exactly! limitation is not on the physical card, but also on the thousands of terminals flooding in the market (with variety of configurations and vendors).

I seem saw amex wave logo in BHP station. I will check it again if I go to BHP again.

I've not come across any terminal recently which only accepted Visa but not MC contactless or the other way around. Even when the terminal only shows one logo, it still accepted the other brand contactless. I've noticed many merchants have terminals that supports contactless but they don't realise or like it when you say you want to use contactless.

No QM for dining? Even McD which heavily promoted Visa contactless when they first launched their card terminals quietly added support for MC contactless. My take on this is the biggest push came when banks forced people to convert to debit cards. The number of cards in the market supporting contactless jumped a lot and supporting only one standard no longer made any kind of sense.

So far I have successfully used my MasterCard PayPass at AEON Supermarket MV, Kim Gary MV, Sepiring MV, Lavender Pastiserie MV, The Hogan MV, AEON Big MV, just to name a few.

Well, perhaps other savvy credit card users here have more positive experience with their MasterCard Contactless credit cards. 
Last time, some of us managed to get free replacement of Maybank MasterCard Ikhwan Credit Card with MasterCard Contactless function, for example in Maybank Card Centre in Gardens, Mid Valley.

Perhaps, we can get free replacement of Maybank 2 Card American Express with Expresspay function, via same method.  My Maybank 2 Card American Express is a little worn out, since it is my main credit card for retail swiping. 

In exchange of free replacement, we savvy credit card users will help Maybank to promote American Express Expresspay function, and promote greater awareness among larger Merchants (such as Aeon).

I applied visa Barcelona in August. Cancelled M2card visa early this month.

i just called MBB CS for replacement   

some salient points...

1) m2c amex contactless is very new, only offerred to new applications.
2) no replacement process yet for existing cardholders (similar to ikhwan mc), BUT the CS offered to replace it under "Damaged Card" reason 
3) no replacement fee for this reason.
4) the current m2c amex would be locked and unusable for 7 working days. be advised! for me, no issue since the card is underused anyway.
5) existing TPs, instalment(s), balance tranfer(s) would be maintained.
6) card number maintained, expiry date maintained. CVV would be new (as it should be).
7) new card can be delivered to mailing address or maybank branch.

I understand your opinion that there is not much tangible benefits to us users, if we get Maybank 2 Card American Express with Amex Expresspay. Yes, many merchants have chosen to disable Amex support on their credit card terminals, to avoid much higher MDR.

Among the remaining merchants who still accept American Express credit cards, how many of these merchants are willing to incur more costs to upgrade their credit card terminals to support Amex Expresspay?

Taking account of your opinion, I shall not rush out to replace my Maybank 2 Card American Express. If I need to perform some shopping errands in Mid Valley out of necessity, I may drop by Maybank Card Centre in Gardens to request for credit card replacement. Simply put, I will not purposely take the trouble to go to Maybank card Centre in Gardens without any other purpose.

The reason for asking the photo of the card is for me to show the photo to Maybank staff in Maybank Card Centre in Gardens. Last time, when I requested for Maybank MasterCard Ikhwan Credit Card in Gardens, the Maybank staff did not understand my request and kept saying that the Maybank MasterCard Ikhwan Credit Card is a MasterCard and should not have Visa Paywave function.

Only when I showed the photo of Maybank MasterCard Ikhwan Credit Card posted by facktura (facktura's photo) to the Maybank staff, the Maybank staff finally understood my request and proceeded for credit card replacement.

In short, if I can have Maybank 2 Card American Express with Amex Expresspay, it is great for me (although there may not be any credit card terminal for me to try). If I cannot have the new card, I have no issue and I will not feel sad. Either way is fine by me.

just briefly tested reloading grabpay. still works after calling cs 24mins ago.

my guess is once it gets processed in the system, it would be blocked.

better be prepared, just in case. plan your replacement and spending.

right got it ... when did they have this "new" upgrade for Amex? din't even bother to inform the customer.

only differences is i call them and blasted them and insist on paywave Amex (they keep saying no such thing) then i ask she to call her manager.

Manager came told me will check and update back. sure enough told me got ok can approved. the rest is same as fruitie blah blah 7 working days
same card number, etc etc

i din't even use broken card tactics.

funny i can use my card until i activate the new one.

m2u app now showing "PENDING ACTIVATION" for my m2c amex card

7 working days is their standard SLA anyway
