win. "Maybe he's struggled to adapt to the team. McLaren has a different outlook to Renault, it's not as emotional and is a different environment. He's also learning a new car and has different tyres. He's probably never raced on Bridgestones before, so it's all getting under his skin." http://www.planet-f1.com Grow up? Ouch! This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Jun 14 2007, 12:53 PM |

Alonso a double consecutive World Champion...so all focus on him.
Press always all over him and wary of his performance....good and bad. Indianapolis is his least favorite track. More pressure. This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Jun 14 2007, 06:03 PM |

I still hope Ferrari can turn it all around this weekend...just like last year.
It's not over till it's over. Vettel to replace Kubica at Indy 15 June 2007 QUOTE BMW Sauber's Sebastian Vettel will make his Formula One race debut at this weekend's US Grand Prix after FIA medical staff advised Robert Kubica not to race following his high-speed crash in Canada. Kubica suffered only concussion and a sprained ankle in the Montreal accident and told Thursday's press conference at Indianapolis that he was feeling 100 percent. However, athough the FIA doctors largely agreed, they felt it unwise for the Polish driver to risk the chance of a second concussion in such a short space of time. The decision means Vettel gets a race call-up, while fellow German tester Timo Glock becomes BMW Sauber's reserve driver at Indy. Vettel, aged just 19, made several impressive third-driver outings with the team in Friday practice sessions last season and this season is competing in the World Series by Renault. "Of course, I am looking forward to my first F1 race," he said, "but I wish it had come under different circumstances. It's never nice if a team mate can't drive because he had an accident. For me the Indianapolis Speedway is unknown territory, but I have prepared myself for this situation and tomorrow I have two 90 minute practice sessions. I know the car very well as I have quite a lot of testing miles under my belt." Kubica is expected to return to the cockpit for the French Grand Prix on July 1, assuming he is given the all clear by medics ahead of the Magny-Cours race. "Naturally I'm disappointed because I felt absolutely ready to race," he said. "But I respect the decision. It was made because there is too much risk to let me race in this Grand Prix in case I have had another impact so soon after Montreal. I will go home now. I wish Sebastian all the best. It is good for him and I am pretty sure he will do a good job." BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen added: "We respect the decision of the medical personnel. The team was prepared for this situation. Sebastian will receive all possible support from us and we hope for another good race here." http://www.formula1.com This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Jun 15 2007, 06:53 AM |

Hamilton dismisses Alonso`s complaints as `strange`
Friday 15th June 2007 QUOTE Lewis Hamilton cannot understand why team-mate Fernando Alonso feels the British rookie is being favoured by McLaren. Double world champion Alonso reportedly told a Spanish radio station he has "never felt totally comfortable" since joining the Woking outfit from Renault for the 2007 season. But, following Hamilton's maiden grand prix victory in Canada last weekend, he reportedly said a British driver in a British team was getting "all the support and help". Speaking ahead of Sunday's United States Grand Prix in Indianapolis, championship leader Hamilton responded by saying: "I find it strange that he said that. "I feel that, ever since he joined the team, the team has been extremely motivated to push us both towards winning. "Ron and the guys on the team have been pushing extremely hard and working extremely hard to make sure we have equal opportunities. "It's probably always going to be difficult. "I've got a great relationship with all the guys on the team because I've been there since I was 13. "But, at the end of the day, when Fernando came into the team, they were extremely excited and I feel that they've built a very good relationship with him. "So I don't see why he would say that but I guess, because he is Spanish and I am English, he might feel that way but I don't agree with it personally." The comments mark the second race in a row that friction has emerged between the pair, with Hamilton sparking an FIA investigation into whether the team broke the rules at Monaco when he implied he was told not to try and beat Alonso. The team were absolved of any guilt after insisting any orders were merely to ensure a McLaren one-two. On Sunday, it was Alonso who showed his frustration after being outshone by his inexperienced team-mate, who now leads the drivers' championship by eight points after a sensational start to his Formula One career. Hamilton added: "I doubt very much he was expecting me to do as well as I have but I don't know if that's why he would be saying what he's saying. "Coming into the team, he's the two-time world champion and I don't think he's really been challenged. "Well, he's had one or two challenges in the past but not from someone as close as me and as good a friend off the track. So it's a very difficult situation." Hamilton's arrival in Indianapolis was delayed when his flight from Washington DC last night was cancelled, forcing him to spend another evening in the American capital following a personal appearance there for sponsors Exxon Mobil. He arrived 24 minutes late for the official FIA media conference, having come straight from the airport. Having gone to New York straight after the race in Montreal, he admitted he still had not been able to gauge the reaction to his maiden victory. He said: "I've been in New York so I've not really heard too much. I heard that I had the front pages back in the UK, which is awesome. "But, other than that, I've not really been able to feel what has gone on around the world. "I think that's been quite good to be honest. I've been able to relax, although I have had about 200 text messages from friends. It's been impossible to reply to them all but I'm trying." http://www.planetf1.com This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Jun 15 2007, 02:37 PM |

