Guys,
I want to wear braces.
Paid rm500 for initial fee.
The doctor told me i dont have  to remove any tooth.
I wanted to wear Damon 3.
But the doctor seems like encourage me to use Innovation C.
He told me the result is the same, however Innovation C is cheaper rm1K.

Any idea whats the differences between Innovation C and Damon3?
*
Cheaper? i'm using InOvationC. Mine is more expensive than Damon 3.
Doctor says its same result also. I've been wearing for 9 months plus already. I see movement after 2 months. Then major movements.
After about 4-5 months, my teeth are straight already. Just that i hav to close gaps cos i removed 4 teeth.
Since if u no need to remove, then should be very fast.

The different? same technology just different branding. Inovation C... C= ceramic. So If ceramic, the look will be different, as in not so obvious lo...

Oh I see, if the result suppose to be the same, may i know what was the reason u chose Innovation C since its more expensive than Damon 3.
*
From the clinic i went to, InOvation is more expensive than Damon for RM200. But however, if same price, i will go for InOvation C also. Cos of the ceramic = transparency. As i'm working already. So i feel not nice to show too much metals.

Haha,,, So thats why i rather pay extra RM200 for ceramics.

My doc didn't tell me about Inovation C. Can i change my damon to it on my next treatment?
*
i dont think u can simply change... When u few thousands, the payment is to buy the brackets sets. Once u decide on the type of system, u cant change already. IF u want, probably u have to pay for a few more thousand to buy the new brackets set.

Karyn, which doctor did you go to? I'm planning to get my wisdom teeth extracted also, all 4 of them if possible, even though doctor said it's optional. Just felt that it will provide more jaw space for my teeth. Rm 500 is a lot of money..

Added on July 23, 2009, 9:59 pm

Nikki, you mentioned that you could see results after 2 months? I can see a bit of results on my left side, but right side not so much. For our innovation c, is it normal that we could feel the tightness once a while, cus i haven't had any pain or sensation for a few weeks already, but suddenly this week, i could feel that my right side is getting tighter and upon touching the teeth, i could feel intense pain. Is it normal?
*
Hi..i know wat u mean and ur worries... I would say dont worry. It happens to me that way too. I dont see result in my first month, i was so inpatient...but at the end of my second month, i can see the difference edy. Dont even need to compare pix also i realise the changes.

And about the 'once a while pain'. Yah, thats right. I have the same experience also... Its normal. Dont be too worried whether it will pain or not pain. Pain happens for a reason. Just remember that... Pain means movements. U will feel better that way. And its true, the pain only happen for 3 days. After that wont be any pain. And that pain duration actually allows ur teeth to move.

U will be amazed how the pain can switch place cos bit by bit the teeth are moving. R u Dr. How's patient? IF yes, i would advise u that to trust wat Dr. How told u. IF he told u 'thats fine', it will be fine. I'm not sure abt other doctor. But as Dr. How's patient and my experience with him so far. I really trust him. Initially i hav lots of worries also. Always with lots of questions to ask Dr. How

Like when my gum bleeds, i ask him how, or then i feel uncomfortable with, power chain, my extractions, growing wires, bite stopper were crushed cos i too ganas... and more. He will always advice me what i should and should not worry.

My progress so far has been great. Even the lubang where i extracted my teeth also closing quite soon. Somemore i worried so much that the lubang will be there for long. Now not anymore...only the lower jaw lubang on the left is a bit slow... mayb my gum stubborn...

I'm going to Dr. How at Bangsar. He said normal price for extracted wisdom at lower jaw is RM650. RM500 is discounted price already... I only have 1 wisdom at, which is at lower jaw. I'm thinking whether it's possible to get my wisdom tooth extracted at some other place with better offer.

Btw, for those who have experience with bite stopper. May I know normally how long it needs to stay there? After having it on for 1 day, I can't stand it anymore. It affects my pronunciation. I can't stand my own pronunciation now. Help!!!
*
bite stopper problem ya? I had pronunciation problem even before having bite stopper.. tongue.gif first month i cant pronounce 'braces' and i always whistle due to the braces in mouth. the bite stopper thing, depends on situation. Guess what? i still have half of the stopper with me until now.

why half? hmmm.... usually we should have 2 right? Left and Right. But my right stopper were crushed after one week. Then the left stopper remain until now. But bit by bit its disappearing also. Cos i grind my teeth in my sleep. tongue.gif

Event tho one side gone and imbalance bite, but Dr. how says... "It's ok"

hahahah

*
I can survive with it cos like i said, i only hav half of the stopper right now. Its almost gone already actually. The other side totally gone. Of course i can eat, bite and chew. My both left and right also can touch even with bite stopper there now... i also dunno why. Mayb cos nothing much left there....

