Well, its difficult by simply go to JPN and change name. I was not born as a hacker. But I am getting inspired after watching hacker movie.

Firstly, you sounds like a troll. No career or profession takes 2 days to master and learned by watching movies. But I'll bite.

The term "hacker" mentioned in movies or TV series usually refer to security hacker which capable of exploiting flaw/bug to break into computer system.
That in itself is huge field. There server security, network security, application security, mobile security and the list goes on.

"To break a bank, you first need to understand how the bank internal operation works don't you?". Same story for security, first you have to understand how does a system work.

Google have their in-house "hacker" team called Project Zero. Notable list of "hacker"(they preferred to be labelled as security researcher) that I revered.

Tavis Ormandy
Ian Beer
Ben Hawkes
George Hotz
Colin Percival
Thomas Ptacek
Moxie Marlinspike
Brian Krebs
Bruce Schneier
Matthew Green

Personally once you manage to understand with their technical writing, you can consider yourself as hackers.
I for once, can't comprehend half of the subject their discussion.

While this is lengthy, the takeaway is
1. Understand what you're getting into. OS, network, and application layer security.
2. If you want to go for security path is to familiarize yourself with Kali Linux, Metasploit and Wireshark for a start.

and it certainly would take more than 2 days.

its easy to be a hacker, most people dont even know what hacking means.
First you need the knowhow and have an attitude of experimentation, a lot of hacking actually comes from hardware. One particular article i liked was when they posted about a group marathon in which they were able to get a bunch of sim cards, set up their own cell tower, and play around with the sim card's CPU, as the sim card itself is a computer, has its own CPU, memory and storage, but is such a locked down tech and messing around to learn what you can do with it, and the results are surprising.

Hacking is just mainly messing around with things.

In short we have, in fact the community were so strong that we used to run HackerspaceKL and started HiTB (Hack in the Box)
http://www.hitb.org/

Unfortunately HiTB is now moved on to other countries but the people are still around.

If you want to be a hacker, there's no other shortcut than getting your system knowledge right.

first you need to know what is networking (alot). then you need sepcialize in network security. then you got the networking/infrastructure part covered.

next you need to move in to application layer. in most cases it will be web security. study in those area to get to know how on how to preform pentest on websites and etc.

anyway you can get more info on certification and varius program here https://www.eccouncil.org/programs/

good luck.

Basically, you can be a "hacker" by just doing life hacking tricks - example? anything from www.lifehacker.com

since you post this thread on linux I am assuming you want to be a linux hacker? Well sorry to say that it requires years of experience and most linux "hackers" are actually white hat hackers - because they know the existing bugs but not exploiting them openly and will report it as vulnerability to the developers to patch fix.

Or maybe you are lucky enough to find a potential bug / exploit in a system then viola you are a hacker now~ easy right? Good luck in finding them~

In Malaysia, there is alot of "Hackathons" - events - but not all of them are for computer hackers of course...

find a decent job at cyber security company, learn how to identify vulnerable, bug and hole in the system. but first you need to have vast knowledge in troubleshoot major programming language and networking skill. but again it depend on your purpose of being hacker/cracker.

Depends on your "hacker" definition. Because there is a lot of hacker focus group like life hacking, hardware hacking, brain hacking, social engineering, AI & robotic hacking, lockpicking, and more.

However, if you are looking for something like in the movie, I think you may refer to Web app security.

You may join the security community like OWASP and listen to news related to hacking and security.

Ts, are you for real or you just trolling? I think you have more potential being a professional troll than hacker. How about looking into creating a career as a troll?

If you are serious, tell us more about your background. What you do. What are your experiences. What is your hobbies/passions. What is your job now. And so on.

Just go to r/unixporn and copy some Xresources colours, i3-configs and vim themes. Then you copy random code from github and paste it in your vim window. Then take a screenshot. Print screenshot and hang it on your wall. Stare at it every day. Congrats. You're now a poser hacker. Go and get a tattoo to complete the look innocent.gif

Seriously, this is why everyone says Malaysia's education system has gone down the drain. puke.gif

Maybe study exploit like this first then can become hacker?

https://secret.club/2023/06/05/spoof-pe-sections.html

Note that if section alignment set to value below 4096, it should have been set to the same value as File alignment.
Because section alignment is below 4096, sections attributes are lost.

Page size is usually determined by the processor architecture. Traditionally, pages in a system had uniform size, such as 4,096 bytes.

Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Page_(computer_memory)

It is defined that the section alignment minimum value is 4096, which is the size of CPU page. From my understanding, memory page is split so that can have different permission (read/write/execute) on each of them.
For example, Page 1(code) may have permission to read and execute, but page 2(data) may have permission to read and write.

Section alignment in PE can be understood as "memory alignment" in opposed to File alignment in PE (smallest size is 512 bytes)

If section alignment in PE in set to below page size (4096), it can only have one types of permission IMO, that's why the exploit can perform other operation in a read-only section.

I think hackers in the US go to DEF CON convention in Las Vegas every year, that is a hacker's convention.

Also, they might be studying materials at https://class.malware.re

Becoming a hacker isn’t something that happens in two days, and it’s definitely more than just watching movies like Hackers (1995). If you’re serious, start by learning programming languages like Python and understanding how networks work. Sites like TryHackMe and Hack The Box are great for practicing ethical hacking skills in a safe environment.

In Kuala Lumpur, there might be cybersecurity or tech meetups where you can connect with others interested in hacking (legally and ethically). It’s also worth exploring online communities for guidance. I recently read News from chaktty about real-life hacking stories, and it emphasized how much effort and learning go into mastering this field. If you’re interested, treat it as a serious skill to develop, not just something for fun.