QUOTE(adrian0229 @ Jun 17 2007, 02:21 AM) We'll see in a few days.Hamilton makes it two in a row 16 June 2007 QUOTE For the second consecutive race Lewis Hamilton edged out McLaren team mate Fernando Alonso to take pole position here at Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon. Alonso made the running in the first two sessions of qualifying, but Hamilton settled the issue with a lap of 1m 12.331s in the third, when Alonso's best was 1m 12.500s. The Englishman's car required an engine change last night due to an assembly problem but he will not receive a grid place penalty as Friday engines don't count. He described his two quickest laps in Q3 as 'perfect'. Having run the silver cars close all afternoon, the Ferraris line up on the second row with Felipe Massa third on 1m 12.703s and Kimi Raikkonen fourth with 1m 12.839s. As expected, BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld was their closest challenger, taking fifth place with 1m 12.847s. Heikki Kovalainen signalled something of a resurgence for Renault by taking sixth fastest time, lapping his R27 in 1m 13.308s to edge out BMW Sauber rookie Sebastian Vettel, who has impressed many people with his smooth performance and a best lap of 1m 13.513s. Jarno Trulli was the only Toyota driver to make Q3, placing his TF107 eighth with 1m 13.953s to head Mark Webber, who took his Red Bull round in 1m 13.871s, and Giancarlo Fisichella on 1m 13.953s in the second Renault. David Coulthard just failed to make the Q3 cut in Q2 after lapping his Red Bull in 1m 12.873s, then came Toyota's Ralf Schumacher (1m 12.920s), Honda's Jenson Button (1m 12.998s), Williams' Nico Rosberg (1m 13.060s), Honda's Rubens Barrichello (1m 13.201s) and Super Aguri's Anthony Davidson (1m 13.259s). As Coulthard survived a spin in Turn Eight, the two Red Bull drivers were separated by a 1000th of a second in Q1 (1m 13.424s to 1m 13.425s) as Q1 accounted for Alex Wurz (1m 13.441s) in the Williams, Super Aguri's Takuma Sato (1m 13.477s), the two Toro Rossos (Tonio Liuzzi 1m 13.484s and Scott Speed 1m 13.712s), and the two Spykers (Adrian Sutil 1m 14.122s and Christijan Albers 1m 14.597s). http://www.formula1.com This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Jun 17 2007, 07:16 AM |

QUOTE(karhoe @ Jun 17 2007, 11:40 AM) OMG, i just read the paper, Alonso seems to 'found' a way to break his contract with Mclaren, and seems like 3 teams are already knocking on his door, one of them is - Ferrari I don't think Kimi will move back to McLaren. So, what might happen? If Alonso manage to break his contract and move to Ferrari, then Raikonen move back to Mclaren? If he moves to Ferrari...outshone his team mate?
At the moment, with him and Lewis, McLaren can win WCC WDC still possible between them. I wonder who would replace him at McLaren if he leaves. This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Jun 17 2007, 06:32 PM |

Interesting
QUOTE Mclaren gives Hamilton all of Alonso telemetry, which is a reason why he always does a lot worse of practice in Fridays and improves by practice 2 and in saturday. Ivan Capelli, ex ferrari driver states- I do not want to take merit from current F1, but it can not be that a debutant is fighting with a world champion. The jump (to F1) is a lot easier now. It can not be that a pilot knows exactly what his rival does. A lot of spice has been lost by not being able to tell a pilot to take a corner much faster that you really can Alonso has said thursday that Mclaren gives all the data to Hamilton He (hamilton) has available all my data and that of Pedro, the team is doing a great job in that aspect, and that is helping him The result is Alonso being way in front in P1, Hamilton studying his data, and then by Qualy, he has all of Alonso data, breaking points, were he takes curves, and memorises them, with the result being that he is able to fight for Pole, as he has talent. Over long runs, Alonso does better, as it is impossible to become your adversary for 70 laps. http://www.as.com/articulo/motor/Alonso/do...asdaimot_2/Tes/ http://www.as.com Sorry, it's in Spanish QUOTE(karhoe @ Jun 17 2007, 08:07 PM) He better This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Jun 18 2007, 12:41 AM |

