Offline merchant also need to scan your qr or barcode to redeem coins. If your phone is used to scan qr code, coins cannot be redeemed.
More and more cashiers at offline merchants, especially the hypermarkets, are refusing to scan the customer's ShopeePay QR and instead they make the customer scan their merchant QR code, thereby depriving the customer of Shopee coins redemption. A few of their other colleagues don't do this and still scan the customer's ShopeePay QR code and barcode but it won't be long before they follow the trend. I was told this is because the merchant pays Shopee their commission out of the tips/incentive pool meant for the employees.
It looks like these cashiers are allowed to get away with it, and Shopee doesn't want to do anything to help its customers, as customers have already brought this to Shopee's notice.
With the redemption lowered to only 25% and now with more and more cashiers refusing outright to scan the ShopeePay QR and barcode, I think many people will stop using Shopee and go to the other platforms. Does the Shopee establishment read this Shopee forum, you think?