Ok now im confused.
Damon 3 not using ceramic? Only Metal?

Damon also got ceramic system. But my doctor say thru his experience, he thinks damon ceramic is not as good compared to Innovation C.
But for metal, both are same.

bite stopper sounds irritating. arrgghh.. hopefully i dont have to have that..  My first appointment after installing braces will be in the middle of august as i only need to see my ortho once every two months but i can feel the wire is getting longer and it is very disturbing when i eat..  sad.gif  i use wax all the time on this end of wire .. the other end is ok.. do u all use wax all the time?
*
(Innovation is another brand. Different than Damon. Dont confuse urself.

Wax to avoid poking? ya... i rely on the wax very much also.

hahaha...u better dont try. Hehehe... if doctor put the stopper there, i'm sure its for ur own good lo. Maybe just check how long it has to be there lo... then just bear with is a little? No choice la right, for beauty ma.

Just be glad u dont have to install screws and fix ur gum like i did only.

ya...i have the screws same like Ken. My teeth are actually bad. But main reason for me to hav those screws is bcos i have gummy smile. shows lots of gum. So doctor installed these screws to minimize the gum from showing. Which now has improved a lot. smile.gif

Hi guys,
Thanks for the explaination.
Im going for In-Ovation C, the dentist quoted me rm5500 for In-Ovation C (full course plus retainer)
1st appointment i paid rm500, 2nd appointment(bonding) have to rm1500.
Monthly for 18 months rm195.
Is it expansive?
And and after we have completed the treatment and take out the braces, will it change our face also a bit?
Do u guys notice any differences on ur face after the treatment? Example ur face become slimmer or thinner or
maybe ur mouth become smaller or something?
*
My face shape totally changed. Become smaller. I showed my picture b4 braces to my new colleagues, they see the big different also. I look different now, some ex colleague took some time to recognize me... Like as if i did plastic surgery.

Other than that, i think my lips become thinner compared to last time.

And about ur cost for InOvation-C is definitely not expensive. Mine was 6k. That was last year and the cost doesnt include x-ray, moulding and all....

Yes, i'm Dr how's patient. He just installed separator during my appointment a few days ago. He said that i have 2 resistant teeth on my right side, so he has to place the separator to create space for them to align. Do you have any separator between your teeth?

I read up from some sites that separators are really painful after installation, but i don't feel any pain at all. Just a bit of tightness during the installation. I wonder if my nerves are dead? lol Or my teeth are too resistant to them? Oh well, as you said, your teeth align after 3 months. As for mine, i can see results, but not for the 2 resistant teeth on upper jaw right front. I'm getting very impatient.. lol
*
Yes, i still have those separator in between my teeth until now. it didnt bother me too much so i didnt complaint to doctor also lo. It wasn't that painful to me also. Dont worry, If u feel pain its normal. Didnt feel pain also is normal cos each individual pain tolerant level are different. Some ppl can feel extreme pain. So just be glad it wasnt too painful for u. smile.gif

Even if pain also dont too worry la, just remind urself that pain means movements. Patient a bit k? First few month are the greatest cos u can see movements. After that nothing much liao. Like me, i stop taking pictures also cos not much to see. Just closing gaps only.

Just done my 2nd visit to dentist. My wire is now upgraded to 0.14mm diameter. I definitely can feel a greater pressure now. I was also very concern about the first visible changes. My doc told me we will see significant results once we put on the 0.16mm wire and the process will speed up then. Ya, average speaking, we should see some significant changes appx 3 months too.

I am wearing damon 3. My whole treatment cost is RM5k. If you have question, you can call her at below:

Dr. Ling & partners Dental Surgeons
E-1-43, Block E, Jalan PJU 1, Aman Suria Damansara, 47301 Petaling Jaya.
Tel: 03-7803 5916

She is a very nice dentist, patience and very gentle. I think her cost is very cheap too. I referred my sis to extract her wisdom tooth last Sat, the cost was only RM60! Anyway, I am not sure if the extraction depends on cases cos I read many of you extracted your wisdom tooth over RM500! No harm to give a call to ask. Just to share.

