Will above specs give you a total of 60X zoom power ?

These feature on a SANYO digicam that I'm planning to get.

yes, 5 optical X 12 digital = 60x zoom

but bear in mind, the digital will cause the image resolution drop
digital zoom is actually same with computer zoom function..
if you zoom 1200% on your computer, you will see the image become really blur...

basically digital zoom is only recommended if the camera have a high effective pixel.

Only look at optical zoom. Digital zooms are just pure gimmicks.

cpteoh told you a very good point. Pls don't rely on digital zoom.

for picture yes, digital zoom is useless, you can crop and enlarge the image yourself using any image program.

but i find digital zoom quite useful for video when i just wanna focus on specific area, eventho it doesnt do any real zooming, very troublesome to do it in video editing prog.

just wanted to clarify that is it not 5 + 12 = 17x zoom.

camcorder mode...probably using 320 X 230 resolution reording.

Get higher Optical zoom if u wanna but dont get those wif high Digital Zoom.

Pics u take using digital zoom will come out pixelised.

I never wanna use digital zoom for both my Digiacam & View Cam.

If ur freind have a digicam, I recommend u to try it out first, then u'll know wat i mean.

i just won XACTI CA-6 (sanyo) at lelong.com.my

have yet to received unit.
but got extra splash proof...can use at beach or near waterfall.. tongue.gif

will review it later.

i hope the pic quality is good.

for making youtube short movies project.
