err.. about the de-bracing, actually I'm in fine tuning phase already... I think maybe by next month or May should take out dy, I think.

From the nurses, the retainer that they provided 1 is those transparent type 1... for other type you have to pay extra. If I am not wrong, those steel type 1 cost RM400 for bottom and top separately, which means = RM800 for top & bottom. ohmy.gif

Anybody else have more information about this?

I couldn't imagine myself without the braces anymore..! I think I will feel like my teeth is "naked" dy!!! sweat.gif

I never did ask about retainers. Cos i always forgot to ask. Everytime after appt, i cant talk properly, so ended up not ask.
I'm not sure if retainers comes with my package and how it suppose to be transparents or what.... sigh...

Any Dr. How's patients can help me on this? Thanks.

Yalor...And you know Dr. is always busy. Not much time can be spent with each patient. I really really wish the retainer comes with my package. Finger crossed. If not, i'll be damn broke. Cos paid so much already. Sigh...

Don't get me wrong. It does come with retainers, it just that if you opt for other type than the 1 they provided, then you have to pay more. Or else, it's included (this is what I understand from what the nurse says)

Oh yea, the transparent one is the one called as Essix retainer (from the link given by kentcp) and the RM400 one is Hawley's Retainer (refer to the link given). Hope I clear things up.  wink.gif
*
Come with the retainers? Cool! and The transparent retainers is damn cool too. I bet it wont be obvious at all... brows.gif Cos i heard the Hawley's are not comfortable.

ok guys! I'm finally de-braced!  rclxm9.gif

now, just to inform you guys, during the de-bonding process, you have to go for x-rays and moulding is needed plus pictures will be taken too, so on that night I have to pay RM300 for those.  unsure.gif

during the debonding process, there was slight pain, especially when Dr. is removing the brackets from my wisdom teeth (the last one at the back) but anyhow, after the debonding process, it feels weird. (like losing your teeth  biggrin.gif )

today, I went and pick up my retainer, yeap, its the transparent 1, and I've been informed that I need to come back for check up 6 months later.

I also had bought a case to put my retainer and Polident, to clean the retainer.

the retainer feels tight, and to take it out is quite hard. I suppose maybe it'll loosen up after some time?

laugh.gif

super happy now!!  tongue.gif

Congratulations, green_apple.
Hehehe...i still have around one year to go. Wow, hav to pay a few more hundred when de-brace...i think for my case, all could add up to 8k. Phew....

So now green_apple must be very pretty already? Aww...so envy...

Its ok my dear. Everyone sacrifices for their beauty. I just came back from a Bangkok trip. I was supprised that so many Thais wear braces. One even stared at mine cos mine is transparent while i stared at his cos his was blue. Hahaha...

U will feel much better when u start seeing improvement of your teeth. Trust me. smile.gif

There are a traditional type, self-ligating system type (Damon 3 or In-Ovation), lingual braces, insalign just to name a few.
But i guess most ppl here either uses traditional and self-ligating types.

Many of us chose self-ligating over traditional is bcos we want to achieve best results with a shorter time. Shorter time doesnt mean more suffering. Bcos advance systems not just give you fast and good results, but it also gives less pain and irritation. But of course, hav to pay a bit more $$$ also la. brows.gif

I know what you mean about taking turn. Hehehe...Cos ur braces is working on them. IF u realize, whenever u feel pain on that particular teeth, 2-3days later u will see a slight movement edy. So the pain on one or two teeth is good. It means they're are moving...

No worries la my dear, u'll only feel tighter when Doctor is changing or after changing the wire.
As when he is changing, he will press the brackets and the wire together. So a bit tight there lo. The discomfort is a while only.

Then as when u walk out of clinic, slowly u will feel tight at your teeth lo. But its really not that bad. If you have already extract your teeth, this is nothing to be afraid of. But if u havent, dont be too scared of extractions. No pain at all cos there will be pain killer and injections. Really no feeling.

Be thankful that you dont have to install screws and hang your gum. So far, this is the worst stage i've ever encounter. I consider myself can tahan pain. But i was tearing when doctor stall the powerchains on my screws.

I just came back from the clinic this morning. Half way changing the powerchain to the screws, doctor walked out for a call. I was like phew... Finally a break. Cos i cant take it one shot...seriously. cry.gif

Was suppose to hang 6 teeth up, But the two gigi taring are causing problems. So now only hanging 4 teeth. Doctor says he has to stop pulling the two gigi taring for the time being. Or else, the wounded gum will just keep on bleeding.

