Hi guys. Which one more worth it? I'll be using it mainly for work and light gaming/movie if time permits.
Edit: light gaming means city skylines blush.gif

Y530

A-RM4440
8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8750H
15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS (up to 144 Hz, 300 nits)
4GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti
Memory = 8GB DDR4 2666 MHz (Up to 32GB)
128GB PCIe SSD (Up to 512GB)
1TB HDD Intel® Optane™-Ready (Up to 2TB)
foc nil (0)

vs

B-RM4200
Intel® Core™ i5-8300H(2.3GHz- 8M Cache, up to 4GHz)
8GB DDR4 (foc) + 8GB DDR4 2666MHz
256GB M.2 PCIe SSD (foc) + 1TBHDD
15.6 FHD IPS AG 250N 60
4GB GDDR5 NVIDIA®GeForce®GTX 1050TI
foc laptop sleeve + lenovo gaming back pack

I dont think i need the 144Hz, 300nits display but i7 > i5 right?
Can an i5, 16GB ram, 256gb ssd beat an i7, 8GB ram, 128gb ssd?
Which configuration can last me many yrs without need to upgrade?
Please advise.

% of work vs gaming If more into work , i would opt for business laptops like Thinkpad T480
*
I want at least 15" display and keyboard with numpad, min i5 and 8gb ram. And originally budget around rm3500±.
Was looking at Dell for after sales service but only their gaming range have what I want.
Since I end up at gaming laptop range, legion seems the least stand out in terms of design. (I hate the eye catching gaming laptop designs and also it is not presentable/appropriate)

Of the 2 options, which is more worth it?
Other than T480 any other suggestions?

I am assuming battery life isn't a concern for you at all. I just want to set the expectations right here - https://www.lenovo.com/my/en/laptops/ideapa...H/p/88GMY501020

Personally you would need to define your battery life (if it's important) and other work related features (such as a solid water-proof/dust resistant keyboard , longer availability of spare parts and replacement , etc)
Also Lenovo's website has a cheaper option for you to configure your Y530

Battery life is not important. I will be plugged in 100% of the time.
I have compared the same config from Lenovo site, price is higher even after 15% discount. Out of the 2, the i7 one seems like I save a lot.

Just wondering how does the i5, 16gb ram, 256ssd go up against the i7, 8gb ram, 128ssd?
