Yes. Screen size and display is different. Max has a larger capacity battery. Just don't go for the XR. 720i display with single camera for Rm3k++.

My personal opinion is no, unless you go for the Xs Max. Instead of the Xs, an X is a cheaper option and not significantly inferior in any way to the Xs.

Apart from the bigger screen and minor improvement on battery life over the Xs, everything else is the same between the Xs and Xs Max.

God damn it why does Apple need to make it so hard this year. If the difference between the Xs and Xs Max was as significant as the plus vs non plus versions I would just top up for the Xs Max no questions asked.

Well, some people complained the X was a bit too small for them coz they are used to those phablet sized screens, hence the Xs Max, hehe. For me personally the X is just right size coz like you said, it's single-handed friendly but battery life isn't stellar for heavy usage..

Probably when it was a "Plus" version it really had "plus" improvements over the non plus version. For starters it had a larger and better screen (higher pixel density), a better camera, significantly better battery life etc.

The "Max" this time probably just meant it was a maximum sized iPhone and that's it. It's basically just a bigger Xs.

I bought PD USB-C fast wall charger and original Apple USB-C to lightning cable(RM83 for the cable), very fast charging, can get as fast as 3% in 2 minutes for <50% on my X.
