Expensive... any price range?
Traditional metal - 3.5k-6k (metal to ceramic)
Self-lig- about 6-10k (metal to clear)

Nowadays, treatments are pretty affordable with deposit of <2k, monthly installments at 100-300/month....

How I wish if it was as easy as you said. My case is pretty severe. First ortho I went to consult was Dr Hou in Kepong, she said my case have to go for surgery which cost about 40-50k shocking.gif (surgery is to adjust my jaw, because I have an underbite)

Then I consulted Dr Lim in Selayang (LKM Dental), he said he could do braces for me, fix my underbite, but my outstanding jaw will still be there unless I go for surgery to fix it. He quoted me as below

6500 - Brackets
180 - Xray
700 - Screws (I need to put two screws on the side on my lower jaw.. anyone had this too?)
1200 - Extraction of my lower jaw wisdom teeth
300 - Extraction of my upper jaw wisdom teeth
300 - filling and other stuffs before I do the braces

Total = 9180

And this is not including other miscellaneous stuffs.

So damn expensive cry.gif

I did mine at White Smile Berjaya Times Square. I'm not wearing braces but invisalign, so quite expensive. But White Smile braces i think it's not so expensive for specialist. My daughter is on Damon type metal, by installment only RM 270 when he fit d braces, RM 270 each month after and he didn't charge me huge deposit. I think it's unbelievable how come some dentist collect RM 3K at the first appointment...

Hi Ouchie,

I've been to both orthos so if you'd like more info than what I'm giving right now, feel free to PM me.

First went to Dr How in 2010 and he seemed jovial in the beginning but he didn't fully explain his treatment plan with me. I may be in the minority who wasn't pleased with his treatment since other people on this board were happy with their results, so please bear in mind that this is just my experience and not something that should deter you from making your own decision. Dr How also pushed extractions on me even when I wasn't really sure about it and his bedside manner was quite rude. Rushing through the treatment due to the high number of patients he sees, rough when changing brackets, not explaining things in detail and handing me off to his assistants when he expanded his clinic to join up with the Beverly Wilshire group. I hated the way my teeth were pushed back into my face, causing an 'older, thinner' face. Oh yeah, I complained to the new office manager and she said she'll bring this up with the doctor and never got a call back from that office. Wasted RM6000 there. I didn't think they really cared about me as a patient there.

I hated my results and transferred to Dr Reuben who I can say is so much nicer and willing to talk to you about the treatment and most importantly, he asks about your opinions and what you'd like the outcome to be. I'm seeing an improvement in my profile and my teeth looks far better than it ever did before. The office staff are nice and pleasant. Oh and my teeth doesn't hurt when Dr Reuben adjusts them. Price wise, I think they're both more or less the same, Dr Reuben may be cheaper by a few hundreds.

PM me if you want more info, yeah?

Hi Mataharih, I felt the same especially after the clinic has expanded and Dr seldom did the review anymore and handed me over to his assistant. But he checked my progress first and told his assistant what should be done before review started. May I know how you switch your treatment to Dr Rueban? Did you pay all over again as you have already finished the rm6k instalment? Looking forward for your reply, thanks!

I have just transferred my treatment last Saturday and quite shocked to know that my teeth doesn't look good even after wearing braces for more than two years. Dr told me it seemed to be done by non-specialist and this was rarely happened. I might have to go through re-adjustment for more than a year to have better result.

I feel angry and disappointed as I expect to de-bond within this year although I can see my teeth are really not well aligned. I feel the past two years were wasted, money does matter but most important is time, as two years are long enough for a non-severe case.

So far I am quite happy to the first treatment with this new Dr as he looks friendly, patient and I don't feel painful at all when he was adjusting my brackets. He told me that he has lots of transferred patients recently and wondering what happened.

I've juz finished my braces treatment with Dr. How at Imperial dental specialist centre (beside bangsar village) and his team recently. But he never force me to cabut my teeth and in fact he explained nicely to me about the whole process before started treating me. He treated me with well manner and care, and i never feel pain during the treatment (although quite nervous when giving me the injection, luckily he was fast enough and distracted me during the injection).

At the beginning of the treatment, i have to wait at least 6-8 weeks only reach my appointment time to have my braces review, but after the expansion of his clinic, with more dentist available, my braces review cut short into 2-4 weeks. Those dentist treated me with well manner too, although they are not specialist, they review my braces too and get double check by Dr.how. Thanks to them, now my teeth are quite well align and it really worth for the paying. I heard now they have the clear braces with are easier to wear and look nicer.

My second treatment with Dr Rueban was on last Saturday since transfer. The pink sofa was occupied by few patients and I just waited outside for my turn. Recently, Dr is seeking for opinion to setup a new branch due to limited space, which seems to be a briliant idea to accomodate more patients. Feel free to leave feedback @ http://www.whitesmile.com.my/board/bbs/boa...g4_news&wr_id=7

While waiting for my turn, I observed around and almost all furnitures and deco are in pink and white, which are my favourite colors.

Dr helped me to change wire and told me I should be able to see some improvements by CNY. He told me Daemon 3 was no longer manufactured, so just be careful and tried not to break it. This reminded me that I have really been wearing braces for long (more than 2 years), since Daemon 3 was new at that time. I am really looking foward for debond by end of next year.