Now I am waiting to see my first tooth pop into the right position! haha.
*
U're right... wisdom tooth extraction are depending on different cases.
RM60 is normal grown wisdom tooth. MEaning, its grown nicely in position. Then u can extract that with cheaper price.

Those that u heard few hundreds ones are involving surgery. Usually lower jaws. The tooth cant grow normally in position, not enuff space or worst case, rot in ur gum. That, u hav to do surgery. Usually RM600 per tooth.

Been a week im using In-Ovation C braces. So far only like 1 or 2 times I feel a bit pain/pressure on my teeth. Other than that not bad, quite comfortable.
So far never had any issue like, bleeding, ulser, and ect. Thank god.
I also eat like normal,  but everytime after eat, I will brush my teeth.
Anyways, just a question, is it possible for the braces to fall off? What is the reason?
Can I drink coffee or tea? Will that do any effect on my braces?
*
I guess Coffee and tea are alright. Just beware of discoloring ur braces lo. However, My experience so far with coffee and tea are alright. Even with curry also wont discolor the brackets. Cos its made of ceramic. It wont discolor. But however, u can try to avoid curry or tea or coffee and other strong coloring food if u have any rubber band and powerchain on. Cos those rubbers can get discolored very easily.

And ur question abt whether will ur braces fall off easily? The braces wont fall off. Maybe, the brackets will. And that also depends on individual. It can be caused by forcing when u eat hard and chewy food. When u force ur teeth too much, the brackets may fall. Another factor would be when the glue is not doing its job. When the glue are lose, ur brackets may fall... So, dont brush ur teeth too hard, u may brush out ur brackets also... tongue.gif

I have some questions here and would appreciate it if anyone can help. xD

I'm sure this has been asked before but which produces faster result - Damon 3 system or Innovation C?

And for Innovation C, do you need to have some teeth extracted? I understand that if using the Damon 3 system, you most likely don't have to?
*
I think only doctor can tell u which is better. Eventho i'm a InOvation wearer, i cant judge which is better. Cos i havent use damon before. And those damon user havent use InOvation before.

Both InOvation and Damon are same just different brand. About extraction, that also let ur doctor to decide. They dont simply extract ur teeth for no reason. If ur jaw are really small, u hav no choice but to extract. Its like, how can u fit 50 pax in one car? Definately u need to shift out some. Get it?

The advertisement will obviously tells u NO NEED to extract. Just like Skin care products that promises u fine skin. And in fact, how many of these products really work what they claimed?

Conclusion is get professional help for professional products.

PS: I'm an InOvation C user. I've been on braces since 4th October. I sacrificed 4 healthy teeth for this treatment. It's been 10 months now and i love the result. It hardly give ulcer like other ppl did. InOvation C are ceramic and almost transparent. thumbup.gif

I agree with Nikki that whether to extract teeth or not, it depends on your condition. It's not dependent on the brand of the braces. I'm using Damon 3MX without any tooth extraction, because my crowded problem is not very serious. Please seek professional consultation of this.

Btw, Nikki, I finally managed to crush part of my bite stopper. I din do it in purpose la. It was an accident, yet I feel so happy and satisfied. Hope I can crush the rest of the bite stopper biggrin.gif

It's my 8th week with braces now and I have yet to notice any obvious movement for my teeth. Getting impatient...
*
shakehead.gif shocking.gif shakehead.gif OMG karyn... my eyes opened so wide when i read u crushed ur bite stopper... hahaha... Okla, if u didnt do it on purpose. brows.gif Dont crush everything oh... or else doctor will put new stopper on ur teeth. hehehe...

8th week means 2 months? Hmm... maybe ur crowding case not as serious as mine that why havent seen any obvious result? As for my case, i saw movement on my 8th week. Those movements are mainly my in-out and bengkang bengkok teeth... my teeth were overly messy. And by the 8th week, i see those in-out ones slowly moved in to join the rest edy. rclxm9.gif

Give it a bit more time la. Or else, just tell doctor when u see him next. Always talk to him like ur friend la... can also ask him, "Dr, how come my teeth so stubborn?" See what he say?

That day i asked doctor about my extracted lubang. Cos one of the lubang closing very slow. So Dr explains to me...but i dont quite understand also sweat.gif . But its okla, at least i highlighted the situation to him...Next visit if still not closing, i wil ask him to do something. hehehhee
