Hi.

Anybody willing to share experience choosing and handling indoor green plants?

I just moved to one bedroom apartment (rented) in the city recently. I am used to live in landed house in suburb area, hence feeling a little bit constrained in this apartment.

Thinking of getting a or some plants to freshen the room and make it more homey..

Anybody can share on how you choose your indoor plants, where to buy them, how to take care of them, will they attract insects etc?

easiest is go buy the snake plant/mother in law tongue. helps clean the air and very hardy. no need much sun and also no need constant watering.

Good plan on artificial plants. A much better choice than real plants as you figured out. Plants will not only attract insects but will require some maintenance as well in terms of getting minimum sunlight and water. Otherwise the leaves will turn yellow and finally to brown (rot). Sometimes the soil will also have worms as well and the small wiggly thing may creep and crawl right to the floor.

In my opinion, real potted plants with soil in pots are best left outside and not inside the house unless there is an air-well or mini garden inside the house (usually semi-D or bungalow) whereby the area where the plants are located is enclosed with sliding glass panels.

If it feels a little congested in the apartment, don't buy too many furnitures and go for simplistic furnishing ie. one piece of 2 seater sofa instead of a combination of 2+3 seaters etc. Make the living room as open as possible with an uncluttered look.

Those snake plant, money plant or mostly for indoor, will not extract insect.

For soil and keep it moisture, you can use pebble stone to cover ontop. Look nice and clean too.

Have indoor plant for man yrs.

Have a little small plant indoor will make the interior look greenly and eye soothing.

Not a big plant if the house is small.

Usually scorched leaves like that won't heal over sadly 😅 most can do is trim away the most damaged leaves and wait for new growth.

Anyone tried GA3 (Natural plants hormones) on their indoor plants? I spray as according to instruction, noticed the new leaves on my monstera doubled in size.

First timer, dint know jasmine cannot put indoor(without direct sunlight)

After 1 week (Relocated to balcony)


After another week


Recently a week after, trim off all dead leaves

Most if not all flowering plants need sunlight to bloom.

first time. bought peace lily and jasmine and wondering why jamine almost dead.
then only know peace lily no need direct sunlight but jasmine need.
was eyeing for lavender to replace jasmine but seem like jasmine still got hope

We learn from mistakes. I also lost many plants because didn't research on it.

wondering what should i get next

Can pluck many from roadsides esp those abandon by others or grow wild at places. Don't have to spend money.

Try elephant ears. Need shady place and water.
