And that will make alonso so not brilliant for not attempting any defense maneuver
If thats how you wants to put it

There's not much any driver can do when the car behind has much more grip available. You can't brake as late and on tracks with a straight followed by a slow corner like this one it was inevitable at the end of the day.

Yes you can defend your position if you are just a little slower, how you gonna race when your car is alot slower?

People here got so biased against Alonso, i'm not a big fan of him but that's how i see things happening here wink.gif

It can still be defended. Alonso just kept his line and let Sato through, most driver would have at least made one maneuver to either keep the car behind out of his slip stream or take the ideal racing line to try block the opponent.

It's not the first time we see Alonso gave up at the closing stage. Remember when he was overtook by Nick in previous races.

Dont forget that Alonso was on the super soft tires when Sato make the cut. He is definitely much much slower after all the lawn mowing incidents (how many times did he lawn mow that area? Couldnt remember doh.gif )

Four(4) times at 1st corner alone.
Once at the chicane before the slip stream through the hair pin.
Super soft tyres do worn out quickly though.

zzzzzzzz .......... sato is on the harder tyre which is alot faster. please they have marked the soft tyres with white lines ..........

give up or not .... when the car behind is much faster. the car infront will still be overtaken at some point of the track, this is not a track where it's difficult to overtake or has no overtaking opportunity. it has plenty !
so, give up or risk it defending ? sato with his kamikaze spirit has nothing to lose. for alonso, to lose only 1 point to sato or get no points ? and it's a slipery track with alot of so called "marbles" off the line. the risk is high.

kinda disappointing for most of us eh ? alonso lawn mowing, kimi sleeping. 2 of the best from the the last few years .... driving like rookies on track .....

not only in USA...but maybe for the rest of the season. I don't think anyone can recover from a broken leg in just 3 weeks...

Do you think they will use Vettel for USA? I think they might use Glock as he has more race experience.
Anyways, I do believe Fernando knew he cannot do anything against Sato, and just give him. Rather then losing all teh points, he did the smart thing and settle for 2. Horrific crash for Kubica BTW. Lucky he did not slam into the Torro Rosso parked there, or he will launched into the other side of the track.
The track needs to be better IMO for next seasons. Heidfeld has strongly critisized the lack of grip and the way that the hairpin will always be damaged year after year.

Driver of teh day for me? Suprisingly it's not Lewis, but Wurz. He drove on the slow tyres for half of the race, and had part of his rear wing missing. And he was closing down on Heidfeld rapidly too after the last safety car.

The US GP will have jump in the number of spectators. Why? Crashes sell. The most watched GP in history was the Catalan GP after the crash and death of Aryton Senna
