Hows the environment like?
Very big company. They have all the people scattered across many sites and many projects. Good environment if you are high performing.

Much politics inside?
Politics is everywhere. Same as normal IT company

Salary and benefits good? bonus?
Salary is good if your credentials is good. No much ceiling for any positions

Long term career prospects have?
[COLOR=blue]They have a lot of departments with structured management. You can do cross dept. and also apply for many internal openings. They usually prioritize internal hiring

What sort of system do they build or support?
SAP, .NET, INFRA, CLOUD, etc......they're involved in various different technology stacks as they are supporting for upstream and downstream.

Stress level moderate?
Quite stressing. Everything need to follow strict internal governance. And most of the time under staffed. If you are assigned to a project, you are also required to take up support role as well

QUOTE(yurie @ Sep 3 2018, 02:41 PM)
- Do they follow the same remuneration scheme and job grades as Petronas itself?
Same perks with parent Petronas?
They have their own T&C

- Are there many iPerintis folks who remain with PetICT today? Because as I look back, there were ample iPerintis discussions back in the past on Lowyat, but nobody discusses Pet-ICT nowadays.
Got

- Do senior executives have greater autonomy than junior execs? How do you describe their 'freedom' or autonomy.
Usually like that la

- A lot of 'redtape' to get things done? Protocol? Paperwork, approvals, etc.
Very

- A lot of training provided?
They have budget for that

- I believe their technologies are quite niche and vendor-specific correct? It's not like those IT houses that churn out apps, webpages, using PHP, Java, .NET.
Usually only proven techs. Always 1 version behind to make sure they're using the most stable version.

- How many years does it take for Senior Exec to be promoted to Manager level?
Difficult to say. Based on performance most of the time. No automatic level upgrade.

- I noticed they advertised a lot of Manager posts on jobstreet. Meaning that they hire managers externally on equal basis with say internal promotion?
They have a lot of vacancies.

- Are their Contract positions mostly converted to Permanent at the end of contract? Will they be easily retrenched during oil volatile prices?
Easy to convert if u perform.

- Is the office now only at Exxon Tower? The office in Menara Perak, etc still functioning today?
Not anymore. All moved to Exxon.

Is it expensive to commute and eat lunch here?
I suppose one can LRT to KLCC and then walk the tunnel to Exxon Tower via Aquaria?
Food will be on the higher cost right?

Heard that only Maxis has good signal in the towers?
*
Not really, can go to neighbour offices....got a lot of food courts around there....just need to walk a bit....

signal is good. no problems at all.....

If someone from outside klang valley to work at petict, where is the best location to stay?

Its a longer walk from pavilion to exxon tower conpared to klcc station walk to exxon tower?

Do most staff here drive to work? The open air parking is free to staff?
*
got open air parking for early birds. Usually staffs prefer to take LRT. more convenient. As for me, I'm staying at wangsa maju, just 10 minutes motorcycle ride to KLCC. Walking from LRT station will take around 15 minutes. Its good for health too :-)

1)Do you work there?
No. I'm their customer.

2) How do you apply @ get work there?
N/A. Easy for us because we can apply for internal transfer.

3) I have 2 years as cloud eng. Mostly i can only see managers level
Got exec too, just send your resume. They'll put it in the talent pool.

4) What advice for me if i want to work there someday?
Prepare to wear full business attire.
Prepare to work extra hours.
Prepare to multitasks.
15-20 support tickets a day is a minimum. And, you need to work in projects as well. Its quite challenging. But they're not stingy in paying good salary.

If I'm a person who hates 'redtape', protocol, just wants things done quick and 'dirty' even. Will I fit with Pet ICT?
No. Impossible. Everything have committee. Simple change as "fonts" will need to go through multiple level of approvals. So, you can imagine. That's for SAP of course.  But sometimes, for non-core application projects, they're going cowboy style as well. Not that rigid la.

Compared to say.

A person who upholds high level of  SOP adherence with not too much questioning.

Because I used to work in an organization which is MNC, the culture is pretty SOP-less. As long as the immediate lead gives an OK, things are good to go. No filing approval papers, no meetings to justify new approaches. We do have daily informal Skype calls with regional teams in other continents to discuss system issues and problems and plans.

But things are pretty much flex. Even WFH is allowed.
What they want is the result.

Sounds like u worked in Dell or HP before or those type of MNC companies. Well, those MNC's they're working project based and result oriented. As long as the solution works, then it is ok. less documentations, less approval authority. If they don't like the project, just capitalize it and let go of the resources.

In PET-ICT, they're the CMMI type company, full process oriented. and its proven to work.

WFH is unheard of at PET-ICT. Maybe in rare cases only.

I heard PET-ICT uses Accenture and Deloitte consultants alot. Can goyang kaki get the consultants to do the heavy lifting?
*
They use those consultancy resources because they don't want to hire on their own. Projects comes and go, and too costly to hire on permanent basis.

How to goyang kaki if no internal resources? they are hardworking people and I rarely see that type of goyang kaki people in PET-ICT. The competition is very healthy and competitive environment.

The only IT organization so far I seen not judging you by ur skin color. :-)

They seem to have a lot of extra curricular activities don't they? Like Futsal etc.

Btw it seems like from the pictures posted, majority is Bumi staff. Non Bumi staff numbers pale a lot on comparison? Harder to enter?
*
unfortunately, non-bumi staff don't join extra curricular activities.....not all, but most of them prefer happy hour, etc.... hehehe
