The Nun is a 2018 American gothic supernatural horror film directed by Corin Hardy and written by Gary Dauberman, from a story by Dauberman and James Wan. It is a spin-off of 2016's The Conjuring 2 and the fifth installment in The Conjuring Universe. The film stars Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga and Jonas Bloquet. The Nun (2018)

I broke a cardinal rule today...

I went into the cinema late, and missed a few minutes of the movie...

Sigh...

Let get this show in the road...

They got the mood right.

Hammer Horror would have KILLED for the production budget of this movie.

It is a "gorgeous" looking horror movie.

Good job on the cast too.

Each, playing his/her/it's role well.

Story is a little... jumbled...

The "surprises" are no surprise at all...

The views are a few step ahead of the movie so...

Having said that,, I did not see the way the ended the movie coming, so kudos for that?

In short, a creepy movie, not necessary a horror movie...

Ya know what I mean?

If you watched the second conjuring, the "Nun demon"

This is kinda sorta the origins of the said demon

Only James Wan knows to "craft" suspense-horror film is proved once again.

Nun/Valak frm Conjuring 2 was so awesome....

Reviewers are tearing this film apart...more like weakest installation...its ok if it was any other film

The title Nun...dat too a super demonic entity who was such a popular figure from a vastly successful franchise definetly set the expectation high among viewers..

Feels like a quick cash grab riding on the successes of the stellar "The Conjuring" and "The Conjuring 2".

These are among James Wan's best films to date. I prefer some characters' back story obscured... you play it out in your mind as to how that character/person came to be.

If you want a good creepy horror film, I recommend "Hereditary". This one is truly disturbing with some insanely good acting performances.

Yeah..but I'd classify both Hereditary & Mother! under creppy films category

Those 2 films really stayed in mind & kept thinkin dafuq happened here...why it happened...the metaphorical references etc...very rarely films make us feel that way & those 2 films did

Conjuring 2 was closest to such memorable films while rest like Anabelle & now this Nun are meh

Will watch it...for Conjuring sake.

Sadly no Vera

Has a MUCH younger Taissa though...

Still yet to see her.

But Vera is...well...legendary.

Vera's eyes alone for good measure~

It was meh...barely any story in it. Feel like watching an episode of Supernatural, shotgun and all

At first, hesitate whether want to see this movie or not, luckily still can watch. The nun in The Conjuring 2 more scarier than this one , LOL.

This is kind of like 'Anakin's journey in becoming Darth Vader'




But if the storyline is good...then the movie will do well.

The reviews has been brutal for this movie.

I still think it is watchable, because of the high production value and the exccellent cast.

The Nun II

Hello kiddies.

The seventh month (Chinese calendar has passed) and that has not stop the creepy ghouls from crawling out of the wood works and of course your local cinema for that matter.

After the release of The Nun 2018, there were criticism that it... lack scares.

I kinda like it.

I like how that movie "brought" the conjuring movies universe out of America

The setting was very spooky and have to add the story could have been scarier.

Fast forward to 2023, after a scary pandemic, can The Nun 2 conjure out more scares.

The short answer is YES!

Again the European setting after WWII is really "cinematic" the first kill is really BRUTAL!

The recall of Sister Irene is.... I lack tact... is really implausible. The only reason I can think if is her recall to the "case" is to have a fall "person" if the situation when south (eg Father Burke did not make it)...

Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) and Frenchie (Jonas Bloquet) and the main lead. With additional characters Debra (Storm Reid, whom I last saw in Invisible Man), Kate (Anna Popplewell, syes I am as surprise as you) and Sophie (Katelyn Rose Downey).

The second death is .... also brutal but strange as in no one queried about it (a delivery person dies/go missing and the store she worked for did nothing???)!?!

Then again I have watched enough horror movies to insist on logical when none exist... (I should have known better).


The scares are will designed and executed.

Overall this is a much better horror movie compared with the first The Nun.

Just don't try to look for logic.