Hey...hey...Kimi has the fastest lap of the race.
Faster than Lewis QUOTE(ryansxs @ Jun 18 2007, 03:07 AM) It was very crucial 2nd pit stop for both the Mclaren. I've been siding McLaren 2nd driver since I heard Alonso joining McLaren. The team is pretty fair, but i guess starting to side to Hamilton as Alpanso accusing the team of bias. 'Tak Nak' to Alonso Smart move blocking Alonso I wonder at 1st..."...why didn't Alonso move to the right? Lewis must blocked it..." After saw the replay...yeah...Lewis did it Smart kid. Then Alonso shows his emotion the next time by driving close to the pit wall U.S. GP: Hamilton continues to excel Sunday 17th June 2007 Lewis Hamilton remains firmly on course to win the World Championship in his debut season after winning the United States Grand Prix. As in Canada, Hamilton lead from start to finish, but it was an entirely different race in Indianapolis as the rookie was pushed all the way by his McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso. Scarcely two seconds separated the two drivers all afternoon, but the youngster refused to buckle under the pressure. Once again, McLaren's pursuers were a distant second, with Ferrari reduced to the status of best of the rest. Felipe Massa was third, followed by Kimi Raikkonen in 4th and Heiki Kovalainen in 5th. Race Report: It was sizzling at Indianapolis, with the ambient temperature at 35C and a track temperature that had got as high as 60C before the parade lap, but was measured at 54C at the start. Fernando Alonso was starting from the inside and had the added hazard of a patch of cement dust just in front of his car, courtesy of oil from a support race engine. As the lights went out, it proved no disadvantage, Hamilton switched to the inside line and Alonso accelerated to the outside, clear of the chasing Massa starting from P3. Going into the corner both McLarens converged and Alonso almost looked like he was going to bump tyres with his rookie team-mate before holding his line. As Hamilton had the inside, he took the corner. Behind, it was another poor start from Kimi Raikkonen as he got swallowed up by both Nick Heidfeld and Heiki Kovalainen. However it was Ralf Schumacher who caused the most damage. Ralf is one of F1's less gifted starters. He jumped onto the brakes too late going into Turn 1 and slewed to his left, taking out David Coulthard's Red Bull and Rubens Barrichello's Honda as everyone to the left of him was forced onto the grass and run-off beyond Turn 1. It was a dismal mistake which Ralf wouldn't admit to: "It was a normal race incident. I got into the way of David, or he got into the way of me..." What would be most galling later in the race was that Takuma Sato would be penalised for overtaking a car under double-waved yellows, even though his race had ended in the gravel. Schumacher was clearly guilty of causing an avoidable accident but got away with it. As a result of his error there was a shuffling of the midfield and Adrian Sutil took the chance to take P14 on the opening lap. Barrichello, Schumacher and Coulthards' races were over. Sebastien Vettel went off the road and onto the grass cutting out Turn 2 and lost places, even though he was ahead of the Schumacher collision. At the front of the race Fernando Alonso was hustling Lewis Hamilton through the first few turns looking for a way past. Hamilton would not be hustled. As the cars came round at the end of the lap the order was: Hamilton, Alonso, Massa, Heidfeld, Kovalainen, Raikkonen, Trulli, Fisichella, Webber, Rosberg and Vettel in 11th place. On Lap 2 double-waved yellows protected Ralf Schumacher's damaged Toyota at Turn 1 and while Giancarlo Fisichella was driving his one-stopping Renault across the gravel at Turn 4, Takuma Sato nipped inside Jenson Button to take a place, something the stewards would take a dim view of. http://www.planetf1.com It's possible he's gonna repeat his success in GP2 on his debut as well as in Formula One. If bored, lets go watch MotoGP
Great fight between Stoner and Rossi two(2) weeks ago. This weekend gonna be interesting too. Go Lewis...Go Lewis...Go Lewis QUOTE(faris21 @ Jun 18 2007, 08:10 AM) His double world champion is debatable.2005 - FIA wish to demolish Ferrari's domination. 2006 - He's just luck, as is in 2005 when Kimi had a lot of reliability issues. Also, Ferrari blew it. My dream of 2007. Kimi winning the WDC (at the moment a bit doubtful) and Alonso falls a.k.a a new WDC this season. If he's dethrone...my mission to see him fall was accomplished Good enough for me This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Jun 18 2007, 01:20 PM |
