Seek for another experienced orthodontic ..if both said the same solution, then i believe you know what should do next.. smile.gif

I suggest go for 3 or 4 orthodontists. i went to 3 dentists before Dr. How and all of them said that I've to extract 4 teeth. Only Dr. How said that I don't have to extract any.

Unbelievable!!! You actually achieved such results in less than a year??!!!

My case is a minor problem, that's y i've been considering whether to do it or not for >10 years. Now old already (28 yrs old) only decided to do it.

Your case is much more worthy, almost same price for such transformation. Really amazing! Feel excited for you! Gambate!

Took my long-awaited trip to Dr. How's place today. Of all the ceramic treatments you guys've known of, which would you choose based on merits over the others? Meaning not just because it's the one you're using. Damon 3, In-Ovation C, Inspire and some other ones there, most of them advertise in similar ways. Seeing as aesthetics and durability would be the two primary concerns involved, which would you guys pick over the other based on these qualities? Which among Damon 3 and In-Ovation C is the most "invisible" in terms of its aesthetic appeal?

Any comments on the matter would be most appreciated. smile.gif
*
For aesthetic appeal, i was told that ceramic type for In-Ovation C is better Damon, even though I'm using metal type of Damon 3MX.

I chose Damon 3MX because Dr. How told me that it might lead to faster results as compared to ceramic ones. Not sure how significant is it.

Hmm he said braces will prevent my joints from being painful in future and it will slightly correct the jaw.
In years to come, it will look better. He didn't exactly suggested a jaw surgery, but last time I thought of getting one.
I'm a bit afraid of it. Anyone has experience ? smile.gif
*
in years to come? did he say how long is the duration of the treatment?

Ken, thanks!

Nikki, only for upper la, not sure how long my lower teeth will take to catch up... my lower more serious than upper.

I guess it's because my case doesn't require extraction, that's why don't have to spend time waiting for gap to close.

My little cousin sis did her bracing treatment for her upper jaw only. No extraction and only 6 months of duration. She has straight teeth now but i feel that it would be nicer if she did extraction. Why i said that is bcos her jaw is protruding... u know like what they say Horse teeth?

Something like tat la... I recently took a pic with her. I feel that her teeth are really obvious lo. and she shows a lot of gum when she smile... i'm glad tat my result is far better than hers.

For me, i always check my smile cos i smile differently now. and its very important to hav the perfect smile otherwise why pay so much for the treatment right?

Here's a recent photo of mine with normal smile, horse or not? I guess I need to practise in front of the mirror to get a perfect smile as well, so that the money I paid is worth it biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing the experience here in this forum. I personally find the resource are useful and decided to put on guts and go for the orthodontic treatment. I am already 33 years old. I think I am the oldest in this thread that went for the treatment if not.

Well, my case was not a straightforward one. I have done orthodontics treatment when I was 15yrs old in my hometown Seremban's polyclinic.
You know that time , 20 over years ago, orthodontics is still not common. And the queue is like few years long.

They asked my dad if I am willing to accept for a simple treatment - express, that will allow me to 'cut queue' and and start quiet immediately. What I had was a protruding jaw. So the remedy was to wear a removable braces on top to push my front teeth forward to slightly over lapse the lower jaw with the expense of extracting one pair of upper tooth.

Now, my doc said to compensate that need to extract lower pair sad.gif it's gonna be pain..cus my nerve and tooth are already strong...

I just have my braces put on last week and doc says let my teeth loosen prior extract.

I wondered what are the hassle you guys faced wearing braces.

To me, with the braces (up and down) on, there's a gap between the two. My teeth can't touches. When I speak, there's air flowning. It affects me as I am a working adult and needs to communicate with users. Then also whenever I finish meals, need to rush to toilet to clean off so that my food particles won't appeared stuck in between braces.

Can time flies for this at least....
*
Welcome to the club, again! biggrin.gif

First of all, may I know which type/brand of braces are you using?

As for the experience, the pronunciation problem and food stuck in between teeth and braces, are normal. The speaking problem will slowly improve, together with, the progress of your teeth. As for the immediate cleaning of teeth after eating, is unavoidable. You'll slowly get used to it.

Time does fly... You'll find that all these are worth the cost and hassle. Enjoy! tongue.gif

Hi Karynkhoo,
I've send a message in ur inbox not sure whether u get it or not. Just want to get some detail about doing braces with Dr. How.
I'll put on my braces this end of march. But Dr. How mention to me that I can either extract my 4 teeth or no need. He say if extract the 4 teeth will make my face look nicer.
I quite curious, can we put on braces first and after few week only do the extraction? In my situation, I definitely want to do the extraction. Is't do the extraction first then only put or the braces or the other way around can still work just fine??
Hope u guy can share some good experience here.
Thanks & cheers~~~
(Doing Damon system)

Just saw your message, my case doesn't require extraction. What I know is, normally extraction first, then only put on braces. Anyway, I also heard cases where put on braces first, see out it goes, then only decide whether to extract or not.

I am using Daemon 3. There is a new system called Lotus recommended by doctor. But I dare not adventure yet. Not so bold sticking to the proven one as many of you are using.

I have a feeling those with minor issues that would not require extraction will have the treatment completed within a short time frame wheareas like my case that requires extraction and also a little complicated will takes more time.

Is it true that retainer have to wear for whole life? You guys wearing the removable one?
*
I also heard about the Lotus system, from a friend who sent to consult Dr. How recently. Dr. How said Lotus system is less painful.

My case should require few months to half a year time more.

I heard retainer should wear whole life else, your teeth will tend to move to original position. How much they move, depends on individual. I've seen friends who do not wear retainer after removing braces, their teeth move slightly, not as straight as right after treatment. I think I'll choose to wear it. After all, I don't mind wearing the retainer when I'm sleeping.

Thanks d_chew for ur info, it really make me feel easy for the day.
For the extraction part, I feel not so secure if did not do the extraction. Scare after removing the braces the teeth won't hold for long and maybe return to the old shape.
Then I'll just let Dr.How figure it out for me.
Thanks again.
*
Extraction won't affect how long the teeth will remain their position. After removing braces, we need to wear retainer, possibly whole lifetime to make sure the teeth don't return to their original position.