Changed my lower jaw's wire to thicker ones. Feeling the tightness now. And Doctor gave me a packet of rubberbands. I have to change the rubberbands myself everyday to close those gaps caused by extractions. I think, soon my smile will be berlubang-lubang.... shocking.gif

Today is my first day trying to tie the rubberband on myself. Gosh, its not that easy without the correct angle and tools. I tilt my head and fingers just to try to look for a right spot for it and gosh, i look myself in the mirror and i look horrible and funny...

hahaha....anyone got tips on that?

lol...that time also i also had a hard time tying the rubberband to the teeth...i even ask kentcp...lol...starting is 5-10 mins...then slowly become 5 mins...then now fuh...2 sec enuf dy...lolz...first time trying make me damn mang chang i tell u...so mang chang...after that pro dy...u just need the right technique to tie it...but i dont know how to explain it here...;p...open your mouth...pull and put the rubber band "piak" hits the bracket...its tied...lolz...
*
Yah, i get very mang chang also. Everytime after brushing teeth, hav to tie them back and now i spend even longer time in the bathroom. This morning, i try to 'piak'. When i piak, the rubberband dunno fly where already. Cant find at all. I realize that upper jaw is easier to tie. But for the lower jaw... my gosh, i feel like i want to rip off my jaw. hahhaha....so ganas.. This few days my teeth a bit sensitive. blush.gif

oh btw, the powerchains that hangs to the screws part, on side of my screws is causing some pain. Then i found out why is bcos the edge of the powerchain is not nicely trimmed. So the rough edges irritates my gum and my upper lip. Any possible way to trim it myself?

Had a 'premature' braces appointment today..
was supposed to be on the 28th,but since im rushin home to sabah soon..i figured id do it,rather than taking chances on missing it.

Was rebonding a bracket that got loose and repositioned one (which kinda hurt)
So i got a bad news from doc...
Whether i want to or not...i HAVE to extract 4 teeth...
for optimum results..he sez that my teeth are not protruding anymore, but in order to achive full 'perfect' results...i have to
Hes not forcing me to tho,he wants me to decide and gave me time.

What do u guys think??
im totally against the idea of 'pulling Healthy teeth' out.And am totally scared of looking like i have 'less teeth' when i smile.
He sez that if i dont extract, the change on my facial esthetics wont be too noticeable, but with extraction followed by the rest of the required treatment, itll change me to that 'flat side profile'..

But then again,i got braces, why not go for a 'perfect' smile instead of staying safe?

Aaaarghh im confused...
And officially,im on braces for 7months on this coming 28th biggrin.gif..time flies soooo fast.

Sigh..
*
Yeah...dun worry, Ronnie. I've also extracted my tooth already. 4 healthy tooth being removed. Other than that i did the screw thing and had my laser thing done too. It may cost a lot of pain and money. But since already paying so much for braces, might as well pay a bit more and suffer a bit more for the best smile i could have... Honest speaking, i can see that my side profile is improving.

I have been having braces for 6mths and 2 weeks. Doctor took pictures of me again that day.

I tried to trim that before.. just that we don't have a right shape tool to trim it. Also, we see from the mirror is in opposite way, kind of hard to doing it. Somemore afriad accidentally hurt our gum. End up, ask doc help me to trim it. sometime, i even let it be, after a week plus, your lips start get used with the sharp part..
The last time i trimmed it myself too. I used nail clipper. But that part i trimmed was near the bracket. This time, its at the screw and gum. I scared it will hurt my gum. Now, i had my dental wax stuck on the screw to prevent further irritations.

Dont worry too much alright? Most of us did it. We're not lying. No pain at all during the process. When Doctor pulling my teeth, we were chit chatting, next thing i know, my teeth were out.

We girls can deal with it, so can u...

It's call lingual braces. Google it to read in english if you want to. However, lingual is more expensive. About 15k i think?
And because that the braces are installed inside, it tends to scratches your tongue more.

Kent, Retainer u meant?
Hahaha.... Yah, after de-braced, we will still need to wear retainers to maintain the shape or else, it will run back to the old shape.

However, if leng leng is asking about if without braces, will protruding teeth get worst? I think yes it will. Cos you know how our wisdom tooth will grow and will start pushing away the rest of our teeth. Somehow or other, it will affect the rest of our teeth also. B4 i got braces, i realised that my teeth are getting worst bcos of my wisdom tooth.
