Very happy with the P20 Pro Pie update. Overnight battery drain is very minimal. The performance is definitely much smoother. The asynchronous UI rendering I complained is now fixed.

I believe the battery % indication doesn't tell the true state of our battery life, from 100-99% took very long time to drain, after that it will drop faster. |

QUOTE(davidletterboyz @ Dec 19 2018, 04:25 PM) I've never emptied my P20 Pro battery. But I do notice the battery % is hardly accurate. A few times I left the charger on for a while even when it reached 100%. Then I noticed the battery capacity remained at 100% for a few hours (~3 hours standby). Then only it will drop to 99% etc. I think it needs recalibration which I haven't done yet. Yup but I never fully charged anyway. Stopped at ~90%. The battery consumption during sleep I mentioned was using the same measurement as before the final Pie update. Normally my battery is around 40% before I hit the bed. There are three possibilities why the battery % is inaccurate: 1) bad calibration or 2) it's purposely done by Huawei to show it can fully charge faster than other found but physically it still has 5% left when hit 100% or 3) to protect the battery. Fully charging every time can reduce the capacity in long run. QUOTE(aurion @ Dec 21 2018, 10:27 AM) Didn't notice that. Was looking for this. Thanks. But I find a very inconsistent behaviour. If I set the media as default, cycling the bell icon at volume short cut will bring the ringtone volume to the shortcut as well. But if I set ringtone as default, this won't happen. Hm. Looks like I'm also having P20 battery (or perhaps reading) issue, experienced it last night where by the phone prompt that 15% batt left, and I din't bother and keep using it until 5% left and got auto shutdown. And no, I didn't turn any power saving mode.
I think I gonna perform a full factory reset when I'm free later and see how it goes again since I've emptied the battery and recharge it to full, consider that a battery reset. P/s: Coming from AOSP rom background, I always don't put much faith in incremental upgrade like this. |

I think i can kinda feel like the battery performance slightly improving from before pie. My overnight battery is quite good too. Usually i left it from 95% and the next morning would be around 82%. Now in the morning i got around 86-87%.

QUOTE(davidletterboyz @ Dec 23 2018, 06:31 PM) ![]() I spoke too soon. It looks like the RAM management issue still persists. After more than 24 hours without shutting down the phone is not as smooth as before and keeps killing off apps like Google Chrome. Even I cleared the apps, it would say only ~1GB left. Normally it has 3GB left. |
